At last, I've found it. The greatest youtube tutorial ever uploaded for anything film related.

Dude!! This was so helpful! No one explains it! I’ve been searching everywhere for how to get rid of that ugly magenta noise

I’ve found that for ME, (and everyone has a different opinion on this of course..) if I’m exposing for faces, my zebras should be around STD. 75 +\-2. For landscapes or various other subjects, 95 +\-2. That will get close to what my eyes feel like a correct exposure in slog2 should be.
Generally, overexposing at +1.3 will get me very close to where I need to be. Hope that works for someone out there and makes it a bit easier to understand.

Very helpful video. I always thought the higher base-ISO was the reason for noise in my S-Log footage. However, would explain what IRE is? I also saw another video where the filmmaker sets his zebra level at 100+ and pushes exposure till the highlights just begin to clip and then dials the exposure back down. Now I also realise that that is going to leave us with lesser detail and texture in the highlights as you explained. Also basically without the knowledge of IRE I couldn't understand the basics of your method. So would be grateful if you could explain! :D

Hello, excellent video, I hope you can help me, which of the two options is used to display: Zebra lower limit or stand + range? I don't know which one to use in each situation or how they are combined.

i've been looking everywhere for this video. How to expose slog2 with an 18% grey card because i can't see zebras if I'm filming myself and without buying an external monitor that do false color so now I can just set my grey card on a stand where I plan on filming myself and put zebras on it at 55 IRE. thank you for this video.

Is the best way to overexpose for video to change the iso or just to use aperature? as I understand it, you should keep the shutter speed at 1/twice the frame rate.

I have tried to set it so that it’s 2 stops over but the image is super blown out if I drop the iso or anything any lower to get correct zebras then it is no longer 2 stops over

If zebra helps me to expose slog2 correctly then my question is will i abandon the ND filter?

i still don't understand how to over expose for 2 stops is it dialing the exposure comp.? i don't know if im doing it right,
    pp7
    exposure comp +2
    iso auto
    1/50
    24fps
    f/2.8
this was the last setting for my last video

The only way to expose right is with a monitor that can show you false color. Dialing the exposure comp to +2 is a very rough estimate since it meters from parts of a scene. It might read +2 because of bright highlights but will leave your shadow information lost.

The method I used here is with Zebras. Try and dial those numbers.
