Just took a good look at that seat. I have a very specific type of spinal damage and the first thing that went through my mind is that it might work for my back.
If you get things from Amazon, you might score some packing foam that makes great seat cushion material. I did. My seat build just got a little more inexpensive.
Awesome build! The final assembly at the end of this video got me thinking that this construction design and technique would make an really comfortable rocking chair! LOL!
You might want to look into laminating corrugated cardboard. I have been playing with the stuff and it looks like one could use it for a rocking chair. It is unbelievably strong. I have been using titebond II but sodium silicate is used to make the cardboard so maybe a better choice for laminating.
thanks man really helps I trying get a bicycle camper together to go live my dream nomadic lifestyle although not one who has a bank balance to fund so I doing everything myself so this realy helped thanks :D
Bloody brilliant Rob. You have a small gap midway under the seat where you can build a secret compartment or use for your fusebox. Love the build and again looking forward to seeing the finished build.
Hey Robert, hope you're doing alright. Missing your enthusiastic videos and your superb projects. Don't want to request any of it like that, just letting you know, that you're missed and people really like you and your work.
Looks like it needs a two stroke engine and track to make it a snow ski. Awesome work mate. Ps got my mig out today and it works loads better when I fixed my gas valve and did my first ever bit of brazing this week
Hi Rob, off topic I am afraid but have you considered making your supercapacitors using the paper stick method? I wondering if the battery could also be the frame.
If you layer up thin ply sheets in that shape with epoxy and put in a vacuum bag you would be able to take away the form peices and it would be super strong .
Great idea mate - unfortunately the form pieces are needed her to attach it to the bike - but I get what you are saying as a general way to form plywood into complex shapes that's would be a really good move
@@ThinkingandTinkering same way i made skateboards and kiteboard . Once they have a 3 dimensional curve like a basketball imprint it is amazing string . We used layered newspaper a few times in between but i didnt really acheive any extra strength but increased weight from glue .
I work with both imperial and metric measurements, but mostly imperial . I saw the drawing of the seat and my immediate thought was “26mm, that’s only an inch wide. That doesn’t seem very comfortable.” 🙂
Just in case no one else has said it, leatherette, or indeed any impermeable cover, is a really bad idea for recumbent seat covers, especially if you intend to ride it more than a few minutes. Nearly all practical recumbent seats are either covered in mesh or made of mesh because seat is a big issue when your back is supporting your weight. Don’t get me wrong, recumbents are the only sensible bike really, but the seat as your main interface with the bike needs a bit of thought. Your seat frame and base look good, but you W|LL need ventilation.
Really valid point I mused on as I watched video. Ponders some holes drilled through foam and seat backing ply then cover with a mesh type breathable covering. Not sure how far to go with the Swiss cheese effect or if backing ply may require a second layer but tons cheaper than a commercial bought seat plus no fun in buying and fitting the joy is in the making.
@@ThinkingandTinkering love your videos and have been toying with scratch building an e trike. Can’t wait to see end result. Constructive comment I’m reasonably tech savvy but a bit of a lazy sod so wondering if it’s possible to add links to rest of project in the description ???

oh wow - that would be cool if it works for you
Briljant build, seam very easy to make and confortable for riding. Looking forward making one myself for my sons tricycle.
Now that is an impressive looking recumbent seat. You make it look so easy! 😁
it really wasn't that hard mate

Just found this Rob. Bloody awesome mate. Cheers.
A new career for you - as it happens I do have some chairs that would benefit from your new skill. Good one, lovely seat.
lol - cheers mate
Does you offer of a .pdf with the strut design still stand Rob? - would get me off to a flying start if you can share them! Thanks, Matt
Thanks for the idea, coincidentally i needed a chair for a trike!
6:12 I miss the good old Bensound funnysong music for montages... :(
ooooh - and I was going to put it in too!

I am guessing it would lol - seriously though - awesome work mate
@@ThinkingandTinkering thanks mate I'll send you some pictures when finished. Electric snow ski? Lol
you're an artist!
suggest you attach the seat in an adjustable way. So if someone wants to sit up or lay back more they can. Nice job on the seat.
nice idea mate - I didn't think about that - thanks for the tip
Hey ... Thanks for the tutorial ... I couldn't find the link to the pdf template... Can you please share
You could make chairs..or perhaps a curvy skateboard / snowboard ! very nice
I really like the curvy skateboard idea
Just like making a really cool skateboard
I was thinking exactly that lol

lol - 26cm - that makes it a bit more comfortable lol
Nice job.
Thank you! Cheers!
Hello. I don’t see the downloadable plans….
Just one question: how much does it weigh?
If you wrap the seat form RMS has made in plastic you can layup in glass or CF and the result will be much lighter.
Hello everyone , can someone please post the PDF template he is referring to .
Thanks in advanced
Can you add your battery tech into your frame technique?
I would think so
Weight?
Your wibbly-wobbly skate board just needs some wheels!
lol
Can you please send me the pdf please 🙏🏼
