OSB Side Tables Build.

- Here I make two mid century inspired bedside tables / side tables / nightstands / end table from OSB, with a dash of oak.
OSB, an interesting medium I've not worked with before and was interesting to find out what worked and what didn't.
Thanks for watching and have a great day! Kind regards, Ben.

Right you lovely lot, sorry I've taken so long to get this out! No excuse just life stuff, knocking me. Any way I hope you enjoy this! Be-lucky, kind regards, Ben.
Love your craftsmanship but your commentary is icing on the cake! Thanks!!!
Thanks mate, thats often were peeps complain so nice to hear someone say something good! I can mumble, its really odd talking to an inanimate object!
I like it! Especially the irony in using Festools for projects with OSB aka PMP (Poor man's plywood). I think it's an underrated material.
Haha hadn’t thought of it like that but you’re right! They’re serving me well under my editing desk at home.
I do the odd job at my partner’s house. Whenever I turn up, toolbag in hand, I get the old bow-whicker- bow- wow. 😂Made me laugh😂, love it.
LMAO knock knock... its Ron Jeremy, the plumber!
your approach to designing is very refreshing, beautiful work
Thank you Neisen, appreciate the compliment, hope you have a nice Christmas! 🤦🏻♂️😊🍻
Haha. Fantastic build video, Ben. Loved the running commentary: "man who goes to bed with itchy ...." 🤣🤣
Thanks buddy! Glad you liked it man 😀
Hello my friend,
Nice design. I love bedside tables. you did a good job Man, you get drunk sniffing too much glue :-) See you. Big greetings. stay healthy and happy.
Hey buddy thank you! Hope you're well, hope you're having a nice easter break!
@@HewAndAwe Yes, everything is okay. thank you. happy Easter
Dunno how I managed to not watch this one when I discovered your channel and binge watched em all a few months ago - however, catched up ;) . This is a f'in good lesson on design and craft and what's actually important. And of course there's all that calm but real language and audio inserts that make it so nice to listen to.
Thank you Flo, I appreciate your complement! Hope you're having a nice weekend!
I loved your sanding that end grain beautiful and I agree with you on a half round Shinto rasp I want one
Every time I pick that rasp up I think that, for me it’s the rasp I use the most!
10/10. Common sense, practical with some style. Not polished but plenty of glitter. One up for us Brits. Well done Ben, and thank you.
Thank you Bruce, thank you for the lovely complement mate! Hope you have a lovely evening man! 😊
wonderful workmanship. I have examined your channel, you are doing good work. Good luck
Thank you! Cheers!
A hidden gem woodworking channel. Amazing creativity. Seen some of your other videos with the rustic chalk paint finish. Amazing.
Hi Kent, thank you for the complement and thank you for taking the time to say that - much appreciated!!! 🍻🍻🍻
Please keep making these vids and don't dare change your narration style 😂. A breath of fresh air. That OSB needs skipping imo, but the oak legs are mint 👌
Haha thanks mate! I wont bud, hope'n that'll be my USP... Hope you're having a nice easter break man! Cheers Lee!
lol they’re so hideous it’s hilarious!! Reminds me of the legendary channel ‘Positive Couple’.
Thank you for the compliment, I think? 🖖
@@HewAndAwe definitely a compliment!! Positive Couple are amazing because they break the mould. I’m new to your videos but boy are they a breath of fresh air from all the over produced fake feeling influencer woodworkers who make endless plywood edge design chopping boards and french cleat tool walls.
@xX88B88Xx okay cool, thank you I appreciate the compliment 🖖
Good job!
That was a fun project to watch! A half round shinto rasp is something that NEEDS to exist! I'm surprised my OSB guitar neck glued to an MDF fretboard is still in one piece! Especially when I used PVA on it and it's under tension.
I think the end result would look good in an arty hotel somewhere.
Thanks mate! I'd pay good money for one too, id love to find an equivalent! Ohhhh thats interesting! PVA held, i'm shocked! I got into work and it had been raining on my scraps I was like no way anything water based is gonna work.
@@HewAndAwe actually have you tried the Iwasaki rasps? They do various shapes I think?
@@ChrisFranklyn Oooh-yeah!!! I have three of them, They're my prized rasps, I love them to bits, the cut is a thing to behold!
Holy moly these look sensational!! I love them!! It would be great to see or know more about your painting process to get that effect on the OSB. Well done mate!
Oh-my-god....bugger, I cant believe I left that out in the VO!!! I'm kicking myself... It was just a case of laying the base coat down let that dry, then with a foam roller lightly loaded with paint and little amount or pressure lay down the top colour, hope that makes sense bud?
@@HewAndAwe hah thanks mate that does make sense. So the black was your base layer and then you applied the pink lightly over the top?
The comparison of the level of black for the drawers… “little bit more fuckin black”! Perfect!
Cheers Jason hope you’re well dude! 🍻🍻🍻
I'm in the middle of hating on some drawers myself, so I'm sympathetic. As for your color selection... well, it makes a statement. I have no idea what that statement is, but it's being made quite loudly.
Only true men get away with pink 😂 I think pink compliments oak perfectly, when you mill a fresh oak log the inside is really pink, unfortunately a lot of the colour goes never to be seen again 😔
Ben, your videos are f#$king great! I'm snorting the entire time. Great production and narration. Wicked slick drawer fronts and legs. I like the osb, the pink makes me want to vomit, but overall design is spot on. Thanks for posting man. I can't imagine the effort you put into producing this vid. I have all I can do to pull off posting the dozen or so photos on my instabookgram thing. 👍👊🤘
Thanks buddy! Im kinda throwing together what ever I can find laying about, paint OSB what ever... and see what happens. Running out of ideas fast! IG, man I packed that in possibly November last year, best way I can put it is I woke up to the BS that is FB/IG, Ive never had any work from it despite 35K followers. It's a platform devised to make the user addicted, and then advertise to. I didnt take the decision lightly, I have way more views there, same on FB but I just dont like the business model, them collecting data on everything I do too. My vids did way better there though than UA-cam but I make a little bit of pocket money here.
Ding Dong, very sexy OSB mate 😜😜😜. Keep on Free Willying cobber 🙏🤘🍺🧐👍👍👍👍
Haha I saw your video pop up and my first thought was "bow chicker wow wow" hahaha.
Love the draws Ben 👍🏾. Great humour (you had me giggling throughout) . Always look forward to your videos 💙
LMAO!!! Im getting in a bit of trouble for it too, this was meant to go out yesterday but issues with youtube pffft! Even though I select 'not made for kids' We're all gonna be wrapped up in cotton wool soon... None the less, thank you for telling me that - makes it all the worth while hearing that mate! Hope you have a lovely evening! 😊
Not my taste of colour - but a great build in general! Love the use of OSB!
I kinda feel pink goes well with oak, brown/pink - could of been worse and some ghastly green or blue lol
@@HewAndAwe you are Right, the colours are matching quite well! Burgundy would also fit quite well, I think 🤔
what kind of jig do you use for your sharpening? Love the work, well done
Thank you Scott 😀 I use the Veritas Mk.II Honing System, its okay I dont rate its as perfect though.
Yes! back! 22:22 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you buddy 😂
Nice job liked your thinking on full sized templates. Just found your channel courtesy of Rag'N'Bone Brown who mentioned you on his channel
Cheers Bernie 😊 that was very nice of Keith! ☺️
❤👏👍
Thank you 🍻😊🍻
Funky as shite!
"...you know we come to get down
Because I've got the flow where I grab my dick
And say oh my god, that's the funky-shit" 😂 (The Beastie Boys)
Ripped out fireplace...like a dropped pasty
😂😂😂😂 that’s a new one on me!!! Love it!!! I hope you had a lovely Christmas! 🍻😊🍻
Definitely going to try your template technique, however can I really trust a man smacked off his tits on filler fumes? 😂great build👏🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Haha!!! I cant be the only one that has an affliction to two-pack 😂Reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad working on the house. Yeah man, go for it. Laying out on MDF and taking the work piece to it, its really tough to go wrong from there, everything is there, angles, length etc and you know what its gonna look like in the end - none of that oh-for-fcuk-sake stuff. Thank you Wayne, appreciate the complement mate, hope you have a lovely evening! Beers, roast/crackling and F1 for me, signing off for now, cheers -Ben.
@@HewAndAwe No bother Ben, enjoy mate 👍🏻
Good job!
Thank you Tucker appreciate that man!
