Wynde was pronounced 'wind' like in the natural phenomenon of air blowing and also when it meant "to wind a clock". You see, the great vowel shift hadn't happened yet. Tuomas pronouncing it with its modern phonetics is his personal artistic choice.
Tuomas went to Sweden to record Floor's voice. He was stund by Floor because she did it in 6 days. He thought that Floor would take 2 weeks to finish it. ❤❤❤.Well, she is the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy 😊😇😇
Tuomas said they planned 2 weeks to record Floor’s vocals. They were done in 6 days. According to Tuomas this album is her best effort yet. Very impressed!
I'm so glad to be alive the same time with this band. This song grew on me steadily, and now I love it. A perfect metaphor for passing through the sea of life and encountering people (the islands) on the way. What a beautiful send-off with that "you who glow in deepest woe" section. The more I listen to this song, the more that section hits. No more turmoil, "sail carefree". Really touching.
You're the calmest and chillest reactor ever 😊 I like how you try to listen through the whole song and don't attempt to talk and interrupt the experience
This is a True Display of Confidence between "Band and Composer", Then "Composer and Band",, One of the Best Presentation of High Talents Operating in their Level. The Result is Music for the Mind. "I Also Concur All the Rest You Said".... Carry On !
Notice the mast of the boat when Troy starts in with the pipes. The sails are furled as if the boat is at anchor and in a harbor. Speaking of Emppu, he's been playing the ESP Horizon EV1 for about 30 years and was talking about retiring his guitar. ESP got all the specs and measurements of Emppu's workhorse and built him a new EV1. There's a video of the presentation at what I'm guessing is the front porch at his home. Looked like a pretty special moment for him.
Excellent reaction. As always you know what you are talking about. Yes, this is a masterpiece. In my opinion: what "the fifth" is for Beethoven, this song represents Nightwish. At least untill the next song from them comes along. And that epic two minutes of Troy at the end....... I'm going to the convenient store to get a free refill of tears after hearing that part over and over again. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘😊
Hi Eric. You once said, "This is Nightwish like you've never heard before, but it's everything you know Nightwish to be!" As far as this album goes?..... I concur! 😊❤️🤘🤘
OK Eric, here's your YT engagement. I was happy to see you reacting to the new Nightwish. I figured someone would suggest it. The four videos they have released so far are what I was expecting: Music like no other, performed by incredibly talented musicians. I look forward to your review of other Yesterwynde tracks.
Thank you Eric for giving us the best breakdown of this song and explaining to us why our ears and minds love this ... you made so many people very happy all over the world today Brother !!! Also thank you my Brothers & Sisters Concurpas for this request ... you are all awesome !!! 🤘🏻❤❤❤🤘🏻
Your thought was exactly what i think of their music. I said it before - I think their music is so therapeutic, because you can dive deep with them, but you know its safe and they will always bring you back up. There is none of that dark toxic anger many other heavy bands have, that just leave you feeling either pissed or depressed. There is always a positive energy no matter how angry or sad the song is. And Floor is perfect illustrator for that.
Damn Eric, you always find much more details than my ears or brain. Also you have such great metaphors to describe what and how things are composed/played/produced. You are simply the greatest, thanks again!
I told you on the live stream this song kicked ass 😂😂😂 I could see the same grins on your face that I had on my first listen. I'm about 30-40 listens in, and it just gets better. Cheers Eric. Nightwish Army Wales
Dude, great reaction and analysis. Loved it. And I might now guessing a little bit, but as you struggled for a few moments to describe this as "new" Nightwish, one of Tuomas' favorite themes came to mind: Evolution. This is Nightwish, but evolved... It is somehow new, but all the old is still there, underneath, as the foundation. And therefor you can relate to it, appreciate it, because it's familiar, not boring or repetetive, like so many other bands are... Just my two cents With love from Germany, Prog O'Holic
👍Great comment, I agree what you said, their are so much bands who don't want/can't/dare to take the risk to try things out .I dare to say that there are bands with 8 or 10 albums wich,if you heard 2 ,you heard them all. I saw some comments were people (probably trolls) said that Nightwish has become boring and not metal enough. Well, Nightwish was never only about metal or one style of music and i think they even evolve in a natural way to a band you realy can't put in a box and i love it.😉🤘
Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that for me explores themes of solitude, self-discovery, and the existential journey through life's trials. The imagery of the ocean, islands, and mariners reflects a metaphorical exploration of the human experience of connecting with other individuals. The song captures the essence of navigating life’s uncertainties and finding one's place in a vast, often unwelcoming world. It suggests a longing for connection and understanding while grappling with the weight of past experiences and the isolation they can bring. P.S. The reason for the many butterflies in the music video is most likely that in many cultures they show us how we can go within ourselves to dissolve old forms and morph, rebuilding and evolving ourselves,. They show us the importance of surrender and trust as part of the essential process of growth and renewal.
Man…so nice to see people understand poetry and metaphor. The music adds the imagery to every song on this album and if others don’t understand it then I feel sorry for them as they are missing out.

Great to see you back with Nightwish! Nightwish army loves you *bro* 😊 If you haven't done the second disc of Human || Bature you HAVE to do it. You will MELT in a good way! 💥🙏
This is such an epic masterpiece, so exquisitely wrought that it slays me and sends tears coursing down my face every single time. This is a story of an epic journey through life. It has no comparison, no equal. Eric, you totally understand NW. I won't presume to comment on my own until I've heard it, oh, another hundred times or so. It's as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava.
🤘🤘My favorite new song so far. I whole heartedly CONCUR! Mature is the correct adjective. Epic, and yet ending with a contemplative moment to reflect. I think you may also thoroughly enjoy the newest single, "Lantern Light". BTW - Floor completed her vocal parts for the entire record in 6 days.
Yet another fantastic reaction to Nightwish Eric. The way you put it across is second to none my friend. And, what a track this one is! It's fantastic! Thank you for the reaction, looking forward to the next one.
Did I not leave a comment on this one? Oh well, it’s an extra one if so. After listening to the whole album, I feel like this is their best Floor era album hands down.
Wonderful reaction as always, and you were quite spot on for two major things for me. First, throughout the new album I also felt that this is everything that made me fall in love with Nightwish and more. Certain motifs, a rhythm here, a choir part there brought me straight back home to that original wow factor of Nightwish. Second, the fact that this is very mature. The whole album is noticeably more mature in composition and lyrics. Plus, we haven't heard Tuomas dabbing into 80s sounds and we haven't got so much 'prog' sounds and methods before (not this song in particular but a few others on the album)
I’m not a big headphones guy but this album is really converting me . Holy 💩 the complexity of the soundscapes is unreal! And floor hitting some of those notes in chest voice with vibrato 🤯. Emppu’s riffs and Kai, Tuomas , Jukka and Troy on their game as usual. To me this is an experience like Floyd :Wish You Were Here or The Who : Quadrophenia. This may not be for all NightWish fans but man what a complete work! The Warning, Nightwish and Wage War all levelled up with their latest albums . Great time to be alive 🤘
Eric you are the most insightful reviewer out there. Yes i agree this is "mature" and still creative and beautiful and every element that makes Nigh wish, well Nightwish. I must interject a basic premise in that it is almost impossible for someone even as genius as Tuomas to extend the top of the Bell Curve. Outside of Sarah Brightman's two opening belts in the song Fleurs du Mal, Floor is still the best female singer in the world. These attributes of music hitting you full force as Nightwish has done in the past is what identifies greatness. Once you have to listen to recordings multiple times to extract more out of it, the greatness has diminished. I am still going for a tour in 2026 and Marko has stated if they work out some things on the business part of the band, he is open to rejoin in some capacity (recent interview). The magic is still there.
I've been waiting for this reaction! 🤘🤘Also...it's not a new or newer Nightwish. It's an evolution of Nightwish. Is that the word you were thinking of? Nightwish has continued to evolve with the years with different singers and other band members and as those have changed so has their sound. Tuomas has also evolved as a songwriter. The old Nightwish is still there but they're constantly adding new layers over the core. Adding to the existing foundation. The butterfly has left the chrysalis yet again. An apt metaphor given the imagery in this video.
This song proves that Nightwish STILL know how to make 'perfect' music. 🤩 Wish the album had more of this bangers on it... 😥 Any video link for Kai's drum cam? 🤔
Hi Eric! This was first time for me to listen this song. I wanted to listen it with you first time. That is the amount I appreciate your NW analysis and reactions. U nail it, again. I want to ask first: Have u allways had that low "car advertise" voice,?? It is so easy to imagine that being a good fit to a radio waves?? Or have you worked and developed it during the years? Or is your audio kit and tuning mostly making that😅(which is not certainly the case I think)?? You are the best nighwish analyzer, along with Chase Cameron, who is as impressive as you. You two have very different takes and insights, but for me Chase and Eric really get NW with very intelligent way. When I want more emotional reaction, I watch Half life Sistah &Wolf channel. . Keep it up!!! Thank u so much. Happy Finn
🤘🏻Watching this on my way to work - my fave of the songs released from yesterwynde Just listened to Terminal Frost....Dream gig would be David and Emppu performing TF live!
Once again, the best analysis/reaction! Thank you. It's one of those songs that winds up furthering and deepening my personal evolution, both musically and intellectually. Research is often necessary in my journey. 🤘🤘🤘
Great reaction, as always, thank you very much. In my opinion the new album is a masterpiece, a great combination of heavy and soft songs and I love both equally. Nightwish often is called a symphonic metal band and a lot of their songs verify this but I think they are their own genre without boundaries. What Nightwish IS only Nightwish has the right to say, not the fans who want them not to change. These fans should stick to the older albums and not complain about the "new", now more mature band. I love this song as well as a soft ballad like "Lanternlight". If Nightwish goes on evolving in this way they will remain my favourite band.
Hey Eric 👋 Good to have you back - with Nightwish ❤ I haven't had time yet to listen to the album, so this is what I start doing now together with you... Greetings from Germany - Rose - 🌹 🤘💜
Great reaction as always! I would so very much appreciate if you did a reaction/analysis of all of the Yesterwynde album (in parts or the whole thing, as it is the best, IMO).
Hey man! good to see you listening to the goats! they`re great and I just got stunned this record is after listening the orchestral versions, it`s like being in a movie, great versions to check when you have time to spare, keep rocking and stay safe....!
To me this masterpiece is some kind of goodbye to Marco: "Friends, who were for a time Now grapes of sour wine Lords of a single fly Still, I rue no island of shared solitude" the last sentence...just beautiful 🫶🤟
🤟 This song is awesome. It gives me vibes of 2 songs they performed at the Decades tour (Buenos Aires). Devil and the deep dark ocean, and the pipes at the end reminded me of Troy's version of Swanheart.
The whole album all at once. There's no better way to experience these imho. But as it is a long one.. idk how could it be done.. like you experiencing & explaining it all would take a week.. but i already have my sleeping bag and camping stovey ready here to go through it. And candles [you cannot set a campfire in an appartment] ❤️
Tuomas pronouces it like "wind a clock"

Some are sad, that Marco is gone, but i think Jukka brings some freshnes as a Bassist into Nightwish.
Jukka is a master on Bass
Agree
Tuomas really unleashed Kai, the man is on fire!
I'd say this is in my top5 Nightwish songs.
