Evanescence have finally released a song called "Yeah Right" that they had in the archives for the last few years! What do you think? I realised it is reminding me of an eclectic mix of very...niche...songs.

I'm not sure if this has been clarified before, but will any of these shows be filmed?
You're a bit of a plonker Hawkins arent ya 😂
@@MariaFrancesca Nope, only available to witness in person.
@@JustinHawkinsRidesAgain Aw, okay, but then I know for sure. Thanks! 🙂
yes, it did remind me of Muse, the song Uprising in particular
Amy's voice is and always has been a force of nature. So powerful.
She's always trying to sing high and runs out of ceiling early in songs. Becomes monotonous belting. Needs a year of voice lessons.
@@AF-dn2bzlol
I saw Evanescence recently. They were touring with Halestorm. My wife really likes the band. I don't dislike Evanescence at all but I'm not a huge fan. They completely won me over. It was a great show. I will definitely buy tickets next time they come to town.
Halestorm rocks!
I would absolutely love to see both of those bands together.
I came to see Justin Hawkins and I stayed for him playing the Airwolf theme song on the guitar. That made my day!
My late brother's favourite band. We saw them twice before he died last year. They are amazing live. Amys vocals are something else.
Happy memories for you. Music is a healer. ❤✌🏼🙏🏼
Amy can't hold a candle live to a huge list of Dutch and Scandinavian bands with female singers. I've seen them live 3 times in London and she was poor every single time. Totally over-rated!
@@MrChazzyf So? You felt the need to post that in reply to this comment about positive memories? Plus you say theyre over rated live after seeing them the first time yet went again and then for a third time? Sound a bit thick :)
@@MrChazzyf that's your opinion. If you don't like them why see them 3 times. I'm just saying.
@@MrChazzyf nós brasileiros amamos Amy Lee e o Evanescence. É a Pelé da voz. Essas bandas holandesas e escandinavas, fazem sucesso mundo adora? Evanescence atemporal.
I rarely comment but I have to say , you’re always positive , nice to have in this social media world of drama and chip on shoulder critics..much appreciated Mr Hawkins , thank you.
*slurping noises intensify*
Yeah I love this too. He did a video on Moves Like Jagger. He legitimately struggled to keep it positive lmao.
Saw them live and they were amazing and very kind during the meet and greet. Amy's voice and piano playing are stellar.
I saw them open for Muse here in the US. They were great.
She's from my hometown in SoCal. Classically trained piano player & an awesome singer. Very cool to make a FM style rock banger & I hope they get more new fans
I thought she was from Little Rock?
Born in Riverside, so I guess they claim her. She spent her formative years in Little Rock and co-founded Evanescence in Little Rock, but she's California through and through. 🙄
You really took us on a trip down musical memory lane with this one and its alleged influences. Now I've got that Airwolf whooshing sound stuck in my head.
Another great video. I love how you reference and compare other music when you’re reviewing songs.
Dr Who, Muse, Mud, Manson and cheesy 90’s programmes 👍 ⭐️
When they released Wasted on You during the pandemic I found myself really appreciating their evolution to what I would ignorantly only be able to call a "stadium" sound. I always liked them and Amy's vocals especially, but that song really felt like they'd progressed into something new and much... fuller, if that makes sense?
Their classics from back in the day were very well produced and stand out, but some of the new music just has a bigger attitude and sound. I'm liking it.
This 👏🏼 I couldn’t agree more
Evanescence brought me to Rock music. Love The Darkness as well. Always love to see one amazing artist admiring/reviewing another!
I bought Evanescence’s first album on a whim after hearing them on the radio. Still have it and regularly listen to it, also Open Door. Love Amy’s blend of rock grit and full-on operatic delivery. The icing on the cake was when my daughter started to appreciate this style and told me her science teacher loves Evanescence too
i saw amy lee in her stripped down tour where she only sang with the piano and it was AMAZING, even without all the guitars and drums.
That is exactly the space she should be. Give up all the ridiculous edgy goth metal posing and just let her vocal talent shine. Does anyone really want her to be Marylin Manson from 2 decades ago?
@nealm6764 there are plenty bands like them and they haven't given up what they like to do.
@@celkasorcerer Exactly: the very definition of mid.
Why should Amy be mid when she could be really good? But whatever.
@@nealm6764 get over yourself
@@nealm6764She’s not like Marilyn Manson and not goth at all. She doesn’t label herself. She loves all that rock too and other types of music not just rock. If she loves what she’s doing, then so be it!
7:57 - This is truly a man who can descend and meet me at my level of musical appreciation. Earned a like.
Love Evanescence! Fallen is my go-to album for processing grief whenever I need a good cry. Never fails to cheer me up.
Definitely hearing the Muse influence here, it’s very “Uprising”-ish. Amy Lee is an incredible vocalist, absolutely love the direction they’ve taken with this song. 🥰
Not wrong! "Uprising" by Muse was the first thing that came to mind.
And Muse Uprising has always reminded me of the classic doctor who theme song
I never thought of it until you said it but yeah 100% hear the Muse here.
Love how musicans are born with a natural genious for sound, that they hear and replicate without training. I listen but cant instantly pull apart the sound. My daughter is an singer and an artist. When i ask her what she sees when she draws, It was nothing that I would have ever thought of. She sees outlines and patterns. every angle and shade, where i see just the picture, she sees the "structure". I observe that with you, you heard the structure, the tone and pitch, "shade" of a song, pattern instantly. its amazing. Its the reason beside loving you, the reason I watch, the knowledge that you share, the I can only learn and try to see and remember to look for! To hear DEEPER than the surface the rest of us hear but cant explain!
Evanescence are my favourite band and I’ve followed them from their first album. So pleased to see a favourable review as I respect your honesty and insight into the music you break down. Amy’s a powerhouse in all kinds of ways. Thanks for your take on this☺️
The man the myth, the legend is back with the best channel on UA-cam! Looking forward to the American tour!!!
Totally agree. A few different musicians friends told me I had to tune in years ago but started last year and now one of favourite too. ❤✌🏼🙏🏼
Love the song and the meaning behind it. Amy wrote it as a way of purging her past feelings towards her former label who wanted to keep pushing her to milk her success when she became famous.
She refused to “sell her soul” in order to stay true to herself. Finally, when she brought it to her band they made it into this banger. I especially love their drummer, Will Hunt on this. He particularly shines in their latest album, The Bitter Truth
I can't believe we got a Blazing Saddles reference today. My heart is full. ❤😂
Thanks for being so intelligent and teaching the way you do and just for being you! I’m inspired every day I get up by you and your show to make music in my studio. Btw…you should look up Brian Blush from the band The Refreshments. I can put you in touch with him. Killer guitar player and a great story! Thanks again🤘🏻(PS I’m stuck on Love Is Just a Feeling at the moment 🤘🏻great video and song)
Justin Fucking Hawkins Rides Againnnnn!!! 🎸🎶🎶🎶
Holy headbangers, Amy Lee sure dropped another Evanescence sonic bomb with "Yeah Right". Heavy guitars, vocals that flow with melody, and lyrics that spell out the truth. Evanescence are clearly ready to rock hard, and much like GNR's "The General" this could portend a new album of material in the pipeline.
This guy evanescences.
why is this comment written like a music review on some website
You and Amy singing together would be like the ultimate rock duo and now I desperately need it to happen LOL
Had the pleasure of seeing Evanescence live in South Africa in 2006, which was very memorable 😊. In fact, if I'd wished to be any female singer, I'd wish to be Amy Lee. Justin, if I'd wish to be a male singer, I'd wish to be you, sir. Ooh, actually recently got my hands on their Bitter Truth album, and it's bloody great. "Yeah Right", definitely a different sound for them, but I dig it. Justin, could you and the band please pay a visit to South Africa, preferably Cape Town 🤞😁
I like that you edit in all the examples that you mention. Great editing!
Justin, you are a breezy, generous genius. Very impressive!
AND, you have the gift of sarcasm❤. Musical knowledge and sarcasm… appreciated
Justin you have a very soothing voice
The Going For Gold theme is the best thing Hans Zimmer ever composed.
Popped down to the comments to say exactly that
I saw them live in 2012, great concert. The energy was amazing !
It grew this song just a shock compared to their previous songs. Amy has a powerful voice and the drums and guitar really fit
A Dr. Who Manson Airwolf Muse song absolutely has the power to stay number 1 for 52 weeks.
They're clearly Going for, Going for Gold.
You should check out Amy and Lizzy Hale from Halestorm singing Break in. They are so good together!
Oh hell yeah! Beautiful song and melody. Together they are magnificent
It’s spelt Lzzy, by the way. But absolutely agree, love that duet and love both bands.
Used to love a bit of Evanescence. Agreed, she's got a phenominal voice! Nice Going For Gold reference!
Definitely hearing Muse. Happy New Year Justin and Co.
You're truely back 😂😁 loving the vids!! Spank you!! Yes you're bringing back the fab era lol AirWolf was superb!!! Muse ❤️❤️❤️ Going For Gold (I was in school/working bruv).
Ok, do you remember Mark and Lard from Radio 1 lunch time?? Lol the only show that made Radio 1 listenable lol
Ps song was ok!! Lol loved one of their old tracks, Bring Me Back To Life.
I'll always love Amy Lee for making it cool to be pale. I certainly would've caved to peer pressure and dyed myself orange as a teenager if not for her.
As a former Tanning Salon owner, lol
As a former tanning salon member, you made a good choice. I now look 15-20 years older than my sister.
@@SuziQ. Hmm, didn't happen to my customers. Should have come to my salon. Maybe you are one of those tanorexics that over taned
@@SuziQ. I don't even tan to be honest, I just burn! It would've had to be out of a bottle I think!
@@ZuzuTheLemon ,
I do tan well, and have never tried the orange spray. I wish pale was stylish when I was a teen.
Watching Justin strum out the Airwolf theme was surreal. This is what I come here for? Yes.
I could listen to you sing all day!
You are FABULOUS in a suit jacket my love😍
AND your one man band is spot on!!! Still contemplating coming across the pond in March ❤
Evanescence sparkling as always!
You should be so proud of Permission to land, looks really great Framed!!!…❤x20!!!years
Love the always positive vibe. Much needed in today’s world.
Oh wow! You tidied up! 🥳 looks good!
An Airwolf reference! Love it... will have to dig out my box set and watch it again.
Well you certainly took us on a ride tonight. ❤✌🏼🙏🏼
And Airwolf/Going For Gold is precisely why I’m delighted to be coming along to Bristol.
Wicked cool tune. Great show mate!
Saw evanescence last year and they were awesome
Amy Lee is hands-down one on the greatest singers to hear live. She has an AMAZING voice.
You have to be joking! Take away the autotune and she can't hold a candle to Floor, Tarja etc
@@MrChazzyf bullsshit man. go and watch her on any old live acoustic set.. singing lithium or the AOL set
Not joking. Have you heard her sing live? @@MrChazzyf
You have 0 clue@@MrChazzyf
Absolutely not. Her range goes from flat to nasal.
"Lay Down with Me, Barbara" just popped up on my computer shuffle. no lie
Glad to see you back.
Live 'till I Die is definitely a top-5 Darkness track for me. Great autobiographical (I assume) lyrics, perfect vocals, amazingly thick Les Paul tones and a stunning, gorgeous harmony guitar outro.
This is from The Bitter Truth album that came out a few years ago.
Another great video with the added bonus of the Going For Gold theme tune AND AIRWOLF.!
Awesome. Definitely getting the muse vibe. Although, dare i say it, its the era of muse that reminds me of Goldfrapp, which i definitely hear in this. Along with everything else mentioned! Love it.
Excellent vid, as always 🤘🖤🤘
As an American doing my best West London accent (I am making this up. I have no clue) A subtlety that I just noticed about your show, which I have been watching since like day 42 (in other words, early) is that you do not ask us to subscribe or like or kiss off till the end..Brilliant I say! Call me slow!
Loved all the old clips you brought in for comparison
And the song is great!
So glad i grew up listening to them
When you played Airwolf I swore it was the start of magic man by heart! Just me? maybe. Glad you are back J H and great new video. You sir are a magic Man!!
Oh Shiny black suit! That Airwolf catch is legendary!
They'll be touring again and writing for the next album it's so exciting
Loved all the Pop Culture stuff you used in your chat about this song. Keep up the fine work.
yes yes everything you said, are souls, brilliant, thanks
Saw Evanescence in Leeds in the small venue 02 academy, fantastic. And with Pretty Reckless supporting.
🤣😂🤣😂this is the best show ever! thank you! i cry.
Pissing myself laughing .. Stringfellow Hawk.. loved that program..!
I was enjoying the review and breakdown and then we hit Going for Gold and many a memory of a day off school sick came back. Then I entered the rabbit hole of old day time tv quizzes.
Then an hour later I came back here
This was so great. Never mind Evanescence, the Going for Gold and Airwolf flash backs were fab! Thank you 🤣🤣
My 5yo daughter and I really bonded over their first album in 2006. She asked for it every day on the way to daycare!
Good memory!
7:54 ahh Stringfellow Hawk... this just sent me on a complete nostalgia trip, had to watch some Magnum PI and Streethawk as well... damn you Hawkins 😂 and the wheel of fortune Henry Kelly reference... my God... priceless
The fact that you brought up Airwolf was funny, the fact you remembered the main characters name cracked me up. The random things lodged in one’s memory, eh?
You are bringing back my childhood talking about Airwolf!!!
Love the air wolf content! Thanks for a great show 😂
Mate the Going for Gold reference was so left field and this is why I watch you!
Your channel is fun on so many levels, nice to wind down to after a busy day running around. I don't know if I should tell you, but someone tried to scam me via a comment I made on your last cast, when I called them out as Scammers, they called me a Mumu!🤣, which I think Is Nigerian for fool.😆...
Ugh. I saw two different impersonators, and reported them.
Justin needs someone to immediately block those. It looks like this video got hit, too, but I didn’t have time to watch this yesterday. The scammers hit every comment.
God damn... I had forgotten all about Going For Gold. I used to watch then when I was sick from school.
Gonna be singing that all evening now, thanks Justin :-D
Airwolf reference?! YES! Starting this year off right, my friend!
I didn't really like it at first, but it just kept building and getting better and better until I thought, "This is amazing!" Very cool. 🤘
Kudos for the Airwolf reference!!!
I'd say this is the best video you've made and I watched although it's tinged with a personal sadness involving my airwolf school bag I had back in primary school in 1987
super fun reaction.
A particularly top tier video today. Not sure what really made it for me, the Doctor Who reference, or the Henry Kelly reference. Either way the nostalgia made me feel both ancient but also relevant. Thanks for that.
I love you more with each video Justin ✨💫✨! You are a gentleman and true musician and much more! Your reviews of new and older songs are brilliant, informed and educational. I am not a musician but I have a passion for music that I’ve had since a very early age. Absolutely love and appreciate what you do! My dream is to see The Darkness in San Francisco one day!
Oh!!! LOVE the new Evanescence song! Unexpectedly excellent.
The lighting is awesome! You are seriously funny crazy! 😂😂😂😂😂
Song is pretty good!
PS please teach me how to roll an “R”
Lookin' sharp, Justin!
Got the Nick Cave vibe going on today
How good are they?! 🤩🚁Excellent Air Wolf, Dr Who Moog references & my fave Marilyn Manson song and 70's glam rock references in the same video?! Sir- you've outdone yourself & I appreciate it !👏😂
Haha loving the unexpected trip down British TV memory lane in this one, brilliant
Brilliant analysis of the song. You are bang on, great insightful commentary, as always.
*insightful*
@@SuziQ. take your point..however at a stretch.. either or..but I'll change it anyway..thanks.
Good things are worth the wait! Another great anthem from Evanescence for my road trip catalogue 🚙 🎶 … and Amy Lee is one helluva vocalist!
I love the ADD jump from song to song with similar elements....
All I’m thinking after all your descriptions is:
The beautiful people , the beautiful people, daaanaanaaa
I totally get the Muse feel. I think it’s the tasty bass riff. Classic Muse 👌🎶🖤 I also get the Marylin Manson references; Beautiful People rhythms for sure. I started typing this before listening to the whole video and you referred to both songs I was thinking of 😂
Oooh you’ve updated your wall ❤❤
I am glad they did it too. It does have a Muse vibe. It's a good song.
Hope you're in Seattle area soon. I haven't had a chance to go to one of your shows and would love to
Was thinking Muse before you said it. Totally agree 👍🏻
Yes! Muse!!
