I've thought of another meaning behind the red things as well as bookmarking and symbolising love etc. The lyrics say "Why do all the red flags just look like so much fun?", so that links back to the idea of red flags, danger signs that become something nice when you're in love, like being given flowers or a balloon only to tear the petals from the rose, and have the balloon fly off. Just a thought. Loved this, and the music video. Nice job! x

i absolutely adore the music video, as soon as i saw the giant heads i was totally on board because it's just so mad and incredible and a brilliant metaphor and i loved how over the top everything was so much. one of my favourite music video concepts like ever

My little brother walked into me watching the video and was absolutely terrified of the paper mache heads! Honestly, they are a bit frightening but I love the effect that they brought.
I liked the doddlebobble heads. They reminded me of the film Frank. Wonderful work!

genuinely loved the music video bertie. it was really interesting playing around with ratio, and giving it a home-movie kind of feel. i'd love for you to direct some more of dodie's music videos in the future!

If the balloon had been a reference, it felt more like The Red Balloon film than IT--especially since it was filmed in Paris.

I love this "making of" vid, Bert! I like dissections of films, in particular (not of anything else, like dead things because... just, no) like when Dodie dissected her song, Intertwined. Was expecting for there to be one for You and here it is! So thanks. Job well done, I think, and all the elements that just needed vocalizing was addressed with this and so... yeah. That's all :)

The first time I visited Paris was on a French exchange with my school. My boyfriend was taking part in the exchange too and I was so excited to be able to experience such a beautiful and romance place with the person I loved so dearly; but the day the exchanged started he broke up with me..
I can honestly say it was probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had. As dramatic as I sound I'm sure you can understand. Just like Bertie described Paris is a city filled with so much love, so all the things I was so excited to do such as putting a lock with the one I loved on the bridge and kissing him with the eiffel tower looming behind us; these were just painful thought as I visited these places indeed with the one I loved yet he did not love me. I would glance at him occasionally almost hoping he'd notice and glance back, we would talk only because we couldn't avoid it and I hoped just maybe he would realise he was wrong, that he stilled loved me and that there and then he would take me into his arm and say the words to me I longed too hear just one more time. He was my first love, and he continues to be my love.
Once we had returned home, and a couple months had passed we decided to meet and discuss things as our relationship had been quite long and it had ended so suddenly and unexplained. We talked, then we talked some more and continued to do so until when we realised that maybe we could try make things between us work; see if things are meant to be..and I guess they were :)
Sorry for such a long comment of me blabbing on, this just brings back so many memories and feelings I just had to take a moment for pouring my heart out to strangers :)
i definitely looked like an idiot bobblehead watching this video because i was just sitting there vigorously nodding my head every two minutes.. i absolutely loved the video and hearing you explain your process made it even more enjoyable! i really think you made all the right decisions and really nailed this one :) i'm super excited for the next film about your sister- the first one really made an impact on me and so i'm stoked to see what comes next
