They usually have like 50 chairs for resorts This is why every good skier in North America ends up ski touring the backcountry

La Chaussoure in Verbier is ~930 m / 2800 vert and has a constant cabin flow from the bottom, 9:15 - 16:15, taking ~ 6 min 30s for the trip up. If the snow is fresh and there is no one, this is pretty efficient as well.

This looked scary! More than 30 years ago I was living in Utah, near the end of the 1991/92 season I did 11 (afair...) back-to-back runs down the fall line underneath the Snowbird gondola, hitting the same car every time around. I think this was about 10 km vert in 3+ hours. Probably not doable today due to far more skiers/lift lines. 😞
honest answer? Train as much as possible (i.e. weights, cardio, flexibility) and ski as much as possible. But the number one thing is WHO you are skiing with. All the best non & professional skiers I know ski with people that push them. Only a generational savant can get the the top level alone.
Ski with people better than you. Go to a clinic or take some lessons. Pattern your movements in the gym. (Like the samsara programs) also having a good cardio base helps with endurance. The movement patterning was a game changer for me.
Epic laps! But in case you're not aware, JHMR Tram in Teton Village, WY serves up 4,139 feet every 12 minutes. If you're ripping and load direct without a waiting line, it can be done.
I managed 10 tram runs there in one day. Conditions weren't conducive to much off-trail skiing, but there were practically no lines and so I thought I'd make it my personal challenge. Can't remember if I caught consecutive trams, though.
I saw mountain guide Dave Searle posted on his Instagram last week climbing over the same rails at Monte Bianco -- but he didn't race to make the next gondola. I'm also guessing he did it earlier in the day...[EDIT: I'm wrong on both counts!]
well all this stuff here in europe is completely uncontrolled so the chances for cravasses and avalanches are very high. doing stuff like this is actually life threatening and there really is a substantial chance you will injure yourself or die thats why so few people are doing it
This is far from the most vert/time you can get. in Val Thorens the cime caron lift takes 4min to do 900m with fill time its more like 5min. so around 10km vert per hour or 32k feet per hour; It is possible to do 1 lap per gondola but it is exhausting. and I am sure there is much more vert/hour elsewhere. Very cool skiing tho
Cime Caron is really tough to make in my opinion. The long walking disance on the top and the first few meters not beeing especially steep, makes it really hard to catch each and every time. Especially on a little more crowded days when the filling times are usually a bit shorter. But I agree, it's possible. I'd go for Mayerhofen (Ahornbahn) to make it a little easier. Just over 17.000 feet per hour are possible there. 1300 m per run, 4 runs an hour, 7 min time from exit till the next gondola. It's a little less than in ValTho (about 200 m/h), but more realistic to make. I'd only count the traveled hight downwards, so Cime Caron makes up to 5400 m/h (17.7k feet; 6 runs) possible, while Ahornbahn allows for 5200 m/h (17.1 k feet; 4 runs).
