You know? In S3's "The Big Bet", Marcia (if she were there to keep Bobby in line), this is what she would say: BOBBY: (to Rachel) See? I told Greg if I came along, you wouldn't mind. (Rachel just glares at Bobby a little then resumes watching the movie.) JAN: (if she and Cindy were at the movies too) I think she does, Bobby. (As Peter, Jan, and Cindy in one of Peter's girl classmate's car looks on, Greg, Rachel, and Marcia have a short meeting and decide about Greg's "next date" the next time he collaborates with Rachel.) MARCIA: (to Bobby) Next time it is going to be just me, Greg, and Rachel whenever he goes on dates/collabs/outings with Rachel from now on! (turns to Greg) What do you think, Greg? GREG: I have no problem with Marcia tagging along. I mean, "I would be cool with Marcia tagging along the next time". I just do not want Bobby to have another victory! (A "Runaway Guys" parody. Also, George in this clip, he would later appear in the S4 episode "Greg Gets Grounded".) GEORGE: I do not know how to feel about this. Yours is like, "Oh, I am sacrificing!". I just don't want Bobby to get it! Speaking of George in the S4 episode "Greg Gets Grounded", even if Greg (who was grounded from the car keys and driving the car for a week) actually borrowed Alice's bus pass to go to the stadium and buy the tickets (so he could see the rock concert with Rachel), he still would've used a vehicle. And I have a good point with that. (NOTE: Greg did a loophole by driving his friend's George's car. And Carol Brady found out about the incident --that being by George's mother Jenny. Carol Brady told Mike Brady the story. And Mike Brady grounded Greg from leaving the house for 10 days. Then Greg, he was further grounded. So he wasn't allowed to leave the house for 10 days and could only leave the house to go to school. And the only time he was allowed to see his friends while grounded was school hours.) Mike Brady and Carol Brady said that Greg (because he almost caused an accident with the car) was grounded from using the car for a week. And Greg heard that every store in the neighborhood was sold out (including the music store, the book store, and the library). The stadium was the only place to buy the rock concert tickets. Even though it is unknown why he didn't ask Alice if he could borrow her bus pass or ask Carol or Mike to drive him to the stadium isn't made known, asking Alice if he could borrow her bus pass still would mean using a vehicle. Because a METRO bus is most definitely a vehicle. He wasn't allowed to use the car nor any vehicle for a week. If I were Greg and borrowed Alice, Peter, Marcia, Jan, or Cindy's bus passes so I could use the bus and buy the tickets from the stadium, I would be finding a loophole. And then I would be grounded from using the car for 10 days (or perhaps a year, a lustrum, a decade, a century, or even a millennium). Hope Sherwood was in The Brady Bunch about four times. Her first appearance she played Marcia's friend Jenny in The Slumber Caper. Then she played Rachel, Greg's girlfriend in both The Big Bet and Greg Gets Grounded. Finally she played a classmate of Greg's in The Hair-brained Scheme.

And two, Marcia (at the movies) would always be willing to be well behaved. Yes, like not asking for more popcorn (when she had 3 bags already) and then pizza. If I were Greg and I took Rachel out, I would let Marcia tag along (if she wanted to come). Because Marcia would be well-behaved if she tagged along. (That is, despite the fact that she and Jan bossed Greg around to drive them to the library after school.) But despite all that, this would've been appropriate for Marcia. And if I were in Greg's position, I would take Marcia along on my date and collab with Rachel. But --NOT BOBBY!
@@jacobchang8266 You do have a great point. Marcia would have been better to tag along to the Drive -inn instead of Bobby. Bobby was letting it go to his Head that he won the bet and was being a pain in the butt to Greg. Thanks 👍.
I was talking about MARCIA tagging along with GREG and RACHEL instead of BOBBY. (I wouldn't let Peter, Jan, or Cindy join instead as they were way too young anyway.) On the other hand, if Bobby wanted to join (as part of the bet), Marcia would be guarding Bobby in the back seat so he could let Greg and Rachel watch the movie at the drive in. (NOTE: In the Brady siblings, Greg and Marcia are in fact the oldest two kids. So Greg could've just invited Marcia instead if Marcia wanted to tag along with him and Rachel OR Marcia could guard Bobby in the back seat if Bobby wanted to come along.)
Rachel's probably saying to her girlfriends at school, "If you want my advice, don't ever go out on a date with Greg Brady! He's got this annoying little brother named Bobby who likes to tag along and make a pest out of himself!"
@@morganjanelle4282 Yes, I know. She also appeared as two other characters, but this is the one she is most remembered for on the show. I even like to think that if they did another BB reunion film we would see that Greg had gotten remarried to Rachel after having met again at a high school reunion.
0:50-0:56 (Greg returns with the pizza slice which Bobby ordered after Bobby asked for pizza.) GREG: Here is the pizza which you ordered! And that is all of the food you get! (Greg mutters about his date with Rachel.) GREG: (mutters) Our date had nothing to do with my going broke!
As for the frogs in the backseat? That wasn't Bobby's or Peter's fault. Greg was in such a hurry to go get Rachel that he didn't give Bobby and Peter a chance to get their frogs. So it was Greg's fault for the frogs getting loose at the drive in.
That was a different episode. They mentioned this episode in that one. Greg said, "The last time we went to a drive in, I had to take my brother Bobby." Rachel said, "How could I forget that date?" Then they both laugh right before the frogs end up on their pizza.
I have been to the drive-inn along time ago. I didn't have to take a pain in the butt brother with me however. Of course, I never had a convertible either. I felt bad for Greg and his girlfriend when I saw this episode. I grew up watching the Brady Bunch.
Well, like I just said. If Greg still wanted to keep his relationship with Rachel (until he married her) in future episodes of the "Brady Bunch original TV series" era, he (through other dates/collabs/outings) with her could have taken Marcia from then on. Now in S4's "Greg Gets Grounded", Greg was supposed to be grounded from using the car for a week. Besides driving his friend George's car, even if he asked Alice or Marcia if he could borrow their bus passes (as spoken from the "Brady Bunch Review" website), that also still would've been "walking a very fine line" even in that case. I mean, "Even in that case, borrowing Alice's bus pass still would have been considered a loophole/fourth wall". Because Mike would have meant, "No vehicles for one week" (not only using the car for a week, but also not using a bus with a bus pass to go to the stadium to buy the rock concert tickets). If Rachel could drive, Greg could have called her on the phone to pick up tickets from the stadium instead. Then Greg would not have been further grounded in the first place. That would have been the only way to get tickets instead. I mean, "Why could he not just do that instead?". But still, for the other two choices, even if Greg borrowed Alice or Marcia's bus passes or asked Carol to drive him to the stadium, it still would mean using the car. (NOTE: Rachel was the same age as Greg. So since she was in high school, she would've gotten her driver's license in car "early in development" prior to this episode. And so, if Greg called Rachel on the phone and told her to drive to the stadium to buy the tickets, I would have been 100 percent satisfied.) As for the "bus pass" subject, if I were Mike and heard from Carol that Greg used Alice or Marcia's bus pass to ride the bus to the stadium so he could pick up the tickets OR asked Marcia to drive him to the stadium, I (in Mike's position) would ground Greg for 10 days (like he was for borrowing George's car to drive to the stadium so he could buy the tickets). So I have a great point about the "bus pass" subject.
Too bad she didn't try for a third time. She probably felt, "No, I'm not risking a third one with him!" But I have this idea that if they ever did another sort of reunion, Greg had gotten remarried and to Rachel. They met up again at a high school reunion and stayed in touch since then and decided to stay together. Yes, Greg was married to Nora, but she could've passed away or he got divorced from her.
A, if Rachel tried for a third time and for the future Greg could let Marcia tag along if Marcia wanted to tag along. Because Bobby would always be annoying. But B, if Greg wanted find another "love interest", he instead could ask Marcia to help him when he and Marcia were still in high school. It is true though. I have a great point about Marcia helping Greg with "dates" and wanting to tag along too.
Yes. When I was a kid (born 1978) our family car was a 1973 Dodge Charger that looked similar to Mike Brady's car in color. My Dad practically sold the car for nothing in the 80's when it was not a collectors item. Now it and the Barracuda are worth a fortune.
This I my favorite episode of the Brady Bunch though Bobby was very presumptious to tag along on Greg and Rachel's date. Bobby did a fine job annoying Greg.
In the "Greg and Rachel's date" scene, I would not have been surprised if Marcia tagged along (despite having nothing to do with Greg and Bobby's date). If Marcia tagged along, she would not be a threat in annoying Greg.
Bobby (to Rachel): "See, I told Greg if I came along, you wouldn't mind." (Rachel just glares at Bobby a little then resumes watching the movie). Me (watching this): "I think she does, Bobby."
Since Greg had to take Bobby to the drive in since it was part of their bet why didn't he just postpone the date with Rachel? If he had simply explained to her about his situation with Bobby I'm sure she would understand. Besides Bobby pointed out that he didn't care if Rachel came too or not. But I know that Greg was trying to get with Rachel during this whole episode. And the scenario wouldn't have been as funny.
@@melissacooper4282 It probably would've made no difference. Even if Greg did postpone his date with Rachel, Bobby would've wanted to tag along just the same. Knowing Bobby, he probably would've kept it up forever.
Greg could take Marcia instead of Bobby, you know. Because Marcia, she would have been well-behaved. She wouldn't be asking for more popcorn (when she already had 3 bags) then pizza. In fact, when Greg was telling Mike and Carol about it, he could've said, "OK, OK, I COULD JUST CALL OFF THE DATE OR I COULD TAKE MARCIA ALONG!".
Rachel is probably saying to her girlfriends at school the next day, "If you want my advice, don't ever go out on a date with Greg Brady! He's got this annoying little brother named Bobby who likes to tag along and make a pest out of himself!"
That may be. But if Greg still wanted to do this date with Rachel, he would say to Peter, Jan, and Cindy, "Peter, Jan, and Cindy? Keep Bobby here so he does not boss me around!". Marcia could tag along with Greg and Rachel. After all, Marcia did not make a pest of herself.
Thats the same western film on the billboard when Peter and Greg went double dating. Peter was dating that hot one Rachel 😍😍 as he was Phil Packer. Some rock in roller from another highschool. Lol 😂🤣
I still think Marcia should've been there in the first place. In fact, if Greg still wanted to keep Rachel around for "other dates" until she and Rachel got married, Marcia could have tagged along. I know that because Marcia would not have been a pain in the neck like Bobby was in S3's "The Big Bet".
Bobby was being a little jerk in this scene, but I think the car top being damaged was partly Greg's fault too, since he put the top up while Bobby still had the umbrella out. He should have made sure that Bobby had put it away before he put the top up.
It may be that Greg would not want to go on another date with Rachel again. That is, OR he could take Marcia with him from then on if he ever again did dates/collabs/outings with Rachel. Greg, Marcia, and Rachel were in high school at this time of the episode. So I would let just Marcia tag along if I were Greg. I wouldn't take Bobby ever again --NO WAY! But Marcia, yes.
In both episodes with Rachel, we never see Greg and Rachel kiss, notice that? All Greg does it put his arm around her shoulder. Wonder if they even kissed goodnight? Probably not.
Rachel was producer real life daughter so Greg had to behave lol. Well yeh ya never see the kids make out with there dates except for Bobby the only one.
Well, maybe Greg should have taken Marcia instead. Marcia is always well-behaved. Plus, she and Greg were both in high school. If I were Greg, and Marcia wanted to tag along, I would have no problem with that.
I would not have been surprised if Marcia tagged along with Greg and Rachel. Then Marcia could guard Bobby (if he wanted to come with Greg and Rachel) at the drive-in movie while Greg and Rachel were watching the movie. In fact, if Greg let Bobby tag along (on his date with Rachel), one other Brady kid (like Marcia) could tag along too. That way, she could get Bobby to stop bossing Greg around. OR...! When Greg said he would call off the date (the part where he said, "Okay, okay! I will remember! I can ALWAYS call off the date!"), Bobby could release Greg from this "betting challenge" and Marcia could tag along. (That is, in the spite of the fact that Marcia had nothing to do with Greg and Bobby's bet.) And Greg would have no problem if Marcia tagged along with him and Rachel. Marcia was in fact, not annoying Greg.
That’s the easiest back to front seat maneuver ever. Greg can’t leave Bobby’s date alone. He spilled his coke in the console and shorted out the lights.
Omg I felt so sorry for Greg cause Bobby kept ruining his date.If I was Greg I would've told Bobby "You're getting on my last nerve and wait till I let dad know what you're doing and how you're ruining my date with Rachel!" Never take your younger siblings with you on your date night it'll just go all wrong!
Aside from S3's "The Big Bet" and S4's "Greg Gets Grounded", if Greg (back when "The Brady Bunch" was still around) ever wanted to do dates/collabs/outings with Rachel until they were married, that is what could have happened after those 2 episodes. Greg would take Marcia from then on (if Marcia wanted to tag along). You want to know why? Because Marcia, she would have been well behaved --and not just Greg and Rachel being appropriate for her age (as they are in high school --grades 10 to 12). Greg and Rachel would've been in 10th grade, while Marcia would've been in 9th grade. But still, I have a good point about Marcia tagging along if she wanted to. Marcia would be assisting Greg. (NOTE: That is, if Greg wanted to keep doing that with Rachel in every other episode onward through S5. He would take Marcia if Marcia wanted to tag along.) And Bobby would never come --just Marcia.
Yeah, I would've started to get pissed at the way he is treating me and my date and I would've probably ended up like Simpson and slapping him the way Simpson did to his ex-wife. The murdering part would've been next.
I don't think they did. It was the car roof that was a problem. Interesting that several years later a product came out on the market that could've repaired that roof easily.
Well I would stand for Marcia if I were in Greg's position. Because she was in fact appropriate for Greg and Rachel's age (despite being one year younger than Greg).
I totally lost it after umbrella poked through the car top and Bobby’s facial says what wise guy he was being 😂
This whole scene and episode are hysterical!
Did you all see the expression on Bobby's face when the umbrella got stuck in the car roof. I laughed so hard that my stomach hurts! 😂

That is, meaning that Greg, Marcia, and Rachel were in high school. Bobby was way too young. So he should've ended the "bet" in the first place.
I love the scene after this when Greg cuts Bobby with a shiv and laughs hysterically at his date..
classic!!!
Watching this as a kid, I just thought this was the most beautful woman in the WORLD, omg omg...crush crush crush! RACHEL! :)
Rachel's friends ask her: How was your date with Greg Brady? Rachel: You don't want to know.
@sha11235 The part of 'Rachel' (Greg's date) was played by Hope Schwartz, the real-life daughter of Brady Bunch creator Sherwood Schwartz. 🙂
At least she won't need an abortion now.
This is hailarious

(Greg returns with the pizza slice which Bobby ordered after Bobby asked for pizza.)
GREG: Here is the pizza which you ordered! And that is all of the food you get!
(Greg mutters about his date with Rachel.)
GREG: (mutters) Our date had nothing to do with my going broke!

Not too swift Bobby Brady
I think Greg honking the horn was accidental, and was ad-libbed. Bobby actually did not do it

That definitely was a sorry looking pizza.
It always seems that the pizzas on the show were always nasty looking!
@@melissacooper4282 You have a point there, Melissa. I'm sure that Drive-inn theater concession stand pizza always looks terrible.
@@snake9911
Believe me, it tasted terrible too.
@@snake9911 Right up there with bowling alley pizza!
Bobby screwed up two drive in dates with Rachel. This one and the one where he left his frogs in the back seat.
As for the frogs in the backseat? That wasn't Bobby's or Peter's fault. Greg was in such a hurry to go get Rachel that he didn't give Bobby and Peter a chance to get their frogs. So it was Greg's fault for the frogs getting loose at the drive in.
Simple solution, put Bobby in the front seat and you guys go to the back seat.
They go in the back seat, they ain't gonna be watching that movie!
In the next scene Mr Brady said a new top would cost $150. That’s approximately $1000 today.
That's why it was good years later to come out with something that would repair car tops.
The neon signs in the background say:
EXIT Soda Fountain
This was 1972, remember. Release date: January 28 of that year.
Ha! This is that episode with the pizza and frog, I remember this...
John L no this is the bet were Greg loses and becomes Bobby slave
No that was the episode Greg gets grounded. This episode with Bobby tagging along was called The Big Bet.
That was a different episode. They mentioned this episode in that one. Greg said, "The last time we went to a drive in, I had to take my brother Bobby."
Rachel said, "How could I forget that date?"
Then they both laugh right before the frogs end up on their pizza.
@@alexlella8771 Too bad they didn't go on a third date and Rachel is saying, "I'm praying third time's the charm here."
Greg's date was Sherwood Schwartz's daughter.
Right, like he'd try to hit on her with her dad watching this.
Greg always get the cuties
Greg could've responded about the blocking of Bobby's view, "Can't you sit on a different part in the back seat then????"
sha11235 I agree..... but *then* Bobby would be complaining that he couldn't see over the headrests on either of the front seats, lol.
@@sunshinejividen2832 Yeah, he'd complain about everything!
@@sha11235 Lol...that's for sure. ✔💯😂
talk about being a third wheel
It's Jan's fault.
Harris Assment of course !
Okay, why?
And so, if Greg called Rachel on the phone and told her to drive to the stadium to buy the tickets, I would have been 100 percent satisfied.)
As for the "bus pass" subject, if I were Mike and heard from Carol that Greg used Alice or Marcia's bus pass to ride the bus to the stadium so he could pick up the tickets OR asked Marcia to drive him to the stadium, I (in Mike's position) would ground Greg for 10 days (like he was for borrowing George's car to drive to the stadium so he could buy the tickets). So I have a great point about the "bus pass" subject.
Cheesus Crust saves!!😂
Sherwood, would have nothing to worry about greg, coming on to his daughter, because bobby, was there to ruin everything.
Barry even said he was on his best behavior with Hope. I would've been too.
Wonder which of the two dates Rachel went on with Greg she liked better?
I think this is great
How many times has Greg seen this movie?
Yeah, each time they go to the drive-in, they see the Western. I think the idea was to save money so they used stock footage.
@@sha11235 A total of 3 times. Twice with his girlfriend and the time when Peter was Phil Packer. Greg must enjoy watching that Western movie.
Maybe he didn't actually come to see the movie (wink wink)!
And yet Rachel still went out with him again next year. And Peter and Bobby's frog jumped on her head.
Don’t be hitting on the boss’s daughter, Greg.
That 1971 Convertible barracuda is worth 100k dollars Today.
Yes. When I was a kid (born 1978) our family car was a 1973 Dodge Charger that looked similar to Mike Brady's car in color. My Dad practically sold the car for nothing in the 80's when it was not a collectors item. Now it and the Barracuda are worth a fortune.
Not a basic convertible. With a big block, yes.
Poor Greg.
In real life Bobby would have gotten an ass whooping
Greg was a good looking guy.
@@jacobchang7165,
A drive in movie... omg..!
Bobby is sooo cute!
Not from Greg's point view!
Bobby (to Rachel): "See, I told Greg if I came along, you wouldn't mind."
(Rachel just glares at Bobby a little then resumes watching the movie).
Lol 😂🤣
Yeah, use the same footage over and over again to save money. What film was it though?
Peter's date was named Linda. And she was the visiting cousin of Greg's girlfriend Sandra.
@@melissacooper8724 right it was Linda. I remembered when Greg told Peter to say Linda in a lower voice. I don't know why I put Rachel.
Sweetie piee wet would you now ur just being a wise guy😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bobby should not have been there in the first place, but it was funny!
Greg should've postponed his date with Rachel. He knew it wasn't going to be fun with Bobby tagging along.
I think he tried that, but Bobby insisted Greg take him to the movies with Rachel and the parents made Greg do it
In both episodes with Rachel, we never see Greg and Rachel kiss, notice that? All Greg does it put his arm around her shoulder. Wonder if they even kissed goodnight? Probably not.
Rachel was producer real life daughter so Greg had to behave lol. Well yeh ya never see the kids make out with there dates except for Bobby the only one.
@@amrose4214 It was a very different time on TV with dating.
Bobby had a lot of nerve to tag along on Greg and Rachel date. He was quite a.pest and took the joy away from Greg.
Well, maybe Greg should have taken Marcia instead. Marcia is always well-behaved. Plus, she and Greg were both in high school. If I were Greg, and Marcia wanted to tag along, I would have no problem with that.
Wasn't it because Greg lost a bet?
Greg just wanted a stinky pinky 🤷🏻♂️
3:06 Bobby obviously doesn't understand how the female body works
Greg was really pissed at Bobby because he went with them I think Greg wanted to score lol.
I take it greg didn't score that night😢
Greg: "Now, you've done it, wait till Dad sees this."
Is this the one where Bobby is the 'Stinker'?
Poor Greg!
How is this age-inappropriate? It's the Brady Bunch!
I bet you 1:08 wasn't scripted! 😅
I guess Greg had to take things into his own hands after the date.
Who puts onions on pizza?
Awkward!!!! That's not romantic one bit!!! Bet Greg wishes he never made that silly bet!!! Bet ya 5 bucks!!!!
If i win, you gotta do what i say !!!😂😂😂😂😈
Omg.. I was getting anxiety from Bobby and I wasn't rven on the date.
Yeah, I would've started to get pissed at the way he is treating me and my date and I would've probably ended up like Simpson and slapping him the way Simpson did to his ex-wife. The murdering part would've been next.
Greg was getting a handie
Why is this video rated TV-14?
Its the Brady bunch....
Racism.
That was a nice umbrella hope they didn't damage it
I don't think they did. It was the car roof that was a problem. Interesting that several years later a product came out on the market that could've repaired that roof easily.
😂
I couldn't stand Bobby in this episode!
So sit down then
Well I would stand for Marcia if I were in Greg's position. Because she was in fact appropriate for Greg and Rachel's age (despite being one year younger than Greg).
Bobby sque up greg and Rachel date on this episode. Bobby had to make the bet doing anything he says
I love how annoying Bobby is
If Marcia joined instead, she wouldn't be annoying on Greg and Rachel at the drive-in cinema.
