- Sam looks at the design and function of a Trent Bosch "hollowing assistant" tool which makes the chore of hollowing much more enjoyable. Used in conjunction with Trent's 5/8" and 3/4" hollowing tools this device holds the bar securely at the correct angle and eliminates the need to use "excessive force" when hollowing.

Great review, Sam! Trent's tools are definitely on my list of must haves
Looks like a fantastic tool. I love your dog, he has such a human looking face. You look similar :)
Yes we are kindred spirits 🐕
A really in depth and informative review Sam, thanks again.
Cheers
Mike
Thanks for the presentation Sam.
Excellent review of a high end product, I'm sure it's a game changer for someone who turn a lot of hollow forms, can't wait to watch the second part with the demonstration! In fact, going there right now :)
Yuval.
I went to the Atlanta Symposium also, (it was a pleasure to meet you after the opening ceremony) and went looking for a new hollowing system. I have been thinking about this same system after talking to Trent. Though expensive compared to other articulating systems, the quality seems second to none. After seeing your video, looks like my decision is made. Thanks
Jeff
Thanks, It was zoo great to meet you and so many others I have only talked to on the web. This is a fine tool. I highly recommend it. Sam
Beautiful little friend you have there!
I know a really super nice guy who has a huge box elder burl. He was nice enough to go out of his way to me several really nice off cuts. Funny how a chunk of wood can help get a person out of the dumps and back in front of a lathe. My appreciation is more than he will ever know. He says I have a funny accent but to me he is the one with the accent. Nice to know that there is still good people in the world.
Yep, that that big city Akron accent. But i do love a good old Kentucky accent
Sam
Bought the exact same unit after watching this video. (After all manufacturers make all sorts of claims) Simply put its one of, if not the best systems on the market, in my opinion
Convenient tool and an excellent tool. Like!
it sure does look an excellent tool...
cheers...
Can you use chisel that already have the ash handles ?

Would recommend using this system for large hollow forms? Large being up 19" deep.
Boluwaji, I try to keep my hollow forms at 10 or 12 inches deep. The deepest I have gone with the stabilizer is about 10". I think a big part of it is what size bar are you going to use to hollow. I would hesitate to recommend this tool for pieces much more than 12 inches. Mine gets a little "grabby" that far off the tool rest. You might also check with Trent Bosch about this. Sam
Sam, helpful thanks. After 6 years do you still prefer trent’s system over some competitors? I am finally considering the move to a captured system.
Yes I still love it and think it is great. I also have Ron Browns system but I think the Stabilizer is really good. It is well made-has a small footprint and just works really well. Sam
what no laser?
Neat tool. Gotta love the furry shop children!
