QUITTING MY JOB TO TRAVEL FULL-TIME (The Wild Atlantic Way || Dingle)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 чер 2024
- This week we explore the Dingle Peninsula, one of the most amazing spots along the Wild Atlantic Way.
While here we were lucky enough to be put up in a lovely BnB, Harriet's Cottage.
This provided us with a shelter from terrible hail and snow storms. It also gave us a brilliant opportunity to give La Bamba a deep clean and explore the little town of Dingle.
After the storms, the sun broke through and we got our freedom to really explore the Dingle Peninsular.
We decided to drive over the Connor pass, but while on top we spot a small track leading away and decided to make the most of the amazing weather, and hike up it. We are rewarded, with amazing views over the south coast of Dingle and across the water over to Dingle. At the end of a slightly boggy walk across the moors we arrive at a pinnacle jutting out above the lower lying lands beyond. We are really blown away by the beauty.
Returning to the car we drive a short way along the winding mountain road of Conor Pass before stopping at a small waterfall on the side of the road. following the waters to their source we are confronted with Peddlers Lake a large pool surrounded by imposing cliffs. We then drive on to Brandon Point to take in the sea air, we then double back on ourselves to return to Dingle town. Here we enjoyed a pint with new friends and relaxed in the BnB.
The next day we headed out to Slea Head Drive. An amazing drive that skirts along the western tip of the peninsular. We explore ancient ring forts, discovering some of Ireland's distant past and delve underground into a prehistoric souterrain. Driving on we follow a winding road along the rugged cliff tops towards Dunmore Head. This wild headland looks out over the beautiful Blasket Islands. We stop here for some food and visit Coumeenoole Beach. Continuing on along the drive we arrive at Dunquin Pier an amazing structure that winds down from the cliff tops to the rock strewn waters below. further still along the road we come to Gallarus Oratory an amazingly well preserved ancient stone building. Our final stop of the day is Brandon Creek, here the days activities catch up with us and we find ourselves tired and hungry and decided to head back to the AirBnB to rest up for tomorrows adventures. Although this will have to wait until next week...
We finish this vlog with a tour of our AirBnB. We just want to say a big thank you to Anthony and Melissa who let us stay here. The hospitality of the Irish has been unparalleled, and the opportunity of bath was very appreciated.
For more info on our AirBnB check out:

Thank you so much for watching, if you enjoyed it drop us a like.
Feel free to give us a comment and we will try our best to get back to all of them.
Also we have lots more to show you from Dingle and our continued adventures along the WAW, so consider subscribing to get updates on when we upload.

Amazing video Tom and Isabel. 20,000 subscribers on their way, and the Irish Tourist Board should definitely sponsor you. Stay safe. Enjoy your travels. 👏👏👏
As an Irelander I have to compliment you guys on the quality of your vids. I am familiar with most of the Wild Atlantic Way especially Dingle and its surrounds and I have not seen a better vid to show it's splendour than yours. Keep up the great work. 👍
Hiya! Aw thank you - the quality is all down to Tom - he has done well learning how to edit himself! Thank you so much for this - what a compliment!! Toms heads gonna get too big now! :D x

I love that nothing phases you and you're always willing to do the hikes, even when there's no path! You both have such enthusiasm and an appreciation for your surroundings, it's deadly. The drone footage 👏💕👏
I love watching these two. I feel like im almost travelling with them its great 😄 also the editing on this one was tops, well done Tom 👌
Hey Robbie - so pleased you enjoy and feel like you're coming along - amazing!! Passed on your lovely compliments to Tom - he's chuffed thank you!
Tom some great drone piloting. The mountain pics were stunning. And so another chapter in life opens up with exploring without out work. How exciting and I expect daunting for you both. Your Chanel and community is growing rapidly due to your infectious outlook.👍🏻. Ps your finger nails 💅 looked fab Isi.
Ditto that! The drone footage is wonderful! I’ve really got the bug to get on the ferry for an Irish adventure when the weather warms up.
I don’t know if you have ever heard of the Galway band, “The Saw Doctors” . I can recommend the tune “N17” as the perfect accompaniment as you journey around.
Looking forward to your next adventure. All the best!
Hi Paul! What a lovely outlook you have - thank you for being so positive and encouraging - really lovely to read your comment :) ha and wow so pleased you like my nails! I actually had them done by the girl in our thumbnail a couple weeks back (our new irish family)- she's 8 and better than me at painting nails hah.
Hi Anthony! thank you for your wonderful encouragement! I love that you have the Irish travel bug too - you won't regret it - it's breathtakingly beautiful here - everywhere we go haa! follow the WAW and you can't go wrong.. oooh noted about that band and song - listening to it next time we're driviing!
Dingle was a dying fishing village and then Fungi rolled up. He made the place an overnight tourist hotspot and saved the village...hence the statue!
Been out to see him on a boat. Popped up beside us all of a sudden and played the total star, showing off for the bones of an hour.
They reckoned a few years ago he was at least, with a conservative estimate, 40 years old. He was first spotted in Dingle in 1983.
Funny to think it took a marine mammal to highlight the beauty of the land around him!
TippfanMan It wouldn't say that yes when he turned up it would have given the place a lift ,but it was ryans daughter film that really kickstarted tourism interest in dingle.
@@gallowglass2630 I completely forgot about the effect that Ryan's Daughter had.
oooh I'm jealous you got to meet Fungi! Thats so amazing that he was 40 years old and just bought so much tourism here - must have been so cool just knowing you would see Fungi when you came to Dingle - how special! and what a beautiful spot Fungi chose for all those years. So cool he just popped up whilst you were on the boat!
Ooh just looked up Ryan's daughter - will have to give it a watch - thanks !
@@LostInTransit Its a good film

Hiya! Thank youu ! It is a beautiful county - i think we have a lot more to explore yet!
You two are fabulous and so full of energy. Beautifully filmed and edited. Seeing you both smile really warms my heart ❤️
Hi Mark thank youu! It warms my heart to read this
I know you hear it all the time but you are such an inspiration.
I left the UK for Australia in 2004 and am now married to my Aussie girl with our 14 year old Aussie daughter. Back in 2017 after years of me whinging about continued travelling my wife agreed to set off, no plans, see what happens.
We did 3 years around Oz in a camper trailer, home schooling the little one, and are now back in our home of Townsville Queensland but seriously looking at travelling Europe. I feel that I wasted my English upbringing by taking what was on my doorstep for granted.
Love all your travel videos, watch out for 'Camper Trailer around Australia goes Nordic' this coming December!
Cheers Johnnie, Bernie & Charlie.
Both of you are living life. I envy you both in a good way!
Amazing scenery, this is your best yet. Thanks Tom & Isabel, keep living the dream
I love this channel and its great to see around Kerry which is the only county I haven't visited in any real way other than a quick visit to Killarney. Thanks a million, it's great to see your enthusiasm and how you visit the lesser seen parts. Hope you are having the time of your life. ❤
Hi there John - thank you for your positivity! Lovely to read your supportive words! We are very enthusiastic about this landscape - Kerry is def worth exploring - amazing place :)

Hey thank you for your fab support! Like the name of your channel woo ! Thanks so much for watching and yes it was def lovely to have a stop off there! I hope you do get to visit Dingle some day!
I came to Ireland with the plan to stay for a year just after college... it's been 11 years now.. and counting 🥰 came straight to Dingle and honestly everyday, after all those years it still amazes me how beautiful this place is! The constant change of the weather and colours of the landscape is just fantastic, not to mention great people living in and around Dingle 😊 the way you showed Dingle Peninsula is absolutely stunning, so thanks guys 🤗 (YT just showed me your channel and I'm so glad... you just got another subscriber 👋🏻)
Haha, i can see that happening to us. We have really fallen in love, if we had enough money to buy a ruin and start a small holding we would almost certainly never leave Ireland again.
as soon as you said don't open the skylight to Tom .. knew he'd open it.. 🌧️😆
Dingle peninsula is breathtaking .. 😲💯

What stunning views. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
Haha they really were stunning weren't they ! Thank you Greg for your support :)
Isabel and Tom. Just enjoyed yet another episode of your travels or should I say lack of them. After my good wishes for fair weather last week, methinks they didn't mature. Blessing in a way on reflection as you've both had a week to relax in a little well deserved comfort.👏 Had to have been difficult for Isabel to finally give up her job she's put so much into over the last year... All that said, you got back out on the road and have to say you're wonderful exponents for the beauty of the south west. Great flying and awesome footage. Loved the music accompaniment too. Pity so many places closed during winter time but you're certainly making the best of everything as always... Stay safe and safe travelling to you both..🚐👏👏☘
Hi JJ - thank you for your kind words - and thank you for your understanding about my job - you're so right it was really hard to say goodbye but on to the next chapter :) So pleased you enjoyed the music and drone shots - Tom will be pleased to hear that as he puts a lot of work into them! Thank you so much for your lovely well wishes and have a lovely week :)
Looks so beautiful 🥰
I feel we have so much to learn from the people who built such sustainable dry stone wall dwellings that have weathered 5000 years of wild Atlantic Irish coastal winds and storms. How can we not be impressed enough to explore this craft that might otherwise soon be lost if we don’t preserve and teach it to todays youth. It looked so much fun wriggling into that subterranean hidey-hole under the stone beehive dwellings. You were brave to go down there in the dark 👍#ThisGirlCan
Loved this! 👌🏼 reminds me of my happy childhood holidays in West Cork. There are great walks everywhere down there but in particular a gorgeous lake called Barley lake and walk around it near Glengariff, also around Allihies there are really beautiful walks and a meditation centre nearby called Dzogchen Beara, it should be open. You might not have amazon prime but if you do (or the free trial) there’s a series about lighthouses around the coast of Ireland. It’s so interesting and you’ll pass by some of the areas where they are or where the islands are nearby.
Hiya! ooh thank you for the reccie - will note barley lake for when we are in west cork :) I like the sound of the meditation centre - will screenshot this comment for future note - will give that lighthouse series a try too
@@LostInTransit great! Enjoy! Another thought is that you might be able to get the cable car over to Dursey Island, I’m not sure how often they run but you might get lucky! It’s a bit of a scary ride but fun ☺️❤️
Another great vlog guys. The drone footage is savage. Up the Kingdom 💪😄
Hi Brian - ha glad you enjoy the drone shots - i think they really do give a perspective of the vastness of the beauty here!

Thanks Jim! Lovely to read this :)
I have to say the pair of you are an inspiration to the whole of the van community. You bring a beautiful light perspective to your wanderings and I'm delighted to hear you've taken the leap Becky and gone at this full-time. As a journalist, there's a wise old saying, "there's a book in everyone but that's probably where it should stay!" but not in your case. I see great things ahead for you both and once you get the Merch out there and the branding sorted out, you should both be well set to start raking in the dollars. Best of luck and if you need any assistance, just ask.
Hi Edward - What a lovely thing to say - thank you! really thank you so much for your supportive kind words - I'm so pleased i've taken the leap too! feels great to have more time to build our community here and chat with everyone and having more time to explore is amazing!
