I think they screwed up when they said that the eminent threat was coming from space and that it would wipe out mankind. Checkmate the end of the show everybody dies or gets transformed into a hideous monster.
Damn, Dinklage, way to make lemonade -- theatre majors take heed of his quick masterclass at 20-22 minutes in. It was written way up (almost hysterical) with a few valleys, but he played it way down, quick and flat with a few peeks where they really mattered, peppering the crucial moments with just a few grimaces or body rocking. He made it so the character had rehearsed all these thoughts and words while scrutinizing his own self-doubts and apprehensions, so it came out in a false-calm rush at the first available outlet. Where he peaked was where he was still passionate and surprised at his own reactions, not just at the situation but at himself. It made the character deeper than written, because he had already gone through this potential moment over and over in his mind. That's not just embodying a character, that's embodying a character who knows his own character and has wrestled with it. He made it so that the usually gruff hedonist really understood that "the unexamined life is not worth living." Peter was playing a guy who had done that examination, and even though he wasn't happy with everything he found, he accepted the reality of it. He played a character going through the motions of an act he didn't really buy into -- at least not anymore. In the most poignant part of that, he put himself forward in the role when it needed to be put there. "Trust me, I know when life's being unfair [literally gesturing to his own stature as a real person]. Life... way out of line on this one." He took a demeaning shot at himself as the artist, to show how much his character was disgusted with the fate he saw unfolding. That's not easy to do properly, and it won't play well if overused, so it shows how intense the feeling was intended, counterpointing the rest of that practiced and downplayed ramble. The other moment was him saying "I know" with full expression after so much flatness, letting himself literally rock with that, admitting how much the character's core had been crushed by these experiences. This is Peter Dinklage basically directing himself in spite of whatever the script said. They gave him a vapid rant on paper, and he turned it into enlightenment. A less disciplined or insightful actor would have been screaming it like a madman. Peter made that sequence sublime. What was that Clint Eastwood quote? Yah... "A man's got to know his limitations." Peter showed us a man who was watching his own limitations happen in real time, a man standing at the edge of the abyss and saying, "Well, here I am..."
I must agree with you. Dinklage is a superior Actor who brings extra gravitas to each role he takes on. I admire his ability to bring aspects in the human conditions, to the fore, he portrays
Catherine Bell, JAG, had been a fine addition to the show even it just lasted a couple of episodes. To AlternityGM. Yes, it is a mad, mad world in which we live. On the one hand this show had been a major international success - have seen it at least THREE ( ! ) times on Free TV here in Germany and have bought the DVD - but before this, on the other hand, it had been canceled because of commen disinterest among the viewers when it had been aired on PayTV
Ramsey seems to like showing off by informing women that he's a 'great linguist' when he's trying to chat them up. Why doesn't he tell them he's a 'cunning linguist' instead? ;-) I'm sure that would be much more effective.
The NASA letted text is around 38:05 but you have to have really good reflexes to read it. I recommend going to 38:03 and hitting pause just as Dr. Molly Caffrey is saying "and can expect him" in the "We also know Manning is out there and can expect him... statement.
I love this show and wish it would get picked back up by someone but the fact no one wears any PPE around an active infectious agent is driving me crazy. It has already shown to have multiple routes of transmission and they don’t know much about it yet no one is ever wearing protective gear while in contact with infected people, blood, etc. You would even need some type of acoustic protection from it!
Remember, they are continually find new methods of transmission. And besides, if they used PPE for maximum protection, when/where would they remove it? Finally, with PPE we wouldn't be able to see anyone's face.
I'm curious, say they are terra-forming the planet into a glass forest...how is that gonna survive a neutron star radiation flare? or does the glass forest form after the burst!
A gamma ray burst isn't a nuclear explosion, it's a jet of subatomic particles, it'd overwhelm the magneto sphere and basically kill via instantaneous radiation poisoning. the aliens are converting earth life into a form that can survive the Ionising rays... whether we want it or not.
How the fuck would NASA know about the gamma ray burst ahead of time?? Gamma ray bursts travel at the speed of light. There would be nothing there to see until the it hit us.
All the take out coffee cups on this series are running on empty. And I just cannot believe that with Catherine Bell joining this series, they STILL canned the show!! So unfair! Catherine Bell is an absolute asset to ANY show/series. I still remember her in J.A.G - she is a honey:)) (Judge Advocate General).
Good scifi TV series. Never heard of it before I accidentally discovered it on UA-cam. It's hard to believe this unit could keep under wraps all of those bizarre public incidents on the show. These unexplained events would attract media attention as well as inquiries by local govt or local police. Not even the Feds could keep this a secret from the public for too long with strange events occuring all over the country. So in this episode they basically put an entire city, with millions of people, under the equivalent of martial law. That's not going to happen without the public, media & Congress demanding answers.
You're giving people a bit too much credit. You're talking about a public that made Honey Boo-Boo a 'star' and voted an orange faced, mentally unstable 'reality' T.V character as president...'
daniel francis better him then her. Her debacle concerning Russia n the president is starting 2 blow up in her face. W/ all the radiation from the uranium her n Bill sold 2 the Russian's, gonna make 4 a toxic conversation. It'll b a gas watching Bill n Hillary squirm over this 1. N there's no comparison w/ Honey Poopsie n the President, except the fact ur jealous of both.
Face it. The last election was between the two worst presidential candidates ever and the worst candidate won. America will be great at sucking ass again. They never did tell in exactly what way they were going to make America great at now did they? Yeah sucking ass.
water doesn't have dna. water would require too much volume = too much time (they knew Threshold would be onto them quickly), and yield unpredictable and far flung (if any) results, harder to gather in. ...whereas 200 superhumans in one neighborhood is an army.
there was a 14th episode planned and already written #HeadTrip but it got scrapped after the series got cancelled...... would've been nice if that episode would be selected on a crowdfunding campaign ......
On a side note: I recently discovered that Brent Spiner is 73. Though for this series he would be in his late 50s(?). Anyway, I was surprised that they poked fun at his character when the newest member of the team informed him that he had also " hit on her mother ", WHEN SHE WAS 10 YEARS OLD.
The more that i watch this series, I keep thinking that the good Doctor has had an upper lip enhancement. I don't recall seeing her before..I don't have a tv. It has been several years and before that ,I only had a few limited channels, available in the country, so I don't know what she looked like 15 years ago. Last episode, I noticed a lumpy...not much...look on the bottom of her upper lip. on the right side. The plumping might have been a tad uneven. Did anyone else notice this? So many guys have mentioned her lips.....perhaps, someone noticed the same thing.
As much as I am liking this series, it sure sounds/looks like it is close to imploding. According to Wikipedia, at least 2 more seasons were originally " sketched out ", but here at episode 11 it looks like it couldn't go more than 3 or 4 more episodes before the whole U.S. is engulfed.
after 11 episodes I realize that is DooDoo from Star Tracks Next Generation. Oh and the boss of the Threshold team character is Over-Acted, so much it spills over to the next scene.
Couple of shows ago i was having the idea that she might be the treat to humanity and not the evolved guy Now one of the so called infected is kinda confirming this again.
I believe this episode doomed this brilliant series. Not allowed to show GM food as anything other than a godsend on tv, unless in a strictly satirical manner.
brian M Genetic engineering is a process, not an ethic. It is like surgery, or the combustion motor. It is not immoral, bc as a process, it is incapable of morality. The morality is in who implements it. It is a GODSEND in developing countries, and that is never acknowledged by those that see it only in black and white terms. Companies misuse not only the process, but advertising and the legal system as a cocktail for profit. My main objection to GMOs has to do with the intellectual property over many seeds and lumping together of all these different GMOs under one umbrella. But separate the processes from the actors. People didn't complain about seedless grapes and oranges. There are threats from the companies that use genetic engineering, I think they are repugnant. Some of the threats might be in the food. But just know that it, like most things, is better than its detractors claim and worse than its sycophants claim. And spread science education.
Think the genmanifactored aspect is overvalued for this episode. Most of the audience let it pas. So it can´t be a reason for the cancelation of THRESHOLD.
and you believe the technology has been actually given to them? You obviously think that the advent of gmo foods are behind their "supposed" deaths. Show me the proof that "hundreds" of 3rd world farmers are committing suicide. Show me the link between that and GMO. I hope you don't mind if I don't wait though, it will take you a while. And no, some nonsense from one of those holistic blogs won't do - facts, show me facts, from a genuine periodical. DO you eat broccoli? We invented broccoli by manipulating genetics. In most cases GMO is just lab driven processes vs the slower one of mating animals etc. We have been genetically manipulating and modifying plants and animals for thousands of years. I would be more afraid of the way our culture is undermining all science as if it is in itself evil. People worship at the altar of "natural" and herbal or homeopathic... because they believe science and industry are evil... well, why don't those same people know that the "natural" industry IS an industry?? The hype over GMO is just a freaking marketing ploy by the "natural" wellness industry. For god sake, go read some peer reviewed journals on food chem or medicine... instead of blurbs on facebook. YES assume that anyone who is making a lot of money off something has a reason to lie to you, but that includes all those fake hippie types selling you bull shit. Anyone who eats broccoli really cannot bitch about gmo... honestly. And here is the kicker... I am not entirely in favour of specific large scale gmo processes, but I am not against it wholesale bc I know the facts.
'We've collected ever Tomatoe oh oh oh....well, how to demonize a Farmer's Market. If there aren't many other more robust themes for Tomatoe collecting....still a stinker of a series...
This is what is called a classic TV show. Going into 2021, still gripping
This SHOW needs to come back, this is the best show I have seen in a long time!!!!!
I think they screwed up when they said that the eminent threat was coming from space and that it would wipe out mankind. Checkmate the end of the show everybody dies or gets transformed into a hideous monster.
Let´s say the best Mystery Show ! as good as NUMB3RS
I agree. For me, though, the govt official, Whittaker is out of place. His acting spoils it for me.
YeahQ
Yeah

Chuck is ill here ☺. He played god from the movie supernatural with the two handsome fellas, the Winchester brothers😉
Outbreak = Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Just an observation. It still is a good show.
16:50 She a vegatarian that is allergic to tomatos... priceless!
"I'd Like to give my two weeks notice" said the show.

5:55 ANOTHER DOCTOR IN MY LAB !! :::::::::::::::::::::::::::) I love this scene
O my God....Catherine Bell. She's looking younger and prettier than in JAG.
Yener Akdag its the alien tomatoes
someone pls get netflix to bring this show back season 2 and beyond would be a great idea IMHO
Ramsey seems to like showing off by informing women that he's a 'great linguist' when he's trying to chat them up. Why doesn't he tell them he's a 'cunning linguist' instead? ;-) I'm sure that would be much more effective.
They rather would go for " A RICH LINGUIST " ::)
”I'd like to give my two week notice.” 🤣
I can't believe this isn't an international effort. The aliens just needed to go to other countries to infect that population and spread.
Yeah its too bad they seem to have completely dropped the North Korea and Mexican plot lines :/ Probably due to budget.
Yes, focused pretty much on the US. Maybe some links to other places online would have been good?
"Looking at the tip of the iceberg "

There was more protection during Covid incl shutdowns
Great 👌 movie 🎥🍿🎥
Dinklage is a marvelous Actor. I love this series.
Broad daylight in the field "I'll take you too his greenhouse a couple miles from here." Total darkness with flashlights.
I'm curious, say they are terra-forming the planet into a glass forest...how is that gonna survive a neutron star radiation flare? or does the glass forest form after the burst!
It's already forming around that ship they sunk.

Good movie but she is a hopeless actress
something wrong about this show.. why send your most valuable asset to field and risk endangering them ?
And they've been pretty consistent with that. Their security is totally incompetent and making no effort to learn from their mistakes.
I didn't want to leave ne way x
Hold up “How do we know if the baby is infected?” Really it’s birth time is 1 month instead of 9🤦🏿

According to wikipedia, the lovely Catherine Bell - who plays the new doctor - was born in London, with a Scottish father, and a Persian mother.
Was that NASA information letter written by AI? So clinical a reply, about such a grave finding.
