I will never understand ppl complaining about windows lol I’ll take this power over the steam deck any fuckin day. Lol we all have built computers..I’m just so confused how ppl are having difficulties navigating windows with this thing lol I love the ally x. X he battery alone is a reason to upgrade lol just tooo sick.
Yeah, exactly. They'd rather be locked into Steam and buy full-priced games than pay a monthly fee on gamepass unli games that's cheaper than a single game at 50% off on Steam. They accept a lot of limitations in many games and are content with only 800p resolution and no VRR.

I just bought my best friend the steam deck oled..but only because he’s a console gamer and wanted to experience the fun that I have a little so boop..training wheel pc here you go hahaha it’s for console ppl man. Simple as that. Best way to describe it is Android vs Apple. Windows is android..customization and steam deck is Apple.. user friendly af and streamline does only what it needs to. Lolol
So to cover all 3 of your comments, this guys understands it best. The Ally X as well as all windows handhelds are attempting to market to console players. People who likely never really used windows before. Obviously I don’t have an issue with it- but my point is a device like this is for gaming. I wanna be able to pick it up and be in game in less than 1 min. Windows handhelds struggle to be CONSISTENT. Steamdeck is consistent. I know with certainty I don’t have to fuss with any bs windows bugs when trying to get into game. It just works. And for a device like this, that’s what matters most.
Don’t get me wrong, the Ally and Ally X have been the best windows gaming handhelds i’ve used so far- but windows is by far the biggest restriction to making it the best overall handheld.

I used to dream of something like this when I was a kid. Now all I see are people complaining about it 😭
This device is a literal dream of mine since I was a child
The ally x is heavy, and it's a bit smaller than last year's model. These two things actually cramps my hands something last years model never did. So as far as ergonomics go's, the white model is better.
Also, out the box I experienced performance issues. I couldn't play selaco at 60 fps. It was hovering around 41 fps with dips smh. Ill update the console and see if it fares any different.
I love the bigger battery. That's the most important and the major reason anyone should upgrade if they so choose to. I like the sticks better on the first model as well.
Also, no matter what tdp I put it on, it had no effect on fps. Weird.
None of that aligns with what i’ve experienced. Hard to say what could be going on but i’ve said it a million times and i’ll say it again- windows ruins good handheld experiences.
The Ally X praise is crazy. Making me regret getting my steam deck OLED.
I wouldn’t go that far. Windows still sucks. Trust me. I’d say it’s an even split for me right now.
@@XXIVCONCEPT for me windows wouldn’t be the issue, it’s the asymmetrical sticks that’s my biggest problem with the Ally. I’ve been using windows since windows XP. I’ve used windows on small tablets and everything so traversing windows may end up being easier for me than steam os. Tbh I already posted my steam deck up on marketplace, as soon as someone buys it I’m definitely buying the Ally X that thing is awesome
@XXIVCONCEPT windows sucks and it doesn't. Having windows means you access to game pass, all your games will work, access to all store fronts.
Yes, it run multiple updates, firmware updates, may reboots later to finally be able to install your games. But once that is don't, you shouldn't be interacting with the os. Use AC, or playnite and just play your games.
Linux has been losing way to many good games lately that it is a liability.
@FierroSev Always a tough balance. I definitely agree in a ton of ways but sadly, there will be thousands of Ally X owners who’ve never used Windows before. And that’s something we have to consider when something like the Switch or the Steamdeck exist. Windows handhelds are objectively more challenging to use for most users.
@@XXIVCONCEPT I get it, and yeah windows is slightly harder to use. But at the same token, the complications is true with the steam deck as well
For a new user who has been told the steam deck is the best on the market, imagine the frustration when they find out they can’t play their favorite games like Fortnite, CoD, and other games that aren’t compatible. There’s thousands of games that won’t even launch due to proton issues, power of the console, and Linux issues. Can’t even download certain launchers. As a new user, I would be more angry that my $650 steam deck can’t play most of the games I play. Windows main uses is using it with a touchscreen, but even then it’s just inconvenient, not hard and not impossible. And once u got armoury crate and all ur games installed, you rarely need to really deal with windows
I want this so bad. It looks so much better since it is black so you can see the colors on the buttons better
To be honest, the buttons are still very dark in color. I’d say it’s hard to see them vs. the white!
When playing games, do you have to map the buttons per new game or does it just work from the offset on a new game? I read you have to map buttons!
It works right off the bat! I never had to manually map anything. Now- if you're using Steam, this will depend on your steam controller settings. That's unrelated to the Ally specifically. If you launch a game through Steam it'll usually default to your default Steam controller settings, but if you launch through Armoury Crate, it'll sometimes as you which controller scheme you want (based on what you have stored in Armoury Crate). Generally speaking, I never had to map buttons. Every game works by default.
