Thanks for the video, got a couple of questions 1. Does ROG Raikiri Pro has this function built in? 2. If not, can we use the app for this controller? 3. How to pop up the command center button? Like when i want to change the power setting, etc? So here's what i found out 1. No it does not. 2. Yes we can. 3. Here's a little trick. --- Open the Armory crate --- move to setting --- go to "keyboard shortcuts" --- set keyboard shortcuts for opening armoury crate SE and Command Center --- Open the controller companion settings --- Go to profiles, then edit bindings --- choose which button you want to bind, primary or secondary doesn't matter --- choose keyboard, then combo key, then input the bindings the same with the one in armory crate. Steam > Settings > Controller > Desktop Layout > Edit layout however you'd like to navigate your desktop. Just keep Steam open, as long as it stays open you'll be able to use your controller as you'd like. I typed this out using Steam's On-Screen Keyboard on my ROG Ally.
You can just use your phone as a quick and cheap mouse + keyboard. It only need a Bluetooth connection and a free app, then done! Not as good as a real keyboard but works great in a pinch.
Thank you! Great add-on to increase the Ally X functionality! Another option would be to use an Xbox One Chatpad and Xbox Wireless Dongle. This would offer a more practical physical keyboard attached to the Xbox One Controller. However, a USB dock/hub would be required for the dongle.
Yes I’m able to play my EA games while docked! I added this controller app and added EA desktop to my non steam games and boom! I’m able to play EA games with my Xbox elite controller with steam inputs. Thank you Andy, I’ve been trying to replace my Xbox with my handles instead 😊
Great video dude. I was wondering if you could perhaps make a video about how to set up controller companion in detail. For some reason, I can't get the virtual keyboard to work on my lock screen and still have to input my code with a keyboard. Did you bypass a setting? Or download a mod?
the program is nice, but im i missing something? when i open programs that need administration permissions, it freezes, and doesn't work, already check the run as administrator on properties.

I’ve been using msi game stadium for years for just this reason with my gaming laptops, but this looks like a better solution I’ll have to give it a try.
Mine connects great via Bluetooth, but only registers as a second controller... We need an option to swap active controllers like in Steam OS via Steamdeck. it was an easy fix.

Mmm legit. I was just hoping I could leave the ally x in gamepad mode but use M1 to switch right stick into mouse movement. Unfortunately, the armoury doesn't support secondary function for the right stick.
Speaking of docking, i'm considering buying an ally x to (also) dock to my 65 inch tv to be able to play mario kart 8 deluxe in my living room. Would the ally x be powerfull enough on its own to do ?
@@busterizow I'm not sure how good switch emulation is currently with so many ways getting taken down by Nintendo but if they can run the game well it'll be fine on any size TV.

I was just wondering if the ally x would the able to handle it and replace that mini pc, with the added benefit of being a handheld. How can I use my controller on the EA app? (I use Xbox game pass to access ea play as part of game pass ultimate) Whenever I boot Jedi survivor, only the ally’s physical device controls work, not an external controller. I thought this app might help but it’s not helping. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
Try booting up the game with your external controller disconnected, then disable internal controller via Control Centre, enable external and see if that works. Just bear in mind to re-activate the built in controller you'll need to press the Control Centre button and use the touch screen to enable again.
Anyone got an issue with their Ally X, where windows tries to update after restart but on 35% it says "couldnt complete the features, no need to worry -undoing changes". Seriously cant wait for SteamOS because of this ....
It's the spring in your trigger, you have to use grease on it to fix it. You'll have to take off your backplate to get to it but it's a pretty easy fix.

Or...Or...get this, and follow me slowly, since it's VERY tricky - use a PIN, tap the textbox, 4 quick taps on the little numbers on the screen, and BAM! You're in. TA-DA!
But yeah, Controller Companion is an absolute must for Ally X and the Legion Go, which stupidly didn't add a native stick-to-mouse mode in their firmware, like GPD does.

I got that app long ago for the Ally and it is amazing. You can just seat on your couch with your controller and play without issues 👍
