yes
i knew being patient is paying off. They're gonna get it right with these handhelds with a proper balance of power, battery, performance, and presentation.
The incredible thing is that Ally X beats Deck not only at same TDP but even at higher TDP, in AAA games Ally X at 17W gets 3hr while Deck at 15W 2hr, and at 15W Ally X performance is about 40% better than Deck Oled
Can you imagine if game on windows got optimized just like in SteamDeck.
@@neogenesus debloating, changing some settings around and adding a custom fan curve I was able to get an extra 10-20 frames on every single game on the original Ally. I’m kinda upset everyone has just released benchmarks from an Ally X straight out the box and no one posted benchmarks with some optimization done to their device. I’ve seen some people install windows 10 and get even better results.
@@StopJerkingOff hey mate, may I ask for some tipps what to do to debloat and which settings to change? This will certainly be useful for the Ally X as well…
@@Rafael_B I got you bro. First of probably the easiest thing to do is either install bazzite or windows 10 like I said, it automatically changes a whole bunch of settings and over all OS but I don’t mind windows 11 at all so instead I followed all the steps I saw in this video called “the ultimate rog ally tuning guide increase over all performance…..” by a channel called cppc tek. After that I just kept watching more and more similar videos and they all kinda cover the same things but they all have 1 or 2 tips that other don’t so you kinda gotta watch the videos the whole way thru so you don’t miss nothing cuz a lot of things are small things that don’t make that much a difference but they can quickly stack up. Also a lot of people don’t realize how much a difference it can make having a custom fan curve in armoury crate, you really miss out a lot of performance just using the stock operating modes.

The Rog Ally X is really badass. The Rog Ally 2 or whatever the next one is going to be called, is going to really take handheld pc gaming to the next level, with the next gen chipset they use!

ASUS has great engineers, the only issue was the sd card issue/rma stuff.
@@SmMs-r6c do as you want but tbh the ally x is really good for now and it'll be for a good time, the performances are incredible with the battery life combined it's the best choice you can make

Not the first Rog Ali. X is already better, but SteamOS is a competitive edge for Deck.

Ally X trounces both lcd and oled deck. And steamOS isnt an edge because it takes 30m to install bazzite and steamOS on a Ally and you get all the functionality and extras on the Ally with steam os
Man I just got my Legion Go a month ago, kinda regretting it now lol I should've waited... The battery life is atrocious
Honestly I'm fine with the SD OLED battery, the only thing which annoys me about it is that I cannot play certain multiplayer games cause of the anti cheat code..
Honestly I never bought a SD or ever will.

I can't believe we're at the point where a premium product runs at 3 hours for modern games. And I'm sure when the Nintendo Switch 2 comes around its probably still going to run normal games at around 3 hours each. I'm not sure how long I usually game for, it's probably less than an hour, but If I'm still using a handheld and I have to plug it in every few hours that's a bit annoying.
Ive got both the oled and the X, i cant compare them and love both. They go hand in hand for diffferent sotuations .
Will be buying the ally x soon. I have the steam deck oled le and I think I wont sell it either.
Im not gonna lie if the legion go had an oled and a vrr screen and 80w battery id be looking at that direction. That screen is huge but im loving my ally x. I dont miss my steam deck since im dual booting to bazzite. From time to time though i am phantomly reaching for the track pad. That's a missed opportunity from asus
It just impossible to go back from huge 8'8 screen to 7' , games just look more immersive on the bigger screen
@barozzbaro3283 yeah but the missing vrr was a deall breaker for me. I did read somewhere that lenovo might add a vrr screen in the legion go 2. Apparently the screen manufacturer did not have any screens in that size with vrr and to make it we'd probably wouldn't have seen it's release till early 2025 so lenovo didn't want to wait going against asus and valve
This will become a new standard for handheld pc, and its good
I had a legion go battery test with 2D games like ninja turtles TDP 8W and it lasted around 4hrs and 30mins at 5% battery. Not sure why yours is 3hrs only

Thank you so much for taking that insane amount of your time to give us this quality battery test, it is the best one i have seen so far, i would only have maybe prefered to have at the end the tdp be 15w on all, so change the 17 of the X to manual 15w, as to have result that are base on same tdp, but that is nit picking ^^, I would love to see same testing done bu about the performance avg fps, 1% low and so on. Suscribing to hopefully see other great content ;)
Please do a full battery charging test on Asus Rog Ally X.

only battery. Still warranty is crap, if you scratch the screws you are screwed 😅
Steam deck is still the only one that has battery grip from jsaux - I literally have three 74wh batteries with quick grip for the back of the steam deck effectively netting me 50wh+74wh*0.74*3=214wh battery - and the deck itself is more efficient than the ally, giving me more hours of play from the same capacity xD
It did. But still impressive to see how close the results are given the steam deck has 30Wh less battery capacity.
The Deck and Deck OLED have the distinct advantage of having bespoke custom APUs specifically optimized for low voltage usage compared to everyone else. I feel like it's something both ASUS and Lenovo could pursue for future handhelds.
All valve has to do is cram a 80whr battery and then it will be like having a Gameboy advance in 2004
80w battery what do you expect.. And pricey to.. But if if i have enough money ill get one..

It did have an impressive battery when I first tested it.
Things change and it seems the situation changed during this test.
I think I was getting at least double the cyberpunk test on bazzite with legion go.

I am glad i didn't go with the legion go over the z1e i was already sick of charging all the time ... the go is just not worth the money sadly
For me screen size matters more than battery capacity , i couldn't play some games due to small 7" screen (like spellforce 3). On the Legion Go however , I can play any game , even rts

Bigger screen and detachable controller is huge plus I have both and they fit different people.at max tdp ally x is maybe 3 fps more

ROG Ally X has a 80Wh battery while Steam deck has 40Wh.
Now imagine if Steam deck has 80Wh 😅
Although I'd rather Steam retain the dual trackpads than remove it over a bigger battery.

I don't think it's that far off.i just bought Lego last week and its pretty much the same.15 tdp I get 2 hours of play time and turbo mode 45 min 😂😂
Does the Rog x run Ps3 "heavy" games properly?
If i were playing dragons dogma on battery i would cap the framerate at 30 or 40 fps. Same with elden ring
Cool lets see the Deck with an 80Whr battery. So many slobbing on Asus's knob, yes its a good product but the support from them after is nothing short of atrocious. Meanwhile Valve and the Deck has got to be the most proconsumer platform after purchase.

It needs at least 8GB of RAM in order to allow allocation of 8GB of vRAM.

The others have a performance overlay on. It's just smaller looking on theirs.
as someone who read a lot of VNs on his rog Ally, the battery of the X is a dream comes true
i live in latam and here is normal to energy goes out for several hours, be able to read 8hours in a row a VN would help a lot in those days that the power goes out
I mean I'd rather spend less time looking at a nicer display tbh. Once you go oled, like ultra wide, there's no going back.

Impressive showing by the Ally X! On my Steam Deck OLED, I've always opted to use 10W, 11W or 12W for AAA games such as Cyberpunk 2077, mainly for the battery life improvement. For me personally, the performance drop from not using 15W is not significant, as anything(non competitive at least) running at a stable 30-45FPS is playable for me on these devices.
Yeah there's a lot that could've been done in the interest of saving more battery, but I decided to keep things simple and to keep it as close to an apples to apples comparison as I could.

Ally X has 80wh battery. What do you expect? It will be the same if Steam Deck 2 got a 100wh battery and beat the rest of them. At this point no need to compare them just buy the best one on the market when you got the cash. Because they are all going to be replaced again after 12 months. This is the fate of all PC gaming devices. Go console gaming if you want to have a true peace in mind.

I still feel like the legion go is still on top of its game minus the Rams and the battery that the Ally X has there's no difference but if you put some good scripts on the legion go and you optimize the battery and the settings and stuff it'll do justice trust me 👍✌️😎......... And also the Legion go right now is cheaper than Ally x
Is Elden ring on low settings playable?
Consider the software maintenance in the future ... I still prefer Steam Deck for sure.

Wonder how much battery increase if you turned off cpu boost
CPU boost being off helps lower end games so much. It can save you a ton of power. Check Retro Game Corps to show you how much it can save in games
Probably quite a bit more to be honest. But even then the battery savings shown right here are veryyyyyyyyyy nice.
@@HiTechLoLife wait u have CPU boost on??? Turnt that off and you might genuinely still get more battery life out of all the windows devices. CPU boost is unnecessary as the cpus are way more powerful than the GPU
@@fresco_dinero5155for sure better to turn it off there’s only so little few games that actually benefit from it. Easily an extra 20% battery life.
I stream my games to my ally x from my pc and I can play on it all day in the silent mode
wow, must be really time consuming testing all of these
40+ hours of footage not to mention the amount of time needed to edit the video and make graphs.

im gonna wait for the Ally 2 tho. I hope they can make the screen larger to like 8inch and push the battery even further to like 100whr. What i cannot see them doing is slapping oled and making a dedicated linux OS for it.
Instead of making the battery bigger, they should just do what deck oled did, make the chip more efficient
Definitely will give more battery life than just a battery increase, as it lowers the power usage, which is way more valuable than increasing the battery, and it does better even in less intensive games, not just intense ones

Rog ally x screen sucks 7 inch is just too small snd its a shame
The only one with adecent screen is the legion go the rest are too small
I love the fact that Ally X in 25W got double Deck performance with the same battery time.
This is real next-gen. Also new LOW TDP king.
43fps for the steam deck, you are brain dead or just full on coping if you think you are getting more than 80fps. Show gameplay of it on your channel then, maybe you got a sneak peak of the next RDNA4 igpus, because nobody gets those fps with a rog ally.
@@gersongaete1574 Starfield, Immortals, Hellblade2, Avatar, RDR2, Cyberpunk - Ally literally doubles Deck performance in those games. In Dragons Dogma2 it triples Deck performance.
Yes, now think at 2025 Ally 2 with 80Wh, or hopefully even bigger, battery and Strix Point APU, which at just 15W TDP seems to have about the same performance as Z1e at 28W

thumbs up to this video truly apples to apples compared to the rest, If i didnt already have my Deck Oled and Legion Go id probably consider this but as of now the price of admission is a bit to steep to justify battery alone. the next one will need to be Next gen, but cool device regardless.

yes but you tested the same resolution on ally x and steam deck, which I don’t think ally x users will always target. Or am I missing something? Not all ROG Ally X users will want to run games at 720p, sure. But the truly battery conscious would probably do so in the interest of increasing battery life compared to running everything @ 1080p.

It is on battery department but the bigger screen is great now the og ally is absolute garbage on battery and on the number of all other issues a complete waste of tech. I think the oled deck is the better one since it took asus to remake the ally to make it better if lenovo gives us a refresh on the go it can also deliver no doubt
Actually steam oled still close to ally x bettery even though it's bigger because oled screen takes less bettery
The OLED screen does not take less battery. How much it consumes is down to what's onscreen. On average OLED screens consume more power than LCDs

Ally x it's 80w and oled is 50w which gives feel allyx longer than oled In 4h but after test allyx is less than 2h longer than oled which makes if sd had 80w better it will be longer than ally x in 3h
Other thing people don't know it or talked about it , before steam deck exit there's older pc handheld stronger than ally x and lenovo go and they was exit in 2020-2021 with corei7 and 90w bettery , valve said steam deck used to be with oled & with bigger bettery life in the first place but if the device had powerful technology the price will be too much for people, or why steam deck become famous even though it's looks weak device for ayayneo and onexplayer ,but they used Nintendo switch ( the device didn't need to be stronger than ps5 or Xbox) but it's only need to be owned by most of people and trust it
I had a legion go and got an x. X feels better to hold for me and play. Legion has a great stand and the screen is great. You can do integer scaling too.
