@@ChasingTeaabsolutely this, only point I’d add is that millennials are largely not in charge yet either, and the ones that are are making huge changes. I live in a tiny town that has been a retirement village for a very long time and has voted conservative most of my life, but we currently have the youngest mayor ever voted in, he is openly gay, liberal, and very socially progressive millennial. He has done more for our community for infrastructure, environment, and social change than any other mayor, even the old conservatives like him. The change happened because my generation is more actively politically now than they ever have been, we have raised our average 60% millennial voter turnout to near 80% in the past 10 years, boomers and older have been hovering around 80% voter turnout consistently the whole time, we have it harder because we aren’t retired and don’t have as much job flexibility to vote, but people from my generation CARE and we can see the same in a lot of gen x and gen z and even younger boomers. the changes are trickles, but they matter. I know when my generation was young and had little to no ability to change things we were really disenfranchised, but I think when ALL of your generation can vote that’s when you start noticing small changes. Also just something interesting: from 2005 to 2019 the average incoming age of new CEOs increased 14 years This means that the average birth year of a CEO has not budged since 2005. The best predictor of becoming a CEO of our most successful modern institutions? Being a baby boomer. The oldest millennials turned 20 in 2005, almost as soon as we entered the job market all of the higher ranking jobs were and continue to be taken up by boomers. There will be a massive economic, political and social shift when every gen z is of voting age and seeking full time employment. Y’all can make fun of millennials that say gen z looks old, and that we look like freshly born babies, it’s hilarious because it’s just not true. we look our age.
