    Love Knipex pliers...best pliers out there!! The only problem is their engineers are so proactive they keep coming out with better designs so once you buy a set Knipex will have a better design in a year and you'll wish you had them.

    I have used Knipex pliers of this style since 1991 and they're among the best tools in my tool box. I've never had one break or wear out. I have found them to be almost as good as a pipe wrench and almost as good as an end wrench.

    Appreciate you taking the time to explain the subtle differences between the different models. It can be confusing when you see the vast range of variations on the Knipex website. Have you tried the Bahco Quick Adjust Slip Joint Pliers (7224)? It would be interesting to see how they compare to the Knipex.

    Hi there, sorry for going a bit it off topic her but how do you feel about reviewing the Knipex Co Bolt, Compact Bolt Cutters, 71 12 200 or 71 22 200? following your previous videos I have purchased the Raptor and Pliers wrench tools - AWESOME. I contacted Knipex Germany pointing out my purchase came through your review of their top quality product. Kindest regards. Joe.

    I bought these pliers after one of your earlier reviews. I'm a plumber and have used Channel Locks for years. These make the old Channel Locks look silly. I have since purchased 4 other styles for my tool bag. A bit expensive but simply the best. My only fear is losing them on a job site!

    Great review. I hope to pick up one soon. You should put the test fixture with the cobra attached in a hydraulic press and test it to failure to see how much weight would make it slip.

    • @RealToolReviews

      I would have to get one with lower ratings (bench top).....the 20-ton & 35-ton presses both have gauges --- but I am thinking that 2,000 lbs (min on gauge) would bend the metal. I weigh 180 & I don't see how most people would realistically put more force than that on them.

    Just got my first set of Knipex pliers and I went with the newer red button cobra quickset 250mm/10”.
    Now having not tried out the standard or the blue button QS cobras, I can’t say for sure, but I feel like the red button quickset’s are the best because you can just use them like the original cobras if you want (e.g. use the button to close the jaws and use the button to open the jaws too). But you can also take advantage of the quick set feature if you want.
    Only way the red button quickset’s aren’t the best of the 3 is if the quickset feature causes the jaws to accidentally close prematurely when jostling them around to get them in position to use sometimes. Time will tell for me -Also can’t wait for the 250mm/10” pliers wrench to arrive today!

    As a powersports tech these are pretty much the only pliers I use in my box but one thing they absolutely excel at is removing the small bolts on the float bowls of carbs. The phillips head on on the bolts tend to fail. If there is anything there you can use a cordless impact with a quick connect phillips bit or an old fashion impact screwdriver, but if those fail or there just isn't anything on the head to work with those pliers work every time.

    5:15 you got that totally backwards the thin profile is better for hard access fasteners but what you are explaining is the total opposite from the truth more surface area = more grip not less but the cobras vice action makes it grab so well with the smaller jaws not because they are thinner.

    • @chesshooligan1282

      The "kn" sound doesn't exist in English. There's nothing wrong with making the k silent when you're speaking English, just like there's nothing wrong with not rolling the r when the name of a Spanish town comes up in conversation. In fact, I would say pronouncing the k sounds kind of pretentious -- kind of like putting on a French accent when you say "Paris."

    • @Tome4kkkk
      @Tome4kkkk 6 років тому +1

      chesshooligan 1 Also the K is way too long in his pronunciation :) To a national using Kn it sounds like Kyhyneepex. Just a trivia.

    • @circle4922
      @circle4922 6 років тому

      chesshooligan,
      The "kn" sound doesn't exist in English? Yet here people are making/pronouncing it, haha :) I know what you're trying to say.
      There's nothing wrong with trying to do another language justice and pronounce words and sounds the way they're actually spoken. That's not inherently "pretentious", and it sure doesn't seem to be in this particular case either.
      To be honest, I probably pronounce it both ways depending on who I'm talking to or the situation. It doesn't bother me either way in this case :)
      Peace.

    Have you had a chance to use the Knipex auto adjusting pliers? If so, what are your thoughts?

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 років тому

      Yes, I have them. I think that they auto-adjust very well & lock on automatically. The bar in the middle that slides will be something that is annoying to some people. I plan to make a video about it in the next couple months. I can't do back-to-back vids on the same brand though....that would get boring.

    I’m a huge knipex fan. I own many of their tools including several cobras, alligators and pliers wrenches. I’ve owned dewalt version of these and channel locks speedy lock versions. Knipex beat all of them without question….but I found a better one. NWS has shaper harder teeth…,but that’s not one makes them better, it’s the grip. They have that index finger ridge and they feel soooo good in your hands (not the VDE version their like the knipex alligators - non locking) and I’m comparing them to the knipex comfort grip quick sets….nws handles are way nicer and it allows you to get more of a squeeze. Aaaand…their about 10-15 dollars cheaper. Trust me try one out. If you’re in canada Lee valley tools has them on display in store to try before you buy. In the us KC tools has them.

      If you don’t have the jaws at the correct angle & slide it closed, you won’t always have an ideal grip. Meaning that you’d have to press the button to release and try again.

    • @circle4922
      @circle4922 6 років тому +1

      Thanks for the (quick) reply.
      Hmm, sounds like something that wouldn't come to light without having used very much, as I haven't, haha. And also could be annoying. I read in some reviews that people say "when you put it back in your back pocket (for example) it might slide up and change sizes." But from my playing around with my pair's mechanism last night, it seems to have two stages to its button/lock.
      (1) Press button and slide open.
      (2) Slide rear handle up to 'close' either onto work piece or just to a size you feel you want the opening to be at [button clicks/pops out, stage one].
      (3) Then you can 'pull' the rear handle back 'down' again and [slight button click/pops a little *further* out] and this is what appears to actually lock the tool fully into this position. It seems to act just like a standard version of cobras once you do this second "stage" of clicking.
      Maybe give it a try if you haven't, and have the time/are curious. :)
      I'm not sure, though, if what you've noted here is enough that I should cancel my order, lol ;)
      Been watching your vids on and off for years by the way, really well done; to the point and objective. Thanks a lot. I'll subscribe now :D

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  6 років тому +1

      I like the quickset version -- and the NEW style (which is what you ordered) is an improvement over the old ones. I'd probably stick with that, since they have the added functionality.
      The old style quickset cobras would still move after setting a position ..... the new style does lock in place as you describe (I believe).
      I am glad you like the videos! :)

    • @circle4922
      @circle4922 6 років тому +2

      Excellent! Thanks for that. I'll stick with it and try'em out first. I needed a 12" pair (needed=wanted, right?) and they were a bit cheaper than the 10" (which I have two pair of already) so I just clicked buy. I'd love a 12" pair of pliers wrench (one of my favorite tools in life now - amazing tool) but they're $105 CAD right now. Yikes, I'll wait.
      Thanks again man. You're doing a great job.
      Peace.

    • @angelarenard9266
      @angelarenard9266 5 років тому

      I think there may be a little more horizontal play between the jaws than on the other styles. I'd say mine have about double the wobble as my other versions do, but still not that much. Obviously the Knipex pliers are very well made. In a lot of applications, the side to side wobble probably makes no difference, and I only have tried one pair of the Quickset Cobras, so I can't say whether that is true with all of them anyway.

      Hallo,
      . . . . letztlich ist für eine Kaufentscheidung die Qualität ent-
      scheidend, andererseits bricht sich
      keiner einen Zacken aus der Krone
      wenn er die heimische Wirtschaft
      unterstützt. Man kann KNIPEX
      als auch Produkte MADE IN USA
      kaufen! . . . . . möglich ist auch
      CHANNELLOCK oder KLEIN
      oder oder durch Anfragen
      anzuregen in neue Produkte zu
      investieren die außerdem
      ausreichend getestet werden
      auf Funktion; Handhabung
      und Haltbarkeit.
      Leider ist es in Germany nicht
      möglich CHANNELLOCK'S
      oder KLEIN'S oder oder
      zu kaufen, es sei denn man kauft
      bei AMAZON, dort werde ich
      jedoch keinesfalls etwas kaufen

      und Hersteller kaputt macht.

    You and your damn "magic" pliers, Sir. It will be easier in the long run for everyone involved if you just apologize now for the greatly exaggerated abilities of these pliers and let us all just move on. I'm sure many people have been taken in by your witchcraft, myself included, and although it would be very entertaining on a stage in Vegas some of us got real work to do out here and do not need to deal with the hassle of selling our souls to Satan to get our pliers to work as descibed. Thank you for your time. - A concerned viewer
