@@chongomukupa4467 Well, my grandpa (Mr Philip) taught did teach English in Ndola during the 60s and 70s. I'm unsure of the name of the school...I doubt he ever taught in Mansa.

I think poverty is very relative. South Africa is also considered a poor country relative to many countries in Europe because of the high unemployment and the high percentage of people in the country that live below the breadline. Zambia would classify as “poor” despite the capital city looking good because many Zambians in rural areas are unemployed and living below the breadline. But I think it can be very offensive to call someone poor just because others are more wealthy. Poverty is a state of mind. I think someone can be poor even when they have lots of money. Europeans included 😊
Many of these so called poor countries are not poor by my standards because the people living in rural areas might not have jobs but have something to eat and in most cases, villagers do not utilize the things that are in their environments(especially in the case of Africa); if they do , they would be able to eradicate the poverty that is measured by western standards; with this in mind, most rural areas in Africa have to invest in innovation and encourage their people to get into the science fields and in turn, that would solve the poverty problem (everything needed is in their environments).
@@andreamcgehee5072 the land is rich but many of the people are poor. I agree it is because of colonizers and oppressors but one of the big things keeping the people poor today is corruption in the government circles.
Lusaka to the world thanks for sharing Zambia to the world Dee...l love Zambia and its people would like to visit some day last visited a few years back...Enjoy ur friends and all ur subs in peace...✌👌❤🧡💜🙏
Just landed 2days ago from kenya... Really eager to see more of Lusaka and Zambia in general. Right off the bat i love the wide streets you have here.... Kenya yea we have amazing buildings too but everything is so cramped and not enough consideration for walk ways etc
Lusaka needs a face lift, some of these buildings need to go... Especially 7:55, that building is terrible. I remember going inside that building years ago and it was bad. We need our gov to start thinking of a way to reshape the city. The whole city plan is a mess, after traveling around and seeing how other countries design their cities and rebuild their cities, Zambia needs to do that too... Some countries will remove building and create more roads while adding more buildings in better areas. We need that, especially the congestion... Too many cars and not enough roads. The roads are still the same as 30 years ago.
Hi Dee. I heard GREAT things about Zambia. I just sent a message to MD90 about 12 African Americans are coming to Zambia in 2 weeks. I will be there In December
I think the problem with a lot of African countries is that they lack innovation/creativity which makes them look outdated or poor compared to the west. Africa is improving slowly but surely though 🙌🏾🙌🏾
@@nativeamericancowboy5028 the issue is not lack of creativity but lack of resources and misplaced priorities due to corrupt practices..that is also worsened by the exploitative resources based contracts with Western powers who take more than they give and also provide grants with hefty interests rates that prove difficult to service and payback..that cycle has been the norm since most of these countries got independence.

I'm Zambian and can say wealth in Zambia is not evenly distributed. Over 50% of people in my country earn below $1.90. Wealth is in the hands of a few. It is not fair to claim that Zambia is wealthy by looking at a few iconic buildings. The sad reality is that in Lusaka itself, there are a lot of slums with people living below the poverty line. When we talk about poverty, it is of course a relative term and and many cases we are making comparisons with other countries. For example Dee Mwango is from Kenya, Zambia is poorer, their currency is way stronger compared to the Kwacha -dollar rates.
You are technically wrong with your facts that Zambia is the poorest in Africa. It is in fact among the top 20 strongest economies in Africa with a very strong currency than the Rand. It has a higher GDP than Zimbabwe.
My actual surname is BANDA, and I really love Zambia the most regardless of what people around the world can say. I love Zambia. I'm a real Zambian citizen.
What are the statistics in Zambia regarding the following: ●life expectancy at birth? ●infant infant mortality? ●maternal mortality? ●malnutrition levels? Ever been to the shanties like Misisi, Chibolya, John Leng, Old Chawama, Mandevu, Garden and many other compounds during the rain season? If those places were exposed on a video on UA-cam you would probably take offense with the broadcaster for publishing such on video.
Cwale kona niti yeo. I went to that Shanty Compound just before Lusaka Stadium on the Great North Road. OMG! It is another world. They use Pit Latrines many of which have no roof and have short walls, so if you are tall, you better bend. Many of the houses have stones on the roof, flat roofs. I asked why and was told to prevent wind from blowing the iron sheets! Within there I found meat being sold from wheelbarrows, food being sold near a stream of sewer water ... and we have several such compounds. Many of those people have lived in Lusaka for decades but have not been to Manda Hill or Arcades. That is Lusaka.
It is a city which is coming up,if at all we can control street vending and come up with a good plan to build up morden structures alone freedom and cha cha roads with car parks under the structures then it can have a different look. The problem is with the management of the city,if they have run out of ideas they can do enough searching or ask me to help come up with something tangible.
I think needn't to be anxious for these countries because of Africa is a house to fastes growing economy. These ppl would live best soon in near future. I feel sorry for the countries , which ppl suffering abt money and for other political reasons. Big peaces to the countries at war, and hoping for suffered ppl. *🙏*

The buildings in the capital of a country aren't the defining factor of poverty or riches. Try moving out of the city and see how each person is able to survive
Iringa mall is one of the smallest malls in Lusaka.. U can't even compare to malls in kitwe eg mukuba mall in kitwe... I even talk about ecl mall in kitwe....

Very true, I have seen poverty almost every country I have been to - I have been to 3 continents, Europe, Asia, Australia and of course Africa.
Well spoken

Africa is poor because of the European oppressors....by the way Africa is not poor because we supply all nations with our resources.....think about it

Am not comfortable with Yr repetition of 'poor poor country'!. Am not Zambian but uncomfortable coz I don't know where u got Yr information.
My point as well, she has been saying this for now.
Where did she get the data from that is the question she hasn't said.
It's true Zambia is not as poor as the media paints it . Zambia is a rich country that is mismanaged but not poor

Fact is, no country is poor, the issue is inefficient allocation of resources that gives the illusion of a poor country.
