Great re-enactment! Everyone, don't overlook the amazing keyboardist. Nick's original sparkling keyboard patterns were programmed. This keyboardist is playing every nanosecond of a tone note for note! Give him the credit he deserves!
The look on his face when his son just nailed the sax solo and went right into his singing part was incredible. You can feel hiw proud he was and just hearing him crush the vocals while playing afterward took everything up a level. Singing while drumming is incredibly hard. Like, really really hard. He nailed it.
@@JosephTavano You are all so nice. I've loved / played this song a long time. Another version from pandemic: ua-cam.com/video/V9xIHDsPXBQ/v-deo.htmlsi=mH3o2DFsrk_GWkKn
Few people (non musicians) realize how talented John Taylor, Duran Duran bassist was. That guy... whew! This bass playing "Jam Dad" is KILLIN' IT on this bass part. These guys are good! 🦾😎🤙🏼
Most non musicians are clueless about most bassists, sadly. Taylor has always been a beast. It's sad that there are still people who dismiss Duran Duran as some hack teen hearthrob pop band, when they're actually really talented songwriters and musicians.
In addition to everyone’s talent, something that makes these enjoyable to watch is that it is clear that they these folks are having a blast covering these songs
HOLY EFF. GOTTA CALL THIS OUT. Did anyone even see this? The original keyboardist used sequencers. THIS GUY ACTUALLY PLAYED THE PART WITHOUT SEQUENCERS. 🤯🤯🤯
The original didn't use a sequencer, it used an arpeggiator - you hold the chord and the pattern plays based on the setting (typically up, down or random)... I suspect the keyboard player here [pre] recorded that part it in exactly the same way, and is miming here for the video - there is no way you can keep that pace up note perfect for nearly six minutes. Don't get me wrong, these guys are awesome - but their videos clearly include an element of pre-recording along with the [majority of] live vocals and solos.
Looking forward to some Huey Lewis covers. Heart of Rock and Roll? Power of Love? New Drug? Think Huey songs would play perfectly with your playfulness.
Who needs a Jupiter-4 arpeggiator when you can play it by hand? Mad respect. Shout out to Teddy, absolutely nailed the bass line. Drums, vocals, horns, guitar... perfect. 10/10 😸👍

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat the actual hell, people - save some friggin' talent for the rest of the world, would ya?! THIS SLAPS SO GODDAMN HARD!!! Every single one of you absolutely killed it on this, but I gotta give extra love to Smokin' Sweet Teddy P layin' down those sick grooves and Jon, who nailed those keyboard parts note for note!
These people just make you wish you could hang out with them in the garage. The whole band always does a great job, but of particular note, Sweet Teddy and Kestrin really nailed it!
As a bass player I need not mention how good the bass player is. It is obvious. Instead I wish to pay compliments to the drummer. The bass player's partner in crime. Wowsers. He sings too, like Levon Helm.
As a drummer who plays bass, i've always enjoyed our little club in the back. Those guys can have the solos I'm just going to sit down right back here. Oh that's nice. Be nice if we could get a couple trombones back here...
Me too. (they are still my favorite group). DD would love the fact that they chose their song. This group band is really good. Making me miss Duran Duran. 😃😃😃 Their concert was awesome!!!
This is damned incredible. Rio is one of the hardest songs of the 80s to cover well and everyone nailed it. The switch into double time during the sax solo is iconic and it sounded fantastic here.
This is your best cover yet. And that's saying a lot because they are all great. Holy crap Wain is a really good drummer, very impressed. Very impressed with each member of the band. Thanks.
Lots of people talking about the awesome bass, which is totally deserved, but I remember playing the hell out of this song on pro drums in Rock Band, it's a work out and David Wain killed it! 🤘
I have heard this song most of my life, but I never appreciated it until this video. MADJB just brings out somethings that I don't notice in the original. The drums are complex but tight. Same for the bass. The guitar is minimal but essential. The keys have a LOT going on. Sax and trumpet are remarkably satisfying on top of all this. Nadia's laughs fit in so well I was shocked not to hear them when I relistened to the original. Really great work here.
This is the third cover I've listened to today. This is the most I've been entertained all week. I wish they would give the full band credits at the beginning or the end of each video.
Speaking as a long-time fan of Duran Duran… Wow. This vid is sneaky. You think it’s going to be, at best, a cover, or at worst, a spoof. What you have here, though, is something that, intentionally or not, reflects a love of the source material. The original DD hit had ‘moments’ you wanted to hear again, which is why you’d rewind the tape and listen again. They’ve captured many of those moments here. Shout out to all the talented musicians who contributed on this. I wasn’t expecting what I heard. Well done.
That bass line is no joke. But then I realize that the keyboard player is manually doing what is normally the job of a synth arpeggiator. Both seriously impressive!
When I think Duran Duran I think 32nd notes on the high hat and crazy good bass. This cover shows it. I’m giving the bassist a lot of credit not just for this song but for all their songs - they do a lot of songs with less busy bass and he is always rock solid.
I have recommended this band to my coworkers dozens of times based just on the few videos that I have watched. I think that it would be best if the band stayed together and recorded many more videos.
You all worked pretty hard on this one, hard to compliment just one the most... but the keyboard, bassist, and drummer were absolutely CRUSHING it. Next level talent but having a blast.
Everyone here is wonderful. And an extra bit of praise for whomever did the sound mixing to actually let us hear every single part coming together in the whole.
Absolutely everyone in this band is amazing (as a bassist I have amazing respect to the job here) but the drummer singing his heart out is my favorite part of the video! I can almost read in his face: "SInging this while playing this drum part is fucking hard - BUT WATCH ME DO IT PERFECTLY!"
Smashing good cover of a killer song. Props to the bass player as this is an absolute sleerper song when it comes to the bass line. You did right by John Taylor.
I love doing the song in my solo acoustic gig - too fun. Ken gives it a subtle but charming lounge act feel. The laughing in the bridge and the dance moves are perfect. The rhythm section kills it. Keep up the great work guys and gals!
I've loved yinz since WHAS and you're making new fans that wanna see that stuff. Thank you. Scene's from an Italian Restaurant, I did a standing ovation for you in my living room...
Bass and Keys need EXTRA recognition on this one. Like seriously, you guys need to start mentioning this shit. Even the origial band couldn't pull off what I just saw.
You guys...and gals...just keep "killin' it". Not going to say you're the best cover band I've ever heard...but, I certainly CAN'T say you aren't. On the "volume ranking knob", from 1-10, we're turning it up to 11. 👍👍
Bassist is the real hero here
it is definitely an iconic bass part, full of 80's goodness!
Sweet Teddy P gets it DONE
for real, dude's just standing there looking like he knows how badass it is, while ripping off this killer bassline. Champion.
The guy on keyboards manually playing what was an automated arpeggiator part on a Jupiter 4 is no slouch either
100%
Great re-enactment! Everyone, don't overlook the amazing keyboardist. Nick's original sparkling keyboard patterns were programmed. This keyboardist is playing every nanosecond of a tone note for note! Give him the credit he deserves!
I noticed that too. No arpeggiator here!
Noticed that too!
Haha! First thing I noticed.
We used to have that MIDI controler in our music tech lab at the college. NO WAY he's playing that in real time. That keyboard is stiff!
He’s nuts on every song
The 80's wasn't a decade, it was an emotion. 😎👾
My emotion was happy in the 80s 😊
David Wain just tearing it up on drums and vocals at the same time makes me unreasonably happy.

Best channel on UA-cam!
Maybe something from Supertramp in the future?
Supertramp and Badfinger for sure.
I'd really enjoy "Ace of Spades" or "I'm So Bad (Baby I Don't Care)" by Motorhead. I see Lemmy when I watch youse guys.
Id kill for a cover of "I still believe" by the call. Yknow, the song that big sweaty sax guy plays in The Lost Boys?

Bad ass bass playing bro. You are a master.

Sweet Teddy's bass was so hot he had to put that shizz out for a moment
He shouldn't be allowed to perform when women and children are around. That is some devil's music if I've ever heard it.
That bass is doing the work!
Never was a big Duran Duran fan, but I gotta respect John Taylor. The bassist here does a great job. Kudos!

This is NOT an easy song on the bass, so kudos to my dude who's killin it.

Finally the showcase that Sweet Teddy P deserves! It's so fun watching you all have fun.
Great job by everyone, as always! The backup singers brought me extra joy today with their blissfully and delightfully awkward dance moves
Since you've cracked Duran Duran, I'd love to hear the best James Bond song: View to a Kill
