Thank you for this! I found you from your interview on TMBS. Greer is one of those who starts from a kernel of truth but ends up very wrong about alot. I would love to hear your thoughts on Rhyd Wildermuth if you're familiar with his work.
Thanks and glad you enjoyed this. I’m familiar with Rhyd though I must admit I don’t follow his work closely. He had some very thoughtful comments on my first Greer video.
While there is some merit in proposition that history is cyclical it is too simplistic. There are visible patterns and trends we can predict to a degree but they don't account for new permutations coming out of historical progress. Especially, when conventional view of history is linear and does not account for global events that could set us back both in ethics and technology - a simple power outage can make people disregard all the protections of civil society, for example. I'd go with words often attributed to Mark Twain "history doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes". The big reason for this is new things do not appear out of a void that had no discernible past historical patterns. They are followed by things we can look back at and find paradigms and trace back the evolution of what we have now. Oh and yea, Bernie 2020.
I think the VR scene goes against what you are trying to communicate here, seeing as the person in it is walking around in circles constantly. Just a minor thought. Also, I'm disappointed in you. You seemed to be heading towards a tech-conscious Yang supporting thesis and then made a hard left back over to Bernie.
Thank you so much!
I love this content. I guess I'm missing dozens of little channels like this. But great to have found yours!
Chalk another one up for the Current Affairs Aviary! Great video!

Thank you for this video- not feeling in a good state about the British election right now- seeing this makes me feel there is still hope
