No... Wait a minute... Are you telling me that Switzers are still in business?! That some where you can still buy that sweet black delicious candy of satisfying goodness that all other brands of licorice can only mimic?!! Oh lord in heaven! I am 63 years old and had my last taste of Switzers back in 1968!! I have been cheated!!! Why am I wasting my time commenting when I should be finding a way to get my filthy paws on this delicious, never equaled, candy?!!! Good video. See ya, I'm off on a quest!
Henry's candy bar, Clark Bar, and Tum's factories were just a few blocks South on Fourth Street. Switzer's Black Licorice was my favorite, it was always Soft and Chewy, 5 cents at the Senate theater( only 2 Cowboys movies, and a cartoon 10 cents under 12 ) directly across from the Old Saint Louis Courthouse, I lived downtown and at 206 So Sixth Street early 1940s to the late 50s. near South Side and North Side on and off. A lot of everyday History will be lost forever. And that is a shame, for lies live forever, It makes the One's life sound better. It's a lot like Pain, Pain is forgotten until the next one.
When I see green candy good wrapped up as "licorice," I wanna punch whoever at the factory didn't know licorice is black. Period. Red, Green and Purple "licorice" is an abomination.
A- men brother! I didn't even know that Switzers was still in business! If you go back to the video you can see my comments that I posted there! I live in Michigan and if I have to go directly to the factory to get my share of black licorice by golly I will do it! The last time I had any was the Christmas of 1968!
I LOVE licorice. Switzer's was the best ever. I miss it greatly.
