Ali is the greatest in my eyes his whole prime was taken away while he beat the American government in the supreme court during a time where they silenced you 💀 Hard to argue with Sugar Ray his credentials are unbelievable and yes even Ali said he was the best pound for pound fighter to ever do it

Love the video. And thank you for telling me about boxers I didn't even know about. But any list is always subjective and open for interpretation. 7 is just not enough to praise any boxer. Now Sugar Ray Robinson should be on anyone's list of all time boxers., as well as Ali...

Lewis for sure No.1, he was in the hardest era ever in the hardest division ever, he had the world record as the most fighter in the HW to win against champions opponents ( 18 )
He win the golden medal in the Olympic games against the undisputed HW champion riddick bowe
He was the only of two HW champions ever to retired as champion and defeated everyone go inside the ring with him
Now how you can’t put him as the greatest fighter ever?!!!

There is an argument to be made about Joe Louis era sure but an era that had Liston, Patterson, Archie Moore still doing his thing, Williams, Frazier, Norton, foreman, Lyle and so many more can not be called average by anyone's standards. There were so many great fighters. You have to find a way to eliminate some if you're only picking 7. I leave off some great fighters that had a smallish number of fights. A good example is Sugar Ray Leonard, a great fighter but he had only 39 fights. How can we say he compares with not only the greats from way back in time, but even modern era fighters that fought 60 or 70 times? Pernell Whitaker, Floyd Jr., Oscar De La Hoya, and dozens of others fit into that category. 40 to 50 fights is okay, but not when other great fighters proved they could fight 60,70 or 80 times and have great careers. A low number of fights is a strike against these guys, and they also didn't fight with nagging injuries as often as the fighters with twice as many fights.
I also eliminate those that I know participated in fixed fights, with a couple of exceptions. That takes Ali off of my list, Tyson as well. The fighters from before the 1920's and even the 1930's are difficult for me to rate. How can I compare fighters from so long ago, not having seen much of them or much of the guys they fought. Not trying to diminish their greatness, but it helps me to eliminate some, leaving less fighters to choose from.
I would have Pacquiao on my list. He's the only 8 division champion in history, something that very likely will never be equaled. He had 15 fights against Hall of Fame opponents, another 10 to 15 fights against potential HOF opponents, time will tell how many he ends up with. He fought the 3 great Mexicans of the era, Marquez, Morales and Barrera a total of 9 times. He was 7-2 against them, with a total of 12 knockdowns and 3 KO'S. He finished at 62-8, but was probably the most robbed fighter in recent memory. His career record would have been 66-5 if not for being cheated in several fights. He won world titles in 4 decades of his career; as a teenager, in his 20's, 30's and at 40 he beat Keith Thurman to win the welterweight championship. His career was more difficult than for most others, the first half took place in his native country the Philippines, he had a few fights in Thailand. He had to travel to the U.S. if he was to elevate his career. Problem was, he was broke and knew not a soul when he arrived.
In order then I have at #1- the great Sugar Ray Robinson, #2-Manny Pacquiao, #3-Joe Louis, #4-Carlos Monzon, #5-Julio Cesar Chavez, #6-James Toney and at #7-Sonny Liston.

Really like that list. And I agree there are far too many legendary fighters to fit in a list this small. I hated leaving out Duran, hagler and others. I'm thinking of making this into a series for example 7 greatest middleweights or 7 greatest from the 90s or 7 greatest southpaws so I can give shine to as many great fighters as possible.
