Every car manufacturer in 2020- "We need at least 5 compact crossovers in our lineup."
Just what we need another damn suv.
They pay the bills. This is the garbo that sells
@@ABeans07 theyre just lifted hatchbacks with more room tbh it's not all that different and people used to love hatchbacks. i mean, its an entry level
@@ABeans07 especially with how popular the soul and kona are, it makes sense for vw to try and compete with that
Should have called it the Taco 🌮
158hp awd? What’s the point?
VW suv names are finally becoming pronounceable.....somewhat.
The folks at Motorweek are Way Too Kind because this thing looks just like every other Small Crossover out there already..., Böring !
Looks like a VW version for North America of the Skoda Karoq sold in Europe.
Thats exactly what it is.
it absolutely is, its an incredible car for the price
If there isn't already, there is about to be a serious over saturation of compact and subcompact SUVs.
This is the Tiguan 5 be seat or the skoda karoq
The Tiguan cones in two sizes
Could use about 200 hp to make it really interesting, a Taos R if you will. Bet VW makes one, and forgets to export it to the US, leaving this Taos to be yet another underpowered VW product in the States.
My thoughts exactly! I was like that’s not enough power man! Haha. Whatever..
@@joeylazio5989Can add the VW Taos to the list of VW products I would not buy. Looked ok before I heard about the engine.
Who thinks Marshal McCloud or Chief Clifford would approve of this Taos?
I didn't know the US was getting this car. But since the Tiguan grew in size a few years back, this is the size it used to be.
Dimensions compared to the Tiguan should be so slight that powertrains and available options will be the only differentiation between the two models.
....the Jetta has a 1.4T making 147 hp.
The Taos does not get the Jetta’s engine. They modified the 1.4 and bored out it out to a 1.5L and tuned it for slightly more even levels of fuel economy and performance whereas the Jetta is tuned for fuel economy. 😊
......I'm hooked
The crosspost needs this interior.
Is 7 speed DSG, the infamous dry clutch DQ200 gearbox?
No way, it's a wet setup for sure
@@demagab If you are so sure about the setup, can you elaborate please?
A 7-speed wet type DSG would make it a DQ380 or a DQ381. These are normally in higher powered VAG cars like Golf GTi or Audi RS3 or Audi Q3 and VW Arteon. Unless of course VAG has developed a brand new 7-seep wet type DSG for low powered applications.
Front fascia has a touch of Honda. The rear quarter angle has a BMW thing going.
VW suv lineup all share strong design language.
Good Morning To All Of The People Of Mother Week & Thank You
Mother Week
... For joining.
Interesting vehicle naming trend going on....naming your vehicle after a western town, State or ski resort...e.g. Taos, Telluride, Santa Fe, Colorado....etc. waiting for the Chevy “Salt Lake City” full-size SUV.
That does seem to be a trend. Although I think Chevy started the trend way back in the 1960s with the Malibu. They also started selling the Tahoe in the 90s. So Chevy's actually been doing that a long time.
Where is John Davis!
Put all of these SUVs side by side and they all look the same they used to call them "Wally Wagons". Something new needs to arrive.
Wagons offer all the practicality with much better mpg and handling.
General Tao approves.
I thought the T-Roc occupied that market segment already 😳
Not available in the USA
Why would you bother telling us what engine it has but not tell us the horsepower and torque?
Weird omission but the Jetta makes 150HP and about 170lbft of torque. Since they said it uses the same drivetrain with the FWD, I'm guessing that. I think that engine is a little too anemic for this situation.
@@jdm3gee14 haha, cool. But now will they tell me it's 9.1 inches shorter than the Tiguan... so I have to already know THAT one too! lol
I prefer my dad's 2013 tiguan. Lighter and has more power.
Prefer it to what? The Taos doesn’t hit dealers until Spring of next year.
Touse? Like house with a T? I think it’s pronounced Tah-Oz like Taos, New Mexico.
Exactly.
They have a vw factory there??
Well at least it has a better name than “Tiguan” LoL
Ikr. That is probably the worst car name ever.
@@jimdayton8837 Oh yeah....because Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Citation, and Chrysler Cordoba were all such inspired names. At least Tiguan is a name that gets noticed and isn't some meaningless letter/number combination like BMW/Mercedes/Audi/Lexus/Infinity use...
@@pcressma Okay Fusion and Citation (The dreaded X-body's) were odd names but Cordoba was cool. You must be a VW fan if you're defending that awful name.
@@pcressma lol sorry but even if you listed 100 horrible names, the “Tiguan” name would still be on there hahahaha
Why does MotorWeek suddenly feel obliged to sign-off by telling viewers to 'Stay' some way? In classic episodes, all the way up to last year, there was no such strange yet ubiquitous corporate commandment. If this portion of the script persists, hopefully, presenters can be more detailed in future as to what, precisely, is meant by the vague phrase.
Seat Ateca/Skoda Karoq, is that you?
yes
This should've been the Tiguan replacement.
Tim Hortons roll up the rim to win is using this car as a prize. I'm just here to get the details on things I cant have and will probably never win.
не, ну хороший авто< well i like it considering that fact that asteroid is coming, we'll see
? goúd?
Knot a bad looking vehicle🥃👏🏽.
Thx u 🙌🏼😤💀♎..
No beats
VW Taos... .... Really, Really? and VW has some of the blandest exteriors for its 2020 models.... Its like they just said pelt a piece of metal up on the belt and cut some holes for windows... I mean WTF man!
The jetta has a 1.4t not a 1.5t taos has a nee engine !
Lemme guess,made in taco
It looks nice, but why? 😔
The car is utterly unremarkable. Completely neutral on its existence. Thumbs down for no JD. JD *is* Motorweek. This presentation was as bland and unentertaining as the vehicle itself.
Under powered Q5 look-a-like.
Anyone who chooses this over the Honda/Hyundai/Toyota competition deserves all the endless trips to the dealer and 'they all do that' lies that come standard with every VW.
Some people don't want to drive a McSUV so there's that.
I'm personally tired of seeing the same 3 driving down the street, all I see is CRVs and Tucsons.
Endless money pit
What a complete fluff piece rehashing what we all already know about yet another boring VW new model that’s likely to fail to compete with the latest from Japan, Korea, and even the US with the new Buick Encore GX and Chevy Trailblazer that offer features this VW doesn’t. Even worse VW has consistently failed to offer the versions and trim levels buyers want in the US across nearly all their models. VW management continues to treat the US market as if it doesn’t matter just as they have for decades. You can have any Golf you want as long as it’s white with the least popular options and trim level. Not only has VW been consistently rated as one of the least relatable and most trouble prone car brands they also consistently fail to offer what their buyers actually want. So we could all benefit from more honest reporting.
nice shtposting from a know it all, just the nickname alone. its actually a very sucessfull car and basically the strongest offering in its class where it has been available under a different brand logo, Volkswagen is now putting it in a Volkswagen face and see the reaction of americans and canadians. seriously don t even try to mumble about features cause you know nothing
jh5kl Let’s talk features. Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay? Nope. Smart cruise control with start stop? Nope. Semi autonomous driving? Nope. Using your phone or a backup card in place of a key fob? Nope. All of those things are available on the 2021 Hyundai Elantra. VW sucks.
Not bad looking small suv
But VW well known very unreliable cars.
Too bad they are endless money pits and are so complex even VW can't fix em so says Scotty
Scotty is not always right
Plenty of aftermarket to fix/replace what VW got wrong.
I’m a vw owner and my 2016 passat has been more reliable than any of my domestic cars that’s I’ve owned, so vw is reliable now prior to 2012 I would say otherwise tho
scotty is the alex jones of the car industry, get real
Just get a Rav-4 and be done. Instead of this VW unreliable Turd 👎👎
Better still, get a CR-V.
