    You can buy a $40 arbor press at harbor freight and do the same thing. With less time switching each letter and tightening it each time you stamp. I have been stamping for years with the same one I bought at harbor freight for almost 10 years. But I put my flat metal stamping square base over those circular things for more room to stamps. And more sturdy. You just put your stamp under the flat part, gently pull it down to touch the top of the stamp to make sure it’s flush and pull down. If doing a big stamp or copper you do the same thing but whack it with a 2lb hammer on top.It does not damage the press at all.

      Hello! If you don't mind me asking, which one is it? Would you happen to have a name/model or picture of it? Thank you!

      Or if your a good shopper, if your able to, wait for the deal. For example, I have a aging 1 ton arbor press. Just bought a JET 1 ton arbor press for $42 shipped. Granted a lot of Jet products are made for them in China. But I paid the Harbor Freight price for a better name.

    Good Lord the comment section is a hot mess. Thanks for the video, I had absolutely no difficulty understanding the press or its uses.

    I am new to stamping, this made little sense to me, sorry. How do you line up stamps if stamping more than one letter? I was going to buy, but after this, changed my mind. Another video showing how to stamp a line would be great. thank you

    I am considering getting a press. The funny thing is you mention saving time, money, supplies but my biggest problem is accidentally hammering my own finger! I have hypermobile fingers (from EDS) & usually wear silver ring splints, but can’t hold the stamp well when I wear them. I looked at those rubber grip things but I have several sizes of round & square metal stamps. The press also looks so easy, quiet & quick!

      I have EDS too! I know this is an old comment but wanted to say hey! Lol

    Hi! I just received mine but it still does not stamp deep enough. May e I'm not strong enough. Do you have any more tips or tricks. I'm stamping on gold plated stainless steel blanks

    • @chchoicesilver4928
      @chchoicesilver4928 2 роки тому

      Yea it’s stainless steel, that’s gonna be rough to stamp. You could put a pipe on the end and get more leverage but that’ll hurt the press over time

      This is an old thread but it my help someone in the future.
      Stainless steel is a very hard metal and in order to stamp it a larger press ( 2 ton?) may be necessary.
      You could try striking the press ram with a brass hammer (shouldn't damage the ram as brass is much softer than steel) but the stamps will probably not last too long as they may be softer than the stainless steel.

      @@garyronan5568 Yes, I agree, and gold plated is to me even harder to stamp. I don’t know why anyone stamps it. It’s not much of a price difference to other metals and a pain. Also if she is not using the correct stamps made for stainless steel it will be hard to stamp too.

    I have a simular press...as Average Joe has mentioned...you have a problem with applying leverage...some people go to extremes to impress others by modifying the tool...on the opposite side of the actuating shaft is a collar to keep it in place...I removed the collar and placed it in a safe place for future use...I attached a spring to the right side where the handle is...stretched across the front to the opposite side and secured it...the spring keeps the shaft from coming out...if you need to change the position of the handle for more leverage...pull on the handle side ways and now you can adjust the lever position to your advantage and pressure...if this isn't clear to you...contact me...you're not using the press to its full potential...enjoy...!!!

      Meh. I just welded a 30mm? socket with a half inch drive to mine. “Full potential “ is when I connect a 3 foot breaker bar to the end of the socket.. 😂

    I have an arbor press that I purchased through harbor freight. its a 1 ton press. will this work on it?

    • @8188bsck
      @8188bsck 2 роки тому

      I'm not entirely sure I understand your question. It seems like you have relatively the same item in the video but from harbor freight so are you asking if the metal stamps would work on the arbor press? If that's the case you could probably find a video on UA-cam for that. Just search something like "modifying an arbor press to take metal stamps."

    Will this work with the harbor freight press machine? Will the bar fit on it?

      Hello,
      The custom shaft that is included with this 1/2 Ton Press measures 3/4" x 3/4" if that measurement fits the Harbor Freight Press is should work fine. FYI the custom shaft is sold separately if you are only wanting the shaft.

    Will this shaft work with the Harbor Freight 1 ton press? It's very similar to the one you're using.

      It does, i got the 1ton HF arbor press. Its a little tight but if you file down the barrel of the press, itll fit better. It took like 30sec with a hand file.

    bought one in 2-2020 , overall seams nice ,using a 7/16 square dye in the 1/2 hole it never exits straight down ,added a hole in the opposite side to maybe counter effect the one bolt hole that it comes with ( this did not help ) it does press ok but i would rather have a shaft with a hole in the end less that 1/2 inch , seeing you use a hammer ...not keen on beating on the tool when it should press but of course the woman is using it wrong and the company ( or Kirk Earnest ) does not care to correct this video

    • @garyronan5568
      @garyronan5568 Рік тому

      I would say if she wants to use a hammer she should get a brass one or a lead one.
      The brass hammer of the weight needed ( 2 lbs. approximately) is not a cheap tool and lead will eventually disintegrate but neither will damage the press ram like a steel hammer probably will.

    I know U mean well. But U need to learn a little more about tool use. Don,t be offended. Just watch a few vids on Utube here. I used this and larger presses for many yrs and it looks like a few others here have also.

      Buddy, you're the one who clicked on the video to watch it... If you had to watch a video to learn how to use one of the most basic presses on the market that I'm curious why you think you get to chastise her for doing her job.
