  • In this video, I will show you how to create and control a group of devices with one device. This is very important if you want to control all aspects of a group of devices all at once. We will be installing the Trend Setter Smart App that will make this process very simple. This method will work great with SharpTools and automations once you create some groups to control your devices!
    This is especially important for colored light bulbs. Control the color, brightness, hue, and on/off status very easily for as many bulbs as you want all at once using the Trend Setter SmartApp!
    To install the Trend Setter Smart App you must first install the SmartThings Community Installer. Check out this video: • How to Install the Sma...

      Set up groups for rooms where I have multiple smart bulbs (Kitchen, Dining Room, etc.) May try and set up groups with different colors. This has been another very helpful video. Very easy to follow and again GREATLY APPRECIATED!

    I have a floor light with 3 color-changing bulbs in it. I used this to control them as a group. Works perfectly.

    OK great video! Now I just created a group called Master Office Lights and I see it as a thing in Sharp Tools after authorizing it but how do I get it to be a true color controller with one Tile?Right now it can just switch the last color chosen on or off.

    • @mdworkin1
      @mdworkin1 3 роки тому

      Actually I just got it. I had to change the tile's action from Toggle On/Off to Color Picker

    Great way to easily automate a group of devices! Thanks Justin, never knew the Trend Setter app existed, and with the Community Installer, things again are much easier to accomplish!

    If you group two smart switches (that are already in SmartThings) together like this, would it also be able to react if you manually flicked one of the actual switches on the wall? I have a "three-way" dimmer switch with a master control + "remote accessory" that apparently can only be linked together in a smart hub...and I can't figure out how to do it, so the remote accessory doesn't work at all because it doesn't communicate with the master!

      I’m not exactly sure what your situation is but if you group things together it creates basically a switch that turns both on or off etc. Know if you use them individually they will work individually. Maybe connect with me on Facebook so we can talk back-and-forth to try and figure out your problem.

    Hi
    Thanks for your great videos. I am just starting out on my Smartthings journey. I wanted to install the ST-Community installer using Github integration. But the Github Integration is not available on my SmartThings hub. Is that due to that changes recently made in October (Closing of the Classic App).
    How do you recommend that I install ST-Community installer? Is my only option to paste in the code manually or is there a smarter way so I still get the updates for the app automatically?

    • @SimplySmart123
      @SimplySmart123  3 роки тому

      Are you located in the United States? The GitHub integration is only available in certain locations so you may not have that available to you. But like you said you can just copy and paste the code. It’s not as convenient but it does work.

      @@SimplySmart123 No I am located in Denmark :) So that might be the problem then. Thanks for clarifying that. I will just proceed with the copy pasting :D
      And thanks again for some awesome videos. They are very helpful.

      It’s unfortunate that smart things in other companies don’t make everything available in all countries. I don’t know what the reason for that is but it sure is annoying. I’m glad you are enjoying the content!

    How does it link with Alexa?

    • @SimplySmart123
      @SimplySmart123  2 роки тому +1

      As long as you have your Alexa linked to your SmartThings Hub it will just be another device in Alexa.
