There really arent any "turntable speakers" like this, very few have a built in phono stage. Just get the best speakers you can. If you want a setup thats almost as simple as the one in this video, look for good powered speakers and get a seperate phono stage :)

I love my R-15PMs, and I got the sickest price for them this holiday season $199 plus $224 for a Klipsch R-120SW! THAT IS RIGHT $199 the whole set up cost me $424 plus tax and I think that is the cheapest anyone has gotten this set up for!
Bought them from BestBuy for $279! Decided a few days later that I wanted a Subwoofer too since the R-120SW went on sale for $224 also at BestBuy and I realized my Amex had a $30 discount if I spent over $300! So I took my empty R-15PM box with me asked the guy at my local BestBuy to return my R-15PM speakers and I would buy it right back along with the Subwoofer so I get the discount from my credit cars, but when he rang them back up in the store they only rang up for $199 it was an unadvertised clearance sale they had at the STORE! :D

The digital port can also support a CD Player or Blu - ray/SACD/ DVD player as well. (SACD [Super Audio Compact Disc] players also need a surround hook up since SACD is a higher quality format that supports multi channel and 2 channel. It is truly an audiophile quality CD)
Klipsch speakers are amazing, I've got the KG5.2's hooked to my living room vinyl set up and I run another set the pro medias on my computer. I'm always reminded of an old saying my dad taught me, "quality is remembered long after price is forgotten" these speakers will last you years if taken care of and hold their value. Then we come to the primary factor which is sound, I can guarantee these sound amazing and will sound bigger than they are. I find it odd that anyone who collects vinyl and will drop 50 to 100 bucks on an album will then turn around and play it on 20 dollar speakers...that makes zero sense.
Sounds great, but $499 is a bit out of my budget for now. Love all the options and would love to have a pair to listen with my turntable or smartphone. On my wishlist!

They are not cheap! In my country, the authorize dealers sells them at S$999. But the speakers sounds superb. Worth the money.

@ lol this comment was 4 years ago. I don't even remember the speaker (or the price) but my guess is that it was a ridiculous price, and you could get mid level products for better price. I was also a frugal college student because I didn't want to take out any loans.
+Vinyl Eyezz I love Klipsch speakers. The horn tweeter projects the sound right at the listener. BTW the brass color is actually a ceramic coating that gives the drivers more stability. I bought them because a Klipsch speaker doesn't add anything to the sound of the recording.

Hi Jarrett. Very nice review, Do not put speakers on the same Table or even near the Player. Get them on Proper Stands. This will tighten up the Treble and Bass. Does the Bass get Directed to the Sub when connected. Did You run them In before the Review this makes a Big difference. Cheers.

Interested in how heavier stuff like The Acacia Strain, Between The Buried and Me, and everything in-between sound on these speakers. I feel most reviewers gear towards pop, hip-hop, rap, and alternative as reference points. Which is fair since those are more standard and easily accessible, but since my record collection is mainly made up metal and hardcore, those other genres don't seem to accurately represent the majority of my collection. If anyone personally knows , or could point me in the direction of another channel, article, or reviewer that touches on this subject, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
This is a great idea. The problem with rear ported speakers is that they need to be away from the rear wall.
I've got these speakers hooked up to my LP120. I received them in the mail 2 days ago. The first day they worked perfect. The second day I couldn't get any sound out of the speakers on any input source. I don't have it grounded (does that matter?). When I flip the power switch on back you can hear the speakers turn off but still nothing during playback. I have tried everything. Anyone have any tips?

I felt compelled to share with you that I just purchased a pair of Klipsch R-15M AND an Onkyo TX-8020 receiver for $65.00 at an Estate sale.
Of course they don't have the internal amp, bluetooth, etc. but I hope they sound as good as you described them.
I also got a pair of Edifier R1700BT bluetooth speakers. Have you heard about them? Any comments about them?

I wouldn't have a turntable but I would want to hook up a CD player can I use the turntable outlet for a CD player that doesn't have an amplifier that's something you didn't discuss but I'm going to get the speakers

This is the first I’m hearing of these Klipsch speakers, but if they are that good and are suited to exactly what I’m looking for, maybe I could’ve bought those instead and wouldn’t have had to worry about purchasing a preamp. I definitely would’ve done it if I had seen that big price drop

As far as I know external pre-amps don't need grounding. Old fashioned (and some new/decent non-USB) record players do. That's why there's a ground thingy on (hi-fi) amplifiers that have a built-in phono pre-amp and on (most) external phono pre-amps.
+fenderwoods that makes sense, it's always good to have a ground post just in case.
+Vinyl Eyezz I've had turntables in the past with a grounding terminal and if it came loose from the amp connection you would hear an annoying AC hum. If your turntable does but your amp doesn't have one you can simply solder a crocodile clip to the wire and connect it to the amp's chassis somewhere unobtrusive.
Does it have a headphone jack on the speakers
I have a pair of Edifier R1700BT bluetooth speakers. I don't really care for the bluetooth, but I asked them for Christmas before the non-bluetooth were back in stock. They're pretty good, but I've yet to see how loud they get, and the bass can be a bit much sometimes.

I have a Fluance RT81, with internal preamp, and whether i use the speaker preamp or the turntable preamp there is a hum that I cannot get rid of! Thw higher the volume the louder it gets. Yes ground wire is connected, gets louder if it isn't. If the speaker preamp is being used it is slightly louder than if I use the turntable preamp. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am really interested in these speakers; I just got the audio technica LP 120 for Christmas based on your recommendations. I am a big fan of your videos and how thorough you are when explaining. My main question for these speakers, since they are Bluetooth, can I use my wireless Beats studio headphones? I'm not interested in buying a receiver at this time due to too much clutter where I have my setup.

How do the KLIPSCH R-15PM sound compared to the Klipsch RP-150M ? Is the quality the same, more or less?
I'm looking to buy an Audio Technica AT LP120 HS10 and I want to pair it with some quality speakers. I'm wondering if there is a significant sound difference between the two speakers above.
If there is a significant difference then I will buy the RP 150M and of course an amplifier... However it would be nice not to if the sound is the same :)

Isn't the ground connector for hooking your turntable to it ? I mean, decent turntables also do have a single ground wire, that connects to the chassis.
i too have the audiotechnica lp120 and these speakers, however when i plug it directly into the phono input i just get loud static/popping, but if i plug it into the aux adapter and then to the the aux hole it works. is this normal? or is my turntable faulty?

I have a question, I am new to vinyl. I have the Audio Technica lp60 and I bought these speakers but I am confused on what the second speaker is for? This may be a dumb question but help is appreciated
What are the speaker cases made of ? Is it wood or some metal (aluminum) ? And I've never been a big fan of compact speakers. Because my turntable isn't where I get my Hi-Fi fix, I've always liked the old and sturdy 3-ways speakers from the 70s. I have a pair or Celestion Ditton 22 and a pair of Marantz HD600, both in perfect condition and I love the vintage British sound of the Ditton. The sound quality is great, slightly coloured, with good natural bass thanks to the massive wooden cases and unlike those Klipsch, you can get them for like 30$ at a yard sale. So unless you want a high fidelity set up, don't blow all your money on speakers, get some vintage ones for almost nothing -because they don't make them like that anymore and those babies are built to last.
+NoxMD I believe these are made out of wood. They're pretty sturdy and heavy, built very solid.

Your video was extremely helpful, thank you! =) I love how these speakers allow for a lot of different equipments. And speaking of which: can I plug in my xbox 360 via optical cable or is there a better solution?
you should make a video on things you can do to get around not having certain cables, like adapters that would, say, let you plug your phone into an ooolllldddd sound system.
for example, I got around this by using the L/R input cable from a turtle beach headset plugged into an aux cable, and plugged these into the amp on another channel.
just spitballing ideas :p

I just bought a pair of these...they are beautiful.Look amazing ,the build quality is amazing and the blu tooth inclusion is brilliant. BUT,unless you're going to fork out the same price again for the sub-woofer (sold separately),then forget about it.
It IS all about the bass....and they ain't got it. Now I'm off to buy the sodding sub.

+Travis D If you want to only play vinyl records, then it's a good choice. Yeah, you can use that ground post for older style record players that have a ground wire.

+LewRolling as a rule of thumb I don't usually recommend the "all-in-one" turntables. Their design looks similar to the Crosley, being that it has the small built in speakers and no counter weight. I'd recommend a U-Turn Orbit or an Audio Technica LP-120 instead! And thanks for watching!

Hi Jarrett, great video and very good info. But do you use your turntable using the built in pre-amp and run it into the line-setting on these speaker or do u use the phono-settings on the audiotechnika and run it into the pre-amp of the Klipsch? Which option souds better?

Hello Guys! I have a question. I have a Sony str-ks360 5.1 Channel Home Theater System receiver with the speakers and subwoofer. Can I plug this to my audio technica LP-120? The Sony receiver does have a red and white connector. What do you think? Would this work or would it damage my turntable? How would you recommend connecting them? Thank you!
