  • Thai Airways has confirmed unused Airbus and Boeing aircraft have been sold as the airline offloads 18 jets to cut ongoing expenses. Next, EVA Air announced it would purchase four additional Boeing 787-10 jets for fleet expansion plans, with delivery in 2029. Lastly, Emirates announced that, starting November 4, it'll relaunch daily flights to Edinburgh in Scotland utilising its newly delivered Airbus A350-900.

    I am so so excited for Emirates to return to Edinburgh, especially with their brand new A350-900, Honestly think they will enjoy the a350-900 and end up eventually ordering a mass amount of A350-1000!

      they're smart, pushed RR to fix their engine saga

      @@Rsantana380
      There is no engine saga, except for the mythology used by Tim Clark to get the RR T/C maintenance price down on the XWB-97, despite the fact that its a 'souped up' version of its sister engine, the XWB-84, and therefore requires that much more maintenance. However, RR have refused to budge on price, but hope to uprate the engine. If Emirates aren't careful, and the B777X is further delayed, they will regret dragging their feet on ordering the A350-1000, because if another big customer comes along for the A350 this summer, Emirates will find the slots all gone for when they might need it most.
      Of course, they still have the A380, but I don't think its their intention to fly them forever, even if refueling them in oil rich UAE, is probably cheaper than bottled water. Clark is gambling that things go right for Emirates, which is why his stress levels spike occasionally and he gives both Boeing and RR a blast of his bad temper. Despite his knighthood, Clark aint no gentleman..............

    Whilst Embraer is not interested in a clean sheet 737 / A320 competitor, but I wish they would consider stretching the E195 by 4 to 5 rows giving it Max 7 / A319 capacity while maintaining flight crew type ratings and being easier and cheaper to design and certify than a clean sheet design. It would not compete on range but there are a lot of routes that can be flown by an aircraft with 2,400nm range which is what I expect a stretched E2 jet would achieve at 100% capacity.

    I wonder who are buying / will buy the Thai aircraft ... Sitting on the tarmac for several years in the heat and humidity can't be good. I really hope they will get to see some new action and not just sent to be broken up.

    I mean, the 777 serves first class which has a mass population in the Emirates fleet. I don’t think the 350s needs them.

    • @DavidTheScientist
      @DavidTheScientist 22 дні тому +1

      I don't think the 777X is a good idea for Thai when they seem to struggle to fill even 777-300s or A340-600s reliably. The A350-1000 is a direct replacement for a 777-300 so would likely be the largest thing they'd need.
      As for the MAX, why? Very few prestige operators still want them, for good reason. I certainly don't want to fly one.

      Thai recently had to release a statement to the press specifically mentioning that their big order with Boeing didn’t include the 737 Max. This was their response to the public’s criticism on airline for placing such an order with the turmoil going on at Boeing. I don’t think they will ever order the Max after getting a glimpse of the public’s perception of the plane

      You are really missing out. Emirates has better food, better seats, better variety of shows on the entertainment system than other full service airlines and often at a lower price. Once you've flown with them you won't fly with another full service airline on any route they serve.
