An other reason Ottawa is the capital of Canada is that it is on the border of French-Canada and English-Canada

Should've given the netherlands a spot aswel. The capital is Amsterdam but the government, royal family and most embassies are in The Hague. Aswel as the international court of justice is in The Hague.

Also interesting why The Hague not the capitol is of the Netherlands. Amsterdam has no Parliament, no seat of Government, no embassies, no supreme court. These are all located in The Hague. Even the royal family and the priminister lives in The Hague.
You forgot Switzerland: they don't have a capital either, despite Bern being the “facto capital” (as you find the Federal institutions and the embassies), just like in Nauru, where Yaren is also the “facto capital” (for the same reasons).

But actually, about Canada, I would like to respecfully correct some assumptions about the selection of its Capital City. The criteria of "defensibility" is only half of the truth. Indeed the political elites wanted to better protect its capital in case of an American invasion, so the region of Ottawa was selected.
But look at map and you can come with 2 major interrogations : 1-Ottawa has been built on the southern shore of the Ottawa river, wouldn't it be wiser for protective purpose to build it on the northern shore?, and 2- Quebec City is even farther from the American main border, is built on the northen shore of the wider Saint-Lawrence river, suffers from a harsher winter climate, which is always a major add-on for defensibility, and historically has always been a major political centre of Canada so the basis for it were already set up, wouldn't it be objectively a better location to settle a Capital?
So the other half of the truth comes to a phenomenon you didn't expose : a mix of economical and ethnic favoritism.
As a matter of fact, in that era, the political and economical elites of Canada were overwhelmingly British/English Canadians who generally had, it is fair to say, attitudes ranging from unsympathetic to very scornful toward another major ethnic group of Canada : the French Canadians (but anyway even many French Canadian elites had that same attitude toward their people, so we can't blame them that much in a sense). So, in the minds of those elites, letting the Capital City of the federal government within the borders of the only main French Canadian "state", the province of Quebec, was a non-sense.
Some says that the site of Ottawa has been mindly selected to reject favoritism from both main people of Canada, French Canadians and English Canadians, putting it at the crossroads of the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. Well...... more or less I think. It may have delighted some foolish Quebec French Canadian nationalists, but there is a major economical problem with it and almost no one realises it. At the contrary of in almost every country in the world, Ottawa, the Capital City of Canada, doesn't belong to a federal district of its own, it is fully part of the province of Ontario. So, all taxes related to people working, staying and consuming in Ottawa enriches the city but also the provincial government of Ontario. Even worse, all people within the metropolitan area, which in time naturally included the area just north of it on the other side of the river in Quebec, even though living outside of the Capital city, would have to pay some taxes by working in Ottawa, and so enrich the province of Ontario. Also as expected, Ottawa and its southern suburbs became mostly "English Canadian" while the northern suburbs located in Quebec, but still fully integrated to the Ottawa metropolitan area, overwhelmingly "French Canadian". By the way, Ontario naturally became the most dominant province of Canada economically speaking, even though it wasn't at the time of the selection of Ottawa as the Capital.
I'm pretty sure those dirty little tricks were planned all along, even 150 years earlier... I mean, finding every possible way to steal some money and hard-work from the French Canadian people is literally among the greatest aspect of the Canadian History.

Another interesting example is the Netherlands, where Amsterdam is the largest city and the official capital while the government is located in The Hague, which is the third largest city.

Well you could argue that the UK has 4 capitals (London city, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast). But then again, I from Scotland.

actually, Ottawa was chosen as a compromise between Toronto and Montreal, similar to the Australian examples, except that Toronto was English and Montreal is french.

Good video, just to say London isn't the capital because it is so powerful and important, but it became so powerful and important after becoming capital, largely due to its locaction which offers it both access to, and protection from Europe.

You pronounced Canberra wrong. It's pronounced 'Can-bra'. Also, Melbourne is pronounced 'Mel-bon'. Or at least that's how Australians pronounce it. South Sudan was also absent from the maps, though I could forgive you since you didn't make them. Otherwise, great video!
