Absolutely loved this house built in the late 1800’s. From what I was told by a neighbor it was built between 1875-1880 for a very wealthy family back in the day. The stained glass window/ stained glass on the mantle was awesome, plus the beautiful staircase. Such a unique house, never seen one quite like it with the rounded turret shaped exterior and large wraparound porch.
Also show some love over too my southern friends at Dusty film : / @dustyfilm312

Beautiful house! The staircase is also beautiful, now that's a front porch!, wow. So many houses have tiny porches, this one is epic. And a shame to see it falling down , no one to sit out on it and relax in the breeze. Thanks for sharing another great video, have a blessed week end. 🌻🌼🙂

I'm always shocked and saddened by how anyone could let such a beautiful house fall to ruins. Just looking at it inside and out you can see it was a fine manor house for a well-off family when it was built. The number of people who have lived in it over the decades, oh the stories those walls could tell if walls could talk. The families, the children born there, those who lived and died there. All frozen in time and forever connected by the walls and roof of that old magnificent house. And now they're all turning to dust and fading away. It's times like this I wish I were wealthy so I could buy and restore them to their former glory. I'd live in that house if I could afford to fix it up the way it used to be.

The maintenance costs must have been expensive along with the property taxes. If you lose that income….the house usually goes too. Looks like they may have been running some kind of business in there….I noticed some computer monitors and a large printer on a table on the first floor. When the money runs out….everything goes straight to hell. It takes lots of money to keep these big , old homes in good condition. They’re constant maintenance a/k/a the money pits. You keep pouring money into the home to keep it up and running. A big house like that will always have something that needs to be repaired , updated and/or renovated. Just think what a new roof on a house like that would cost. There’s the chimney upkeep also…..they gotta be cleaned out and that costs. Someone has to get up there and clean out those gutters….that costs, especially with all the trees around there. Someone has to clean that place and that’s a lot to clean….the floors, the tile, all those windows, etc… rich people aren’t going to do all that them self. They hire people to clean and that costs a lot. I can see how a family could go bankrupt Trying to pay for and maintain a home like that.

Believe or not a lot of times it comes down to someone passing away with little or no living relatives, or passing without a will or in a few cases I know of the estate gets wrapped up in probate for years due to family disputes. It doesn't take too long for an uninhabited structure to decay, especially if all utilities are turned off.

That porch must have been a popular place on a steamy, North Carolina summer night! Plenty of stories being told, a lot laughter, memories being etched in kids minds, cold glasses of lemonade, and shy first kisses too! What a showplace it must have been, that staircase and some furniture could/ still be saved! Thanks Kappy, as always great!

This place was incredible! The owner of this place should piece it out for parts for other old places. And, if it was me, I'd be selling off all the old furniture and then respectfully tear it down. I was thinking that it was a great place to renovate till I saw the upstairs. Nope. Glad you got this place on film. It's now the only thing left this old house. Thanks for taking me along with you!

That's unique with the rounded front end of the house. I've never really seen that before. It looks like this house may only have a few years before some parts totally collapse. It's a shame.

The architecture on this house is really beautiful. I love the curve and the second floor really different. The stairway with banisters are unique with great details in woodwork. I still think this house could be saved with a little bit of work and some money. Very cool video Kappy.

I think the calendar in the kitchen probably says when they left. The place was still decorated---and nicely, too---from Christmas, so I think the page of that calendar was opened to January and hung up in preparation for the New Year.

That rounded front tower-like part was unusual and pretty. The staircase too was so pretty. I always get nervous when I see pet stuff in an abandoned house. This one had a lot of litter boxes and a big bag of cat food left behind. I hope the cats weren’t abandoned too 🙁

What a beautifull house. It must have been a lovely house to live in it's day. The nicely carved mantelpiece, and stained glass. Also the stairs are carved very nicey. The house seemed to be trashed. What a pity to let this beautifull house to ruin, when it could have been sold, or rented. Love these old houses because they have character, feelings, emotions of the past.💗💗💗💗

The floor plan of the upstairs has been radically changed; it's impossible to imagine how it was when the house was built. There may well have been a servant's staircase to the kitchen that was done away with. It's pretty much a pest hole at this point and will likely be demolished. Sad ending for such a once beautiful home.

Once the roof goes the rest is not far behind. I'm guessing tree damage since it seemed to be localized to one area. Might be too expensive to repair now, but there's a huge amount of salvage that could be done.
