Hi Matt, nice review that helped made my choice for this i20 about 6 months ago :) however, here in France we have slightly different caracs for the high-level: no heated seats (shame), dual-clutch automatic gearbox with 7 speeds (very cool, and gives a level 2 autonomous driving), two-tone paint (black on the roof) and the car is fitted with 17" Hankook Ventus Prime 3 tires (less noise tan Michelin, and grips a bit better on the dry). This lad isn't even hiding the fact that Volkswagen is paying him. Says the Skoda has the biggest boot (330l) while the Hyundai has 352 litres ? Last week he was saying the Hyundai Tucson copies from other manufacturers... By having 4 doors and 4 wheels.....
Taxes+better safety equipment. Even Hyundai also does the stupid cost cutting maruthi is infamous for. Although it is locally made which makes the car slightly cheaper.
The last time an i20 looked good was the white one in the background @7:59. Seems like the desinger randomly melted the rear end and fixed the design as it was melting half way through
A lot of these "features" are so very similar to VW's way of designing, it's uncanny. Overall I think the R&D is becoming that good that not too many people will actually NEED anything much larger than a small car.
It also comes with an IMT or a 6speed auto DCT, or 7speed auto CVT. I hope they give manual on the N-Line too, or give pedal shifters, cause the non N-Line I20 automatics doesn't get pedal shifters on their automatics.
No, he just means it is as good as his 911, but the 911 is far better, and nothing is similar with his 911. He just wants to make it sound interesting.
6:45 "(...) if you're buying an i20, you're not that vain (...)" ...ouch. When I was searching for a new car, being a young man, this review threw me off from this car a little bit. But I'm glad I still went ahead and decided to give it a test drive. I feel as if this whole review is staged. Especially when he's on the highway and acting as if the car doesn't have enough oomph to pull away. It is a lie; it does have more than enough oomph. I'm not too sure why Matt hated on this so much, I tried out this, the Polo and the Fiesta and I can safely say that the i20 was the best looking, most comfortable and almost as fun to drive as the Fiesta.
You are right about the test drive. Just watching the reviews alone had convinced me that I would definitely needed the turbo variant with 120 hp. But my local dealer only had the 1.2 MPI version with 84hp as demo car. So I gave it a shot and was blown away by how smooth and quite the 4 cylinder engine was and it did have enough power for my driving style on the motorway. I usually don't drive aggressively and I enjoy hypermiling. Of course I enjoy occasional hard accelerations when joining the motorway as well and for that purpose the power and torque felt enough for me. The car is definitely slower and has less pulling power than my old diesel volvo c30 with 110hp and 240 NM of torque. But, the engine is whisper quiete, which i like, without the noise and vibration and added complexity and cost of the 3 cylinder mild hybrid varient. So, i ended up buying the 1.2 variant. I couldn't be happier.

Personally, I think the traditional design with switches, dials and knobs looks far better, is easier to use and safer when on the move.
Everytime Mat talks goods about it, he looks like he's about to have a stroke!
We have to accept this for wat it is, at the price the spec it's pretty good, great warranty and safety kit etc, The colour is hardly boring, u loved it on the Golf R, although I have to say this review is not so bias. It might be time to be more fair on the budget brands and what they bring to the table. Sadly not everyone wants or can afford 25k and above.
i think a guy that drives a prosche is the wrong guy to do car reviews
From a distance it looks like a Seat Leon. Greetings from Bulgaria!
Nice try from getting some reputation back after Tucson review 😂
Dad bought one of these today! It'll come in July 😊
If you ask Indian reviewers about the dash quality, they'd say it is luxurious.
Depends on who you are asking. Someone below poverty line or Mukesh Ambani. India is a diverse country my man and not a country like Denmark where you can generalise 😂😂
Yeah jo... for us it is upmarket... cus we've never had a hatch loaded with features like this one... the VW polo in our country has been the same since its launch ..... the only other car it can be compared with is altroz from tata... its an Indian automobile manufacturer.....
Things are different in India. Due to high import tax. Some of the best cars cost too much. What will be his opinion about Fortuner legendar which costs over $60000 in India.
It looks a bit cheapy for it's price.(Even an I20 owner is telling you the truth about the I20.😔).
YEA thanks you my guy. Been waiting for ages for this.
10:36 that wasn't an X6; that was a 2 Grand Tourer
Mat did you forget to turn on air recirculation because smoke doesn't enter the cabin when its on in any car actually
I would rather have the new Dacia Sandero.
When is the review coming Mat?
@I WANT ŞĘX !!! SEE MY VÌDEÓ why is a sex bot on a car review😳
@@jake8793 it is literally in every sub-comment.
Dacia? Hahahaha
😡🤬

BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer drives by, Mat: blast by an BMW X6 😅😂👍🏻
For once he mentions tyre noise.
How many really noisy German cars has he tested and never even mentioned the din from the tyres?
All a bit obvious.
Generaly they have much better insolation
@@BrateTebra123 German cars?
You are joking.
@@loosabway3400 yes they do
Yes.
They have better noise insulation than a WWII tank, maybe
@@loosabway3400 yes they do. My Polo has insulation on the hood and one thing that surprised me foamy insulation in the A pilars !!! Many cars from C segment don't pay so much insulation not again B(Polo) segment. Isnulation in the pillars helps with wind noise and to put such an insulation on a city car that would almost never see open road driving says a lot about the dedication of german engineers to mute noice
Carbuyer's review of this car is much much better.
These new Hyundai's are starting to look like Audi's TBH.
Audi but if they were asian; sharp edges just like audi, except audi tends to use more.. "parallel" lines and it's just more typically European.. that makes sense?
totally see what you mean tho. good observation
In Brazil, I’ve got the impression that this i20 could perfectly face VW Polo, Peugeot 208, and GM Onix... But Hyundai chose to keep selling the “fish-car” HB20! 😑
unfortunately, here in Paraguay they sell that HB20, and it doesn't even have a Smart Key ... Try importing the i20, but it will cost me approximately $ 30,000, the Tecno version...
In India, it is one of the premium cars and it hurts when you say 'a small car'😂.
The pain of being born in a poor country.
True. It is quite an aspirational car for the middle class here 🤣
It is not a luxurious car even in India. It is an upper level hatchback. It is a really ordinary car that won't make your neighbours jealous.
Matt im watching only you, cos you switch off my brain with your jokes and positive attitude, love to relaxing on your vids! Cheers!
Love the M4 folding mirrors
This lad isn't even hiding the fact that Volkswagen is paying him. Says the Skoda has the biggest boot (330l) while the Hyundai has 352 litres ? Last week he was saying the Hyundai Tucson copies from other manufacturers... By having 4 doors and 4 wheels.....
The fully loaded top variant of this car is available at 13649 in India. That's the on-road price. I'm shocked that it's 23000 pounds in the UK. 😲
Taxes+better safety equipment. Even Hyundai also does the stupid cost cutting maruthi is infamous for. Although it is locally made which makes the car slightly cheaper.
£18.5k!!!!! I remember when a polo was sub £12k and I’m 18. It’s crazy how much more expensive cars have gotten within the last decade
Matt do a review on Tata Altroz. You will be blown away😀
The last time an i20 looked good was the white one in the background @7:59.
Seems like the desinger randomly melted the rear end and fixed the design as it was melting half way through
That rear end...😱😱
Watching Mat from Nairobi, give me likes for the first the time
The amount of times Mat says in every video ‘Click on the pop-up banner’ is sometimes rediculous! 😂
Definitely buying this car. Thank you for this review.
A lot of these "features" are so very similar to VW's way of designing, it's uncanny. Overall I think the R&D is becoming that good that not too many people will actually NEED anything much larger than a small car.
Handbrake and manual! I just love this car immediately.
It also comes with an IMT or a 6speed auto DCT, or 7speed auto CVT. I hope they give manual on the N-Line too, or give pedal shifters, cause the non N-Line I20 automatics doesn't get pedal shifters on their automatics.
Totally agree with the handbrake comment, electric handbrakes a pain. I've an Infinti q30, electric handbrake under the dash... Why?!
It has the same tyres as your 911
wOW sO SimILaR!!
No, he just means it is as good as his 911, but the 911 is far better, and nothing is similar with his 911. He just wants to make it sound interesting.
@@johndavidson3424 I believe the technical term is "Clickbait".
Am just waiting on an i20 being delivered thanks fir the review helped me a lot
"Only one 1 litre engine". "You'll be able to get a 1.6 N version too"
He's obviously referring to the non performance models. Come on. 🤦🏽♂️

"(...) if you're buying an i20, you're not that vain (...)" ...ouch.
Just watching the reviews alone had convinced me that I would definitely needed the turbo variant with 120
hp.
