@@Flippyfloppy007Rhogas fans get really excited around burly guys
I'm not into the idea of Pioneer Horizons becoming a thing but maybe having some decent green ramp like this could be a way to facilitate the banning of Nykthos in that format
God damn I love this man
Must be trolling us
Maybe im overestimating how powerful a necropotence type card can be even with a hand size limit of 5 but there is no way necrodominance is not some sort of broken
Even with a hand limit of 5 you're still picking the best 5 cards out of your top 10-15 cards
the fact its end step you get it instead of discard step gives you a timing window to cast march to get rid of extra cards to cycle back into life in your end step, which is a card that you already see in your necro decks to refuel, it being essentially free because you can use it pre discard for the extra cards you got to filter is an absurd upgrade in its usability for the decks that already use it, plus aforementioned sheoldred interactions.
@@zackestin1368 NecroP has also been errata'd to say at the beginning of your End Step. I don't think the Discard Phase per se even exists anymore, it's part of the Cleanup Step.
itll be p neat in death shadow lists for sure but necro might be p dangerous to run out if your opponent has a kavu and a nacatl on board and could theoretically have bolt or flames in hand. also fetch shocks already get your life total so low. i think itll be good, i doubt broken. Remember this is the same format w/ the one ring which is arguably the best card draw in all of magic beyond like. ancestral recall.
It would be broken if every deck wasn’t playing 4 orcish bowmasters lol
Seth's disdain for devoid is always funny 😂
I dont get why he hate devoid so much
@@andrewbedwell8186 because it's a badly designed mechanic that is either useless or broken depending on the situation...
It's also a flavor before mechanics type of ability but it also doesn't even fully work in terms of flavor either. It's supposed to represent the alien nature of Eldrazi with them being colorless nonartifact creatures, but lesser eldrazi can have color as seen when they first were printed.
At least it sort of matters now with colorless matters stuff
Haha, yeah, he always says it like his mother told him before he filmed the video "Make sure you don't forget to mention that Devoid cards are colorless Seth!" XD.
Birthing Ritual isn't scuffed Birthing Pod. Its a sidegraded Survival of the Fittest for maverick decks.
Birthing Ritual can get lower/same cost creatures, so if you play a bunch of cheap 2-3 cost hate bears, you can just dig 7 deep every turn and grab the perfect answer to whatever nonsense the opponent is trying to do.
Assuming your "perfect answer" is in those 7 cards at all or it just basically does stone nothing. If years of playing CoCo has taught players anything, its that "top 7" misses VERY often.
@@Mirvana I mean, if you look at your top 7 and don't find a single creature in your 32 creature deck, you might as well concede.
@@metalhev3989 True. It's like playing an Elf deck and not finding an Elf in the next 7 draws xD. Just scope.
Nadu's ability even puts the lands in play untapped... that's a Thassa combo card
I don't think it was brought up, but Nadu doesn't even count as drawing the cards. So doesn't trigger Bowmasters or Sheoldred which seems even more obnoxious
The chockehold that Bowmasters has on all formats it is legal in is INSANE.
Yeah, it's extremely stupid how wotc would rather print 2 toughness creatures rather than ban bowmasters
The only reason the card is so frustrating to is because it makes 1 toughness creatures unplayable
But for some reason they REFUSE to ban it
@@travisbrown9936except ragavan
Should be banned in all formats. It is a design mistake. Which happens. But they need to admit it and pull the trigger
Wow, that new Necropotence combo is a one card combo with Sheoldred as a commander, that's extremely strong
yeah i was thinking abt it as cedh but the problem is sheoldred kinda does nothing w/o the combo and mono black is highly restrictive. like the only mono black commander that sees consistent play is krrik, and they just let you not pay mana. when you could just play kennan as a one card combo, sheoldreds a tough sell
@RedPandaStan I think it will be a playable cEDH deck, but I was referring to any power level below cEDH. Sheoldred is a very powerful effect to have in the command zone and combos with almost any black draw spell ever printed, so you're playing a very strong mono black commander anyways.
Turn 2 play Fanatic of Rhonas.
Turn 3, play Topiary Stomper.
Turn 4, have 9 mana
Not to mention having 4 extra mana on turn 3
T3: topiary x2 + 1 mana card
t4: have 10 mana and 8 power of beaters swinging in
"Maybe the best two-mana mana dork we have ever seen"
Priest of Titania: Am I a joke to you?
Just had to check if someone said it already. That said both of them are buildarounds in a way and fanatic IS more likely to survive a turn, while priest has a higher cieling.
orcish bowmaster nods. "Yes, yes you are."
I mean yeah, in specifically one deck PoT is better by far, as long as you aren’t up against anyone with one of the most used cards at this point in Bowmasters. I don’t think being perfect in one specific deck makes a card better than something that’s very good in a lot of decks. Still a build-around, but actual flexibility is useful, and not dying to Bowmasters is basically the only thing that allows a mana dork to have value at this point
If we manage to get a spoiler video where Seth doesn’t mention Orcish Bowmasters it will be a miracle.
My guess is Birthing Ritual plays better as slow and grindy CoCo rather than unreliable Birthing Pod. Looking at the top seven really isn't appealing for a toolbox/combo approach. You need it to generate value every turn and function in a similar way to CoCo powering out "enters the battlefield" creatures in a deck that would want those creatures even if it didin't have Birthing Ritual.
Crabomination calls for salvage titan
Turn 1 thoughtseize turn 2 salvage into crabomination
Salvage titan crabomination blink effects
Splash white, Teleportation Portal. Free exile and casting!!!!
Nadu seems the sequel to Uro. Lower floor, but massively higher ceiling.
The lands not entering the battlefield tapped from Nadu's ability is the purest example of simic privilege I've ever seen.
Sometimes late at night I get into my bathtub and I think of Seth's beard.
I need an adult.
Sounds gay but I’m a big fan of that so 🤷🏻♀️
I don’t know what’s happening here, but it made me chuckle.
The new Necro has one other drawback, its now whenever a card goes to your graveyard from anywhere instead of just being discarded.
I want Birthing Ritual for my Henzie Commander deck. Blitzed out creatures are going away anyway, so anything in the top seven is an improvement.
Rhonas has been in the game for years now. How is he saying Rhogas? 🤣
To get you to comment about it to boost audience engagement
Fanaticorogas...its one word!
I love how he flubs Fanatic of Rhonas but flawlessly says crabomination
29:57 I like this call out. It's always nice to give Wizards their due when they do a fun, clever thing like this.
Necro is the drawspell monoblack burn was waiting for 🥲😍
Buried alive being able to fully set up your graveyard for shifting woodland seems very solid.
buried alive is also a great hit for arclight phoenix, could be something with, turn 2 ritual, manamorphose, buried alive
the mono green deck you're looking for is Vorinclex//The Grand evolution
Can we see a Crabomination scam deck where you reanimate and blink it repeatedly? That would be a hilarious video...
Do we know when we will get a full decklist for the commander decks?
Emrakul's messenger is crazy good ramp for blue decks. It's even better when paired with the new cycling eldrazi.
I don't think the grief scam with phyrexian tower works as you want it to work, because you need black mana to cast not dead after all, so you can't pull it off turn 1, but turn 2 it's great
You can still play Grief, sac it and with 2 black mana cast a thoughtsieze and a cling to dust or something but yeah Seth's example can only happen on t2+.
I am going to run Birthing Ritual in my Miryym deck. It goes well with the decks theme of using Lifeline
Seth about almost every card: “where this really shines is commander”.
Birthing ritual: happens every round, no tap requirement, no mana cost, just value town. One and two mana combo pieces (looking at you devoted druid) plus recruiter of the guard!! haste effects… plus hate bears, etb triggers and the new bird wizard…. Very good card.
with crabomination around, scheming symmetry might be that much more decent now. haha
Birthing Ritual is perfect for my Izoni 54 Creature deck. I will always hit something and fill my grave at the same time. Am hyped :)
I’d use Birthing ritual in my Bant enchantress prison. It’s got tons of cheap creatures to use, and ways to just make tokens. I normally can eventually disallow all of my opponents having creatures, so I then just win by attrition.
I think birthing ritual is much better than it looks. It's just not a "combo card", but a value card.
Value pod died for the sins of combo pod, I'm happy to see an option now at least
The ability to recur the white tax/ramp spell in commander is going to be really nasty. Awesome Sun Titan target.
Charitable levy looks like a fixed rhystic study. Theres no annoying do you pay the one it’s just static 1 extra and the pay off is toned down but still worth running. I will be trying this out.
Birthing Ritual seems like a somewhat upgraded Enigmatic Incarnation. Birthing Ritual doesn't tutor, but you can fill your deck only with creatures, while Enigmatic Incantation needed creatures and enchantments.
Yes, it's a value generating card, an not a combo piece, but it has the potential to generate *a lot* of value.
It's important to note, you choose the creature you're going to sac only after reveling the cards, so it's going to be particularly effective if you have different mana cost creatures on field.
Indeed, not going to break modern, but seems like a fun card.
Definitly gonna pick up fanatic of rohnas, eternalize and embalm are among my favorite mechanics so i at least try any halfway decent creature with it.
30:12 Seth, amped raptor can play aether revolt on turn 2 very consistently with now 2, 1 drops providing 2 or more energy on turn 1(tune the narrative & galvanic discharge). Plus we also have to consider aether hub as well. I think the card could be very competitive, if built around properly for that reason.
Only if you get it randomly off the top.
With Nadu you could even blink your creatures and if you have the mana, repeat the process all over again.
Don't you just need to blink Nadu, because then it resets for all creatures ?
@@malte54 No unfortunately it won't reset the other creature's state.
@@retrovideo2124
That's sad. Or good. Can't tell :D
@@retrovideo2124it will reset all the creatures since it gives them a completely separate instance of the ability.
Need to see a Temur Much Abrew deck with Nadu and Zada!
Fanatic of Rogis sounds like Scooby Doo saying Fanatic of Rhonas
I'm excited for Buried Alive as a revival to the mardu/jund Phoenix decks!
Rakdos affinity! We need to try it
So with the necro and reli tower, is it the same with the new blue blood moon? so if they play the merfolk and make all non basics islands THEN i play blood moon, all non basics are mountains?
if thats true, im assuming the same is true vice versa?
its just a matter what hits the battlefield first?
yes, its been an interaction for forever with cards like the all land types leylines and prismatic omen etc, and why people that said leyline of guildpact ruins blood moon were absolutely not correct.
Necrodominance plus: Spellbook, 4 Requilary Towers, 4 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, 2-4 copies of Sheoldred, March of Sorrow, 2 Cabal Coffers... XD, will beeee nice...
I play a Modern, value-engine, 60-card Enigmatic Invocation deck that is all about sac'ing 2mv enchantments to get 3mv value creatures. In that deck, Renegade Rallier is bonkers. So Birthing Ritual might slot into that deck just fine. Sac a 2mv creature to look for a Rallier and get that creature back with the Rallier's trigger. Then when EI hits, the Birthing Ritual can be sac'd as well. So I could see a copy or two finding a home in my deck.
While zero equipments are gread with Nadu, he can go crazy with landfall alone. Add return to kazandu or return to coralhelm to scub swarm package, and not only you get extra bodies, but you also get ability to target it from landfall to trigger more landfalls.
Not limiting it to opponent spells, or keeping ability on Nadu alone was huge mistake, and limiting it to 2 per creature do basically nothing.
are you factoring in that charitable levy affects you? I don't think you mentioned that.
Agree about Birthing Ritual. If they wanted to make it playable it should've been "G, T: Look at the top seven cards... Only activate this ability up to three times and only on your turn"
Nadi, Ivy, and Rotproest seems fun
Birthing ritual is not a combo card, its a value card. You fill your deck with 1, 2, or 3 drop creatures that create tokens or have etb effect. Idk how good the deck will be but im excited to brew with it
I wish that Buried Alive makes Necrotic Ooze combo a thing!
Biggest downside to Necro is the fact that you exile anything you discard and you can't fill your graveyard which black decks really want to do.
Phyrexian is is in my muxus deck, helps all the time
Richard needs to play Nadu on Commander Clash
Birthing Ritual goes into my Henzie EDH deck 🎉
Is Kroxa in Necrodominance's art ?
Necrodominance probably just needs a instant speed sac outlet
18:39 new Temur Wizards coming in historic?
Nadu + Symmetry Mage sounds absolutely broken
Yes, right after equipping for 0 or using triggered abilities like Heliod's +1/+1, Symmetry Sage is probably the best option. Especially if you consider that they're both wizards and that magecraft cares about copied spells. There's also the new 1 drop in green (still Wizard) that sacrifices lands to give shroud - another top tier enabler since Nadu finds untapped lands anyway and you have plenty of shots to find them.
Simic wizards may finally become a playable deck in Arena for the first time since Strixhaven, it even has access to a creature-planeswalker (Tamiyo). I really really hope Nadu won't be banned because he might enable the entire archetype on his own.
I REALLY hope we get Cavern Harpy as a reprint in MH3! That would really compleat(eh?!) the Aluren combo.
OH, BY THE WAY, Buried Alive is really hilarious with Arclight Phoenix. :D
Desperate ritual>manamorphose>Buried Alive = 9 power t2. :D
Nadu will be amazing with Zada.
Necrodominance also brings 3 black mana to your devotion
With Recruiter, Primal Prayers, and Evengel, I'm already brewing Bant Poison in Timeless
hello friends, i am super confused what formats on arena will we be able to play modern horizons 3? i dont want to prerecord on arena if i cant play in at least alchemy
Brawl, historic and timeless, though some cards will undoubtedly be pre-banned in historic and potentially brawl
I love how Seth's daily spoilers are always for the day.
MTGGoldfish, I loved this video so much, I had to hit the like button!
Re: Orcish Bowmasters against Necrodominance, your opponent has to flash it in in response to the end step trigger, before you’ve decided how many cards to draw. So Bowmasters doesn’t fully hose Necrodominance
Regarding Phyrexian Tower... I didn't get to play this thing the first time around back in the 90s, but I did hear stories about it. Now that it's on Arena, I've used it in my version of your Against the Odds Necro deck in Timeless. And wow, it is effective.
I mean it's slower than Dark Ritual and that decks runs 4 copies of it already.
@@JulioDRai I run both Ritual and Tower, like Saffron Olive did. If you haven't tried the deck, you should. It's a blast to play.
Crabomination + phyrexian tower is a cute combo in 8-cast. Probably not good, but funny.
Against The Odds: Necrodominance + Phyrexian Unlife + Axis of Mortality (+ maybe an "end the turn" card?
Keep in mind that end the turn cards still make you go through the cleanup step, so you will still need to pitch to hand size
If they print Veteran Explorer into modern that could be nuts. I don't think they will because with the green flare would be scary.
Sounds like birthing ritual is going to be an Against the Odds episode.
Aether Revolt is real good with Lava Dart too
Question of the set...Rhogas, Rhogis, or Rogis? Or, gasp, Rogas?
Shouldn't Nadu say up to twice each turn? Strange that they chose to word it the way they did. The way I read it it seems to ONLY trigger twice and doesn't trigger once. So, like you'd target it once it wouldn't trigger. Then when you target it the second time in the turn it would trigger?
Man Natu has such insane memory issues, alongside being so broken, that I wonder if they meant to keep the “twice each turn” bit outside the quotation marks so that it only triggered twice a turn, period.
Well outside of the quotes would be worse since it's a passive effect that never triggers, so each creature would trigger without limit. But nowadays I would not be surprised if someone at WotC wrongly thought they were designing a card that works as you suggest
@@_shogun Ah, yeah, good point, I didn’t catch that. “Creatures you control have [ability]” is a static effect, not a triggered ability, so “This ability triggers only twice each turn” would be meaningless outside the quotes.
Yeah. Also, why isn't the land tapped?
Nadu also put the lands into play untapped
Charitable Levy's timestamp is a little off (should be 31:41)
One Ring got me thinking...are there any "self restricting" cards in Magic? I know we got the "any number of" cards and I know there's a Companion that makes you run singleton but are there any cards that say "you may only have one copy of this card in your deck"?
Seems like it would be a good errata for One RIng...
7 dwarves and Nazgul both technically self restrict themselves to only 7 and 9 copies in limited (where normally you can play as many as you open), but I don't think there are any that restrict themselves to less than 4 copies in deck.
27:16 they said the name of the movie in the movie
You're wrong about Crabomination. BECAUSE it has ETB is bc blink and reanimation make it near broken. I think you meant cast.
You know how cards have nicknames? Like sakura tribe elder is steve? Can we please call fanatic of rhonas Joe Rogus
Tell us Seth, which card from the set is truelly the best card!... 😜
Can't wait for top 10 vid.
I'll play nadu on my tatyova deck for sure
It's even better than tatyova in basically same deck.
"It's not a big deal to sac a creature for a lot of decks".
I take issue with the "a lot of decks" part.
Most decks wouldn't play Phyrexian Tower.
Fanatic of Rhonas + Monsterous Rage = -R +GGGG. Can be thought of as a ritual.
Correct me if I am wrong, but Necrosominance along with a sheoldred should be an instant win most of the times wouldnt it?
You do get to draw quite a bit and double your life total, but you still will need to discard down to 5 after. Also, watch out for a lightning bolt in response to the life gain triggers. Regardless, it definitely negates the cost and I'm sure you can do some cool things if you have some way to utilize them at instant speed.
Sickening dreams is a sorcery and not in modern. Skirge Familiar was in MH2 but is 5 mana. You do have Feast of Sanity which should still work even with the replacement effect since you discard then into exile, but still discard them. Still 4 mana, but could be fun.
Queza actually does cool things with it as a 2 card combo that lets you drain them for your life total - 1 while drawing as many cards.
Remember layering. Reliquer tower, somehow, is legal in modern. So, you play necro first, then play reliquery tower. Reliquery tower coming in second overrides necro.
Fanatic of Rhonas is the easiest way to hard cast leyline of the guildpact if you dont open the game with it in your hand
Why does necrodominance say "if a card or token goes to the graveyard exile it instead" what tokens actually stay in the yard? Don't tokens hit the yard and disappear no matter what?
It's worded that way so that tokens won't trigger off of "to the graveyard" effects as they never hit the graveyard. Normally tokens do go to the graveyard then immediately dissapear. In those situations they do trigger those graveyard effects. This card prevents them from going to the graveyard at all.
You should play some skelementals Argo in modern
I still think Victimize is going is a sleeper. Black seems to be getting supercharged in this set.
Aether Revolt + Crack Fetch + Galvanic Discharge = 5 Damage to a Creature or Planeswalker and 5 Damage to any target. That's an insane rate.
It's a bit slower, but Aether Revolt + Primal Prayers + Greenbelt Rampager = Unlimited Lightning Bolt until dead.
Birthing ritual is nuts in some decks lets say you have lots of mana dorks, you can sack them for better 2 mana creatures, or you have a bunch of etb cards, sac one turn it into another
you dont grief scam + get 2 mana t1 from phyrexian tower. there is no black mana for playing the scam effect
Nadu gonna go ham in a ivy spellthief deck
If the one ring is good, i imagine so is necrodominance
Welp definatly making a nadu commander deck. The half dozen landfall cards that make tokens, half dozen equipment that can all equip for free one way or another and 80ish lands… even if you have to keep muliganing down to 1 until you get at least one of the two and just spam land for turn it should pop off….
Or even some of the equipment with 1 equip cost since it doesnt say the land comes in tapped… Ah god bronze cudgels is a 1 cost equip spell that could set up the land fall and be a pay off to just pump nadu up for commander damage.
Hats off wizards. I never thought i’d do a simic voltron commander.
