I originally made a lower quality version of this music video (not the one posted here on youtube) back in the early 90's using 2 VCRs and a dual cassette boom box. I always wanted to remake a better quality version of this video after getting the "A Kind of Magic" CD by Queen and the DVD of the movie Highlander. I put it off for several years but finally made a better quality version (99% same editing cuts as the VHS version) in 2005 using the CD, DVD and a PC. Two years later I finally got around to putting it up on youtube. I hope you like it.
Oh btw, some of you "old timers" (like myself) may notice something familiar about the credits in my video. It's my "homage" to my favorite music video show from the 80's, TBS' "Night Tracks".
Just a note for those that know me another online name but might find it hard to believe me when I tell them that I made this video, I am also ARKM of ARKM Sabers.

Apparently Freddie didn't really like the song because him and John Deacon didn't like metal. Which is surprising and you genuinely can't tell, because he sings the shit out of it. But to be honest, that just makes me respect him even more. Never a guy to phone it in.

Clancy Brown is so underappreciated. He was genuinely creepy as The Kurgan. I heard on a Highlander documentary that he did his character so well that even the film crew were afraid of him!!

Clancy Brown rocks! He was amazing in Starship Troopers - so much character and charisma. One of those screen actors who immediately grabs your attention no matter the role. He was scary as hell when I saw Highlander when I was about 9 or 10!
Highlander was a great film not just because of The acting and storyline, but that the Greatest rock band in the world was the soundtrack
Greatness is defined by album sales. And they have sold 300 million albums and 100 million singles as per Brian May saying it on a Breakfast TV show back in January 2009 !

Queen was metal. there is no doubt about it. songs like Stone Cold Crazy, Gimme The Prize, and The Hitman are just a few of the songs that fall under the category of metal.
In my opinion, "Gimme the prize" is the most slept on Queen song. It's basically classic metal. I LOVE hearing Freddie Belt it out like that! What a band! 💪😎👍 #QUEENFOREVER

I've kept track of him... not the best career but he does well. Great voice. Loved that moment in Starship Troopers.

Clancy has shrunken down. He's currently 6'2" since he has gotten a little older (that happens), so it wouldn't be hard to find another tall actor to fill in. Hollywood is filled with either really short people and really tall people. They always go to an extreme to produce more effect with the characters.
Clancy Browns 'Kurgan' - quite simply the best most chilling 'villain' ever. Not bullets, stabbing, drowning or electrocution could kill him, just beheading by the sword of another immortal....."there can be only one !"

I have lost count how many times I've seen this movie and the soundtrack for me is probably the best soundtrack ever, every song has its place in the film and its timeless.

This is the proof that these guys could beat any and everyone at their own game. The savage vocals, the guitar lines, the heavy drums... Jesus Christ, it's so damn epic. Too bad John Deacon hated this stuff. I love it!
I feel so sorry for what has become of John Deacon. He totally nails the bass. But now he seems to be a sad, bitter or angry man. Too bad we'll never see him again on stage witj or without Queen :(

Biggest vocal power display ever. Must have been deafening to stand next to Freddie during the record. And yet, only saturation in the voice, no distorsion. So many metal singers are put to shame by a fairy. (Of course, no negative meaning, just find the comparison funnier if put that way :D).

I dunno, man. I don't deny that Clancy Brown was perfect for the role of The Kurgan, but I heard a rumour that Dave Bautista, AKA Drax The Destroyer in Guardians Of The Galaxy, will be The Kurgan in a Highlander reboot set to come out in the next few years.
I'm not saying that Bautista will be better than Brown in the role, coz no-one can beat the original; I'm just saying that Bautista will be seriously bad-ass as The Kurgan, if the people behind the film can do any justice to the original. So, a day of cinematic reckoning is approaching: in the red corner, Drax! In the blue corner, Mr. Krabs!!! There can be only one!!!!!
Atraxus Wraithe True, it all depends on what the people behind the film do with it, how well they write it, what actors they pick, etc. Still, I'm not one to be too big on remakes in general. I feel remakes or re-imaginings (whatever term you like) should only be reserved for those films that could be perfected in a big way and "Highlander" is already a great film. However, as reluctant as I am about the project I must confess I'm still curious what they'll do with the story and all. Wait and see, right?

Honestly, my head-canon goes as follows: the original film, the series (which features reimagined flashbacks to the only good moment in the terrible sequels where he forges a new sword), and ending with Endgame. This makes me pretty forgiving compared to many die-hard fans.

I remember this track from the "A Kind Of Magic" Album, which is widely regarded as Queen's best album of the 1980's (I agree) very obscure track though. Regarded as a very heavy track for Queen especially, since it borderlines Heavy Metal in some ways. Brian May wrote this song, and stated in an interview that "Boath Mercury and Deacon hated this song"

@@elliotspencer5300 Since when is John Deacon gay? lol. He just wasn't into really heavy rock. Freddie I heard had the son grow on him over time. No way he didn't like metal/heavy rock as that was almost exclusively what he composed in the beginning of his career.

They better not screw up the new ones if they ever make them. Queen needs to be there. Can they please make a good movie with the original peeps, Conner, Kurgan, Juan. The series guys don't have to be the main story line, just be in there, and, they can't die btw movie writers!! lol (especially Methos, too smart, clever, sneaky. This is PERFECT. And you should hear Clancy laugh in real life....sends shivers down your spine. You keep expecting him to draw a sword from under his suit or something.

If ever a band of musicians were BORN to make a song like this work so spectacularly well, then it was Queen (all of 'em). And if any singer was ever BORN to carry off those lyrics with such (demented) conviction, it was Freddie Mercury : who else could've done it, I ask you ? ... . I guess most people know Queen cos of the massive pop-py hits they had (impressive list, eh ?), esp in the '80's - and mebbe that Live Aid thing. But, behind it all, Queen could ROCK good'n'hard with the best of 'em - 'BETTER than' in most cases (don't believe me ? Check out the 'LIVE - Killers' album). I'd put 'Gimme T' Prize' in amongst my Top-5-Queen-Songs-Of-All-Time-List any day of the week (not that anyone's bothered, you understand, but I just like saying it ... in writing ... which is kinda 'quiet', I suppose). I love the video that's been posted with this as well - top notch job, Old Bean : toodle-pip (until 'the next time').

Oneof the most haunting and beautiful films ever, with one of the most horrible string of horrible, cheap sequels ever. It got worse and worse. After an unbelievably crappy beyond belief Highlander 2 came the 3 and when tickets failed to sell cause nobody wanted that crap anymore they started with a b-rated tv serial which was noway close to the original but just barely ok. Then it got even worse by the politically correct immortal woman. It lasted one season and then it ended there. I bet the writers regretted that cause they might have tried to take it a step further down. They just LOVE to take a great story and destroy it in the most unglorious way possible .
While the tv series wasn't as great, it at least had enough good/big ideas for it to not entirely suck. Endgame wasn't the greatest either but still had potential. The other sequels absolutely did suck and they did so hard. There was plenty going for prequels and sequels, the decent ones just didn't get properly executed.
I can't believe they didn't like this track. This song IS The Kurgan's mind.

The Kurgan is one of the best villains of all time. Not just because of Clancy Brown chewing the scenery and crapping awesome, although there is that. But of how "realistically" awful and evil he is as someone who lets immortality go to his head, pun unintended. Macleod lnows the pain of immortality but it keeps him human. The Kurgan revels in the fun of living without consequences and it makes him a monster.
Clancy brown what an awesome actor......an this is an awesome movie....Christopher lambert, sean connery.....they all did a great job!! An so did you sir, thanx!!!!
This is when an amazing villain, played by a great actor is accompanied by a timeless track by the divine Freddie Mercury. Pure satisfaction.
Props to Fred's vocals. But. No Brian May. No song. He wrote it, & shred on that guitar. As well as using said guitar to simulate bagpipes!
