Joachim Fischer & Christinna Pedersen (DEN) beat Tontowi Ahmad & Liliyana Natsir (INA) 21-12, 21-12.
Badminton made its debut as a demonstration sport at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. It was not until the 1992 Games in Barcelona that it was officially included on the Olympic programme, with men's and women's singles and doubles events. The mixed doubles event made its debut in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympic Games. Since then, the number of events has remained unchanged.

Malaysians don't even need to feel her pain. Malaysians had already felt so much pain, such as thomas cup 2014, LCW in 2011-2015 , and also Malaysia nearly monopolized the MD final in bwf world championships 2009, 1996 Olympics MD final as well.
I mean in 1996 MD final, Malaysia lost just 2 points in second set
even me malaysian feel shame for my country players, enter the finals for so many times, sudirman cup, all england, thomas, olympic, not one they can get champion for my country.
