You can tell that the old boy operating that thing got himself in a little pickle,,, Seeing what was left after a brand new rebuilt D9 in 1991 was cutting A Terrace and it gave out,,, that Cat roll six times it went thru all nine lives the first three rolls,,,, the operator bailed out right at the last second... glad you guys could save her you're doing an outstanding job on her beautiful video.
I know the guy who left it there, Eric Smith. He went bush in the Ahu Ahu Ohu when he lost most of his money after he sold his house, in an investment recommended by his lawyer. in the 87 crash. Access was difficult across the Wanganui river so he decided to upgrade the track through the hills. Last I heard he'd moved to Urenui, but I expect that his daughter still lives over that way - she was married to a sheep farmer and was a possum hunter. Eric was a generous bloke and was a faith healer using body manipulation. Phew he was brutal but after he finished healing me one day - I was about 36, and came out like a 21 year old. Good on you Eric, and Finn I expect he will be proud of you for rescuing it! I'm sure if you found his daughter she would love to hear the tale.
I thought the music was fine but yes the guy does need to give the pair of shorts back to his wife. I love to see old equipment brought back to life. Good video.

I like to see old diesels being started and used again, just goes to show how reliable these old diesel's can be.Cummins are known to never stop, just wish the big three truck brand would do some experimenting with a CAT diesel in there trucks, how allsum would it be to have a 25 or 3500 Chevy with a CAT option for a diesel.I know in the next year or so chevorlet is gonna offer a inline 3.0 Diesel that gonna be a Chevorlet made diesel, not a Duramax that's good news.If only the people at Dodge had of outbid Nissan we could of had a Cummins in the new Dodge 1500,I know its a 5.0 cummins but it would be better than the eco diesel that's offered now.I have a 3500 CTD Dodge, but IM looking seriously about buying a chevy when the 3.0 in-line 6 is avalible.
@ Cat stopped making truck engines and trucks as well because they could never satisfy the damned gov't on the pollution levels. I guess even big corps get tired of the no nothing EPA telling them what to do.
I tried recovering an abandoned excavator recently. Apparently they aren't considered abandoned because they sat at the dealership for more than a week...
so you notice a dozer off the edge of a hill. 15yrs later you show up, start it, take it and its now yours? Free. was it on private property or a public road? Please explain how you knew nothing of this to you now own it.
This is what happens when you DON'T use BIO-DEISEL in your equipment,,,they start YRS later. Never use that crap in something you want to keep for a LONG TIME.
12 or 24 volt ??? My neighbor has a 1963 Komatsu D65-p with the nh-220 Cummins that has been sitting in the field for 10 years and he asked me to get it running for him . Is it 12volt or 24volt battery hook up ???
The little yellow dozer got stuck in a bluff; along came a man with a bigger digger, all buff; he pulled and he pushed and he wrenched it about; and with the bigger digger got the yellow dozer out!
I'm sure they brought batteries and fresh fuel with them, they're experienced operators. Carried it up the hill in the excavator. Well that's what I would of done.
I'll bet that this old dozer will work better and longer than many new ones and will be 10 times cheaper in maintenance. Great job, guys!!!
Absolutely fantastic well done on the recovery and restoration of the past equipment nothing better than old machinery given new life.
Great job! I just recovered a Fiat Allis dozer that was parked. It is great to get them to fire up after years of sitting.

When I saw it puff smoke, I knew it was going to fire up. I like the fact they didn't drown it with either. Nice job!
Nice. I'm a cat guy myself. But I can say its cool to see old iron revived. Way to go komatsu. And to the guys who brought her back.
Thumbs up to the people who rescued the komatsu great job
Thank you . It took 40 hours with the digger and a few man hours very exciting times

Now that's interesting, thanks for filling in some blanks here. Luckily you came across this video.
Love it
Old iron never dies
Edward Caissie yes old equipments are better than the new....they are tougher and stronger...
I just can never believe how people leave a good running machine like that to the elements. I just can't believe it was still functional.
I thought the music was fine but yes the guy does need to give the pair of shorts back to his wife. I love to see old equipment brought back to life. Good video.
Rugby shorts bro. Only time they don't get worn is when its snowing
I have seen a few times where a bulldozer operator did some dumb things but this guy wins the prize for the dumbest move!!!!
A very skillfully executed recovery.KUDOS!
Poxy music always spoils the real sounds on videos

How about Roxy Music?

Nothing like the sound of an old diesel motor to make you smile
Shane Owen Pure music.😊
Yes sir look at those grins when that old bitch hits a lick
great video. old iron, new beginning.
Awesome recovery! Place looks like jurassic park 😎👍🦕🦖🦎
So glad you saved it instead of scraping it for $$$.

Hate to break it to you but chevy claims they make the duramax. They only needes help designing it from Isuzu
@ Cat stopped making truck engines and trucks as well because they could never satisfy the damned gov't on the pollution levels. I guess even big corps get tired of the no nothing EPA telling them what to do.
Freak yea. Could have been mine, too. Lucky find. Glad you got it.
15 yrs isn’t even a catnap for old heavy equipment
How long does diesel last? Does it ever expire or go bad?
About two years
VERY cool well done.👍
That's satisfying to watch... you ripper...🤠
15 years is nothing for a diesel to sit around and not operate as long as no water gets in from exhaust pipe
It could even stay there for forty years!
Worse cases is fuel contamination and jammed all the fuel injector
I think Parker Schnabel should buy it and put it to good use in Alaska
+Jeff Petersen wouldnt be big enough he needs a d11 or d10 not a d7 or d8
Good job fellas, a new toy to the inventory..excellent..old iron lives on .
Hello very nice video.👍👍👍
Very impressive
Kinda funny how that Volvo made a toy out of that big bad crawler.
Interesting ripper not seen that style before.
My thought too...never saw hinged ripper shanks before. Would seem to be a weak point.
@@chuckvan1568 I hope someone will have the information about that system the pluses and minuses.
Allow you to keep the ripper in the ground whilst turning somewhat.

Cool. Good restoration
Old Bulldozer from the Hoffmanns 😂😂
Great recovery to give that big ol gal a second chance at life.
Nice find great job
Haha damn that made me happy! I can’t believe it ran. And I can believe it ran and someone left it there. I need a find like this!
A big story and you leave out the most interesting part. What was done to the machine before attempting to start it?
For me the most interesting part of any abandonment of vehicles is what was it doing the very last time it was running up to the second it shut off
Nice baby komatsu.
Why are machines like this abandoned? I've seen several on yt like this....dont make sense....and was this on its owners property?
I tried recovering an abandoned excavator recently. Apparently they aren't considered abandoned because they sat at the dealership for more than a week...
Something about a dozer makes you want to just push trees over...nice save!
so you notice a dozer off the edge of a hill. 15yrs later you show up, start it, take it and its now yours? Free. was it on private property or a public road? Please explain how you knew nothing of this to you now own it.
Love it love it!!
I miss the old days when shit could sit for 15 years and start without even changing the oil/old gas.(not positive that happens in this clip.)
It deserved a second life. Good work!
I hope they changed all fluids, filters, and drained and refilled the fuel tank. And I'm sure fresh batteries were a must.
A well deserved Dulux overhaul Good Job Australia cheers
Come on guys...it didn't get going that quickly...many steps left out that would have made the video more interesting!
What song was that? Love the song. Should have been louder.
This is what happens when you DON'T use BIO-DEISEL in your equipment,,,they start YRS later. Never use that crap in something you want to keep for a LONG TIME.
Такую комаку,я ещё не видел.
Nice C.I.L. overhaul 😉
12 or 24 volt ??? My neighbor has a 1963 Komatsu D65-p with the nh-220 Cummins that has been sitting in the field for 10 years and he asked me to get it running for him . Is it 12volt or 24volt battery hook up ???
the cables or battery space should be a giveaway, but there's always looking at what the starter motor says
The little yellow dozer got stuck in a bluff;
along came a man with a bigger digger, all buff;
he pulled and he pushed and he wrenched it about;
and with the bigger digger got the yellow dozer out!
Great job, bring life back to a iron god...
That's good hooter rolling music tho. But I agree cut the music, we're here for the experience
That track how is a power house moving that dozed around like a toy
Komotsu is some tough stuff
Me encanta buen video
Jolly good job chaps!!
Hey! That's my dozer.
.love the music.....
Клёво вообще в Komatsu спасли Сколько лет он там провалялся ни хрена ещё и завёлся блин
That,s a nice found machine!
Anyone know what year this little yellow chap was / is?
Curious how things end up like that.
it roared into life
Can't believe it.... someone standing on the track while a dozer is being started.......
Yea that was me 😉
You guys are bloody kiwi legands
Nice build
Komatsu: Now their troubles begin.
Great job!!!
Well done Gentlemen.
Вольво ,либер, кат и коматцу рулят
What all did it need to get it to the point of turning over?
Took starter motor out wound engine over on flywheel with a bar to make sure it had no stuck valves. fresh diesel new batteries and Away it went
Great to see
sweet....thumbs up..!!!
Beautiful!
My question is, why was it left there in the first place. Good job well done, all involved. The background music doesn't bother me.
Exactly.
Was left there to do a recovery video.
Looks like they gave it a overhaul by the way of new paint !!!
O is that were I parked it.just another drunken night in Brisbane Australia. Can u bring it back to me
Did you need to charge the battery before you try to start it seems like the battery would have been dead after 15 years just curious thank you
I'm sure they brought batteries and fresh fuel with them, they're experienced operators. Carried it up the hill in the excavator. Well that's what I would of done.
long lives to komatsu
Everytjing now is electronic. You leave this new dozers for 15 years all you get is scrap metal.
King of the rainforest
Good onya fellas for saving this girl..they are good units..tough as
Next time try a chain!! Works wonders for lifting and pulling
Would have liked to hear the beast roar and not the music. Wonderful recovery of the old.
It's woke.
Beautiful....
That thing had been used about a month before.
Looks like he finally finished the job
The moment of truth, and we miss it due to the horrible music.
Was nice to se it walk out on its own.
Do you know what the project was that it was being used for?
Oh please look at it do you really thing that was abandoned for 15 years ? Yeah
Pipeline with that style angle blade
Moving dirt!
Great 👍
200 thousand dollar find. Wow. Someone didn't have the resources to get it unstuck.
IT'S ALIVE......ALIVE!!!!
Finn you're crazy haha, very cool
Nice legs bro :)
They didn't mention the other two weeks worth of work they had to do to get it running
