- Well, folks, the unthinkable has happened...besides vegetables being created that kids like...the UA-cam community has actually managed to OUTDO the creator's in representing one of the most legendary pieces of the hit series Veggietales..yes, this completely manmade remake of Rack Shack and Benny actually manages to outshine the original, not just with it's fiery fiery furnace but in many other aspects. But...does it perfect EVERYTHING? Here's a hint: not quite, but watch this video for more info! Don't forget to like and subscribe!

Fun fact Phil Vischer himself gave the remake his stamp of approval
Yeah, I know! So did the original film's composer Kurt Heinecke. Sweet how even the creator of Veggietales himself loved this remake.
@@vcandrewscritiquerI hope and think he and the rest of the VeggieTales cast and crew give out another stamp of approval (even if ElectricDragon505 won’t, Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie, despite being a cult classic, is the closest film AniMat got to giving it the Seal of Garbage that doesn’t deserve it, but then again, he did defend Cuties even though it has everything any rational person would think is so bad it shall be illegal like over-sexualized girls that are bullies yet we’re supposed to like her) after I work on Boyz in the Sink: A VeggieTales with them (I mean, hey, if LarryBoy can have ANOTHER movie, and of course, one that is feature length, why can’t the Boyz with new additions such as Bob the Tomato, Jerry Gourd and Archibald Asparagus, eh?)
@@kieranstark7213 Well, AniMat did later admit that he had never grown up with Veggietales...but yeah, I agree his criticisms towards Jonah weren't really fair, especially saying the songs were bad for "preaching God's word". It's.a CHRISTIAN film, what were you expecting?!
9:08 I was actually the voice of Lenny for this! My best friend Finn and I also voiced a bunch of sick groaning factory workers.
Also, the reason they used the “censored” Bunny Song was because the original was only released on VHS so it was harder to get the vocals isolated and sounding clean. Phil also just gives a better performance in the redo. Glad you enjoyed it! It was a very fun project to be involved in
Ironically, I've come to appreciate Veggietales more now as an atheist adult than when I was a Catholic kid. The show still holds up. It's not overly preachy, but is able to get across its message in a fun and entertaining way. It's sense of humour reminds me of Animaniacs or Monty Python then what you'd expect from a religious cartoon. The songs are catchy. I didn't even know that this episode was based on a bible story till you mentioned it! (Yeah, I know logically it would be, it's Veggietales, for duck's sake, but I would've never would've guessed which one in particular.) I think that a religious cartoon being able to make it an entertaining for an atheist adult is a sign of amazing writing. It's a feat that only this series and Prince of Egypt were able to pull off, sadly. (And maybe Disney's Hunchback if you really wanted to stretch the definition.)
Like I said in the video, you are far from the only atheist or agnostic whose loved this show. Phil Vischer had said once that his intent for Veggietales was to be a show that ALL people could enjoy.
18:00 the Pea Bit was originally going to feature Khalil the Caterpillar, but they went with one of the Pea Guards from Jonah instead.
I truly never knew this remake existed! I'll make sure to look this up. Have there been more VeggieTales remakes or is this the only one?
Not yet, but I hear the folks behind this remake have similar plans for "The Fib From Outer Space" and "Madame Blueberry" :)
@@vcandrewscritiquer No, those are done by different people. We [the people behind RSB] aren't making any more of these
@@321Blender Unfortunate, but glad we got this. The creativity and talent of Gourd and the team really shines!
I think both versions are very well done in their own ways, with the remake it does improve a few things from the already amazing original, but I feel like it over does things a bit and some other parts like the location changes don't make much sense, and it could've been a " less is more" sort of thing in a few areas. But it does have lots of heart and passion put into it with the animation with it having more detail to it and literally feeling like an actual episode straight from the 2000s, and it does some unique stuff that differs from the original like having more believable character reactions while working at the factory. But the original does have a lot of charm in it with its animation and the execution of the story, I can see why you prefer the remake, but it's really a 50/50 for me honestly.
Mr lunt jumpscare 8:35
Yes, but like I said in the video, him leaning into the camera really conveyed his cruelty to the workers all the more
@@vcandrewscritiquer yes also its way more funnier
Maybe you should think about doing more Veggie tales related videos.
I'm considering doing a Top 10 Veggietales episodes in future
@vcandrewscritiquer That is great to hear And would you consider doing a top worst episodes of veggietales List.
@@joshmangamer255 WEll...maybe, although I honestly don't think any Veggietales episodes are legit "bad"...some weak or boring, but it's hard to think of one that was outright bad...
@vcandrewscritiquer Actually there is a truly horrible vegetales episode and that is sweetpea Beauty That is.
Considered the absolute garbage pile of veggetails Believe me there are some truly awful episodes in the modern era.
I have a theory about the pointless vebding machine bit. I think it was originally gonna be a cameo by khalil but the model mightbe been to complicated to make or something.
That's exactly what it was supposed to be. I initially pitched the idea of having Khalil as a worker, but building a complex rig like Khalil for a 10 second gag didn't make much sense
@@321Blender i knew it. I figured that voice sound like khalils and i could totally see him humming the bunny song to himself. Thx for the confirmation
@@321Blenderps great work
Amazing
Can you please do a New vs Old on the Little engine that could
I'm afraid I don't have any plans to right now...but just for the record, the old wins. BIG TIME.
