I'm sick of France hating me until the industrial era because I have a weak espionage system. And I'm sick of my allies declaring war on me the turn our alliance ends (looking at you Zulu)
I recall that in the recent devstreans, they said that the warmonger penalty system is replaced with a personal grievance system with an additional decay timer on the grievances, combined with other factors for international political reputations. Apparently this will be much less idiotic and unrealistic.
@@FledgePaddock actually the only one penlized is the player not the AI... i don't understand these 4x games with their crappy AI, AI is the CENTER OF THEIR f*** GAMES please be nice and do a favor to your community and FIX YOUR AI ! =(
Yeah, I think any reasonable player with any long-term experience playing the game through many military conflicts (with various causus belli) would agree that the warmongering penalty system is very poorly designed and should have been replaced in a day one patch for the base game... the redeeming counterpoints (gifting cities, cash, liberating, etc) don't even diminish the penalties enough to matter. You can barely defend yourself from the wars of others, or punish offensive civs by taking their cities, without everyone in the international community hating you. And having to take over enemy cities just to reach the landlocked city-states you want to liberate isn't really considered in the balancing of the penalties for Liberation and Protectorate Wars. The base game also should have been far more transparent about what affects the penalty value, and in the trade screen what diminishes it by how much. I'm eager to hear what the UA-cam streamers in the community with early access to press release copies of Gathering Storm have to say about the "Grievances" system and the International reputation component of it, relative to the presumably more flawed old system.
Well,it depends on how you play. I had few hating me for not fighting but my ally was Genghis. His army was the strongest. Genghis NEVER EVER betrayed me in game. However i agree on warmonger thing. Its completely idiotic.

AI is still what's holding Civ 6 back the most in comparison to 5. Hopefully the efforts to make diplomacy more transparent for the player translate into less seemingly irrational behavior from AI opponents.
that don't change anything the AI is still too dumbo too take a city from the player even with an army 5x bigger, still can't manage properly a city, and i'm sure with GS they will destroy the world 10 time faster than a multiplayer game full of cancer player
@@Leivve "It's said that the sacking of Rome by the Vandal hordes merely started as a Black Friday rush on Rome's wealth of Roombas and French Press Coffee Makers..."
I'm so hyped. Civ games have always felt so stagnant in terms of strategy, and I love that this will make the game more dynamic and fun, and adds a whole host of new elements to take advantage of. plus, GDR IS BACK, BABY!
Finally a legit valentine days present for myself! New civs unique habilites look great to try all of em. I'm just worried natural disasters could be too overkill/unrealistic (e.g. floodings is not a variable during the history of world conquest affecting more than a tiny fraction of empires). And curiously no earthquakes are added, weird
I really loved civ 5 and played it a lot but i just cant enjoy civ 6 as much as i did civ 5. You really had some nice ideas for civ 6 BUT there is a big lack of technologies in the mid game
Tyler N eh I don’t think it really offend anyone I’m a republican myself I like the mechanics of the system plus I get to play as China and destroy the world with co2 émission now I hope they add details like darker skies for heavily polluted areas. Pop lifespan so pops die but are refilled with breeding so the more of a pop survives the better so it can simulate what happened in the industrial era with decreasing lifespan due to pollution “The city was a city of red brick or it should have. The bricks were tainted with black soot, the city was both unnaturally red and black like a savage. The river a greasy dark purple due to dyes and smells afoul to high heaven if it even existed here.” Mark Twain
Dont forget that if you do that you then have to over compensate and invest heavily in alternative energy *after* you push the world past the point of no return so you can destroy the world alternative energy market through globalization....if you play the role, play it to the fullest...
Corruption can decrease money and diplomatic favor, and increases when you buy something with gold and naturally over time. You can unlock a project “Corruption purge” when you develop civil service, when finished it will decrease your corruption level
Oh my goodness, the seastead! And the black death scenario! Ever since you announced the dark ages mechanic, I wanted to see something like that in game. A global calamity that every civ needed to deal with! That's going to give modders so many tools to make that kind of thing a reality!
Honestly Rise and Fall didn’t interest me that much with general I guess most would call it safe civilizations. But however I’m getting very excited for this new one. They have so new civs that changes gameplay that I am gonna like playing with them. Solomon has a unique governor. The Maui start in the ocean. And you have a unique Harbour that you can move your capital with to build districts faster. Not to mention the new disasters coming into the game that will introduce a element of randomness, along with diplomacy victories, away to block world emergency, a whole new age that changes, and global warming. Honestly great job Civilization. This is the dlc that everyone will like.
Out of all the Civilization games, Civ VI has to be my favorite. This Gathering Storm DLC looks amazing! Job well done, everyone. However, I have to be honest. This DLC is WAY over priced for a Downloadable Content for the game. I'll definitely will wait for a sale on this baby!
I dunno but it seems a bit strange to hold off months on buying a game that could offer hundreds of hours of enjoyment just to save on the cost of a meal or two, or a fraction of a tank of car fuel.
@@KingOfForest22 To be fair, the DLC costs almost as much as the base game. You aren’t gonna tell me producing a DLC chunky is half as hard as producing a full priced game.
This looks like an absolutely magical expansion. Love it. Will we get any info on more minor changes (like tweaks to existing civs, rule changes to trade etc) prior to launch?
Ok what we really need is a much more balanced production system especially in the late game. Also we need a bit more buff harbours and aqueducts since these districts are kinda limited. Production systems are so frustrating from a balance perspective. Its surplus food that allowed civilizations to form in the first place, and for the most of human history, people were actually spending most of their time growing food. In reality highly fertile river valleys helped form the earliest powerful civilizations. We basically need +1 population to = +1 production so that we could focus more on science. Or give citizens for example a sort of scaling production yield per era. Start at +0.5 production per citizen and go to +0.25 per era. So that the big cities could keep up with the advances in mining tech, industrialization and workshops where you get +1 production on mines. A population with this system could generate anywhere from +0.5 production to +2.5 production in the late game.
@@johnedwardcastillo8442 Yes but I was talking more about the production system in the late game. Production is very hard to come by except by the hill tiles. There has to be system which converts food to production.
Amazing! I'd love to see maintenance needed for every infrastructure and power producer. Maybe if you didnt maintain your dam, it'd cause major flooding. Or of you didnt maintain oil/coal plants, it'd cause a fire that spread through your land progressively if not stopped, adding large amounts of co2 to the atmosphere.
@@spicynose Yes they are the same, that's the problem. They tailor the UI and mechanics of the PC version from the start to be easily portable to mobile & console. Just look at what happened to Godus for an example of mobile priorities ruining the PC version.
Looking forward to this! I'll admit, I'm just a little bit worried about the natural disasters turning into a frustrating mechanic where the player is repairing improvements every few turns, but I guess we'll see!
I'd love to see another DLC/expansion pack/civ pack with muh boii Enrico Dandolo as the leader of Venice. Quite similar to the way he played in Civ V. His unique district could be the Canal Grande - a Canal that can only be built in Venice itself and counts as a World Wonder. (This World Wonder might disappear if the sea-level rises)
No, it's WWI "War Machine:At the outset of WWI, the German Imperial Army had a daring plan: invade neutral Belgium and then rush the French heartland before they could mobilize to resist. If successful, the German forces would capture Paris within a month and end their resistance forever. In counter, the French command prepared Plan 17, an all-out onslaught designed to meet and stop a German offensive. When war was declared, both armies swung into motion and set up one of the most incredible and shocking military campaigns in world history. In this multiplayer scenario, players take the side of one of these two great powers at this same precipice. As Germany, your task is to capture Paris. As France, your task is to prevent its capture. The clock is ticking, and the enemy is moving. Advance!"
My friend and I are playing a game that started before the update. It's not quite finished yet, but I have two small UI issues and I don't know who to talk to! 1) Nations colours have changed - most changes are good so far, but Persia is really jarring to look at. Please take another look. Thanks! 2) Accepting and rejecting proposals switched places suddenly and it's almost caused us to accept bad deals.
I love that the price of an additional DLC is 39.99 base price, especially as it is not the only DLC in civ 6. I also love that the deluxe edition was a scam. I love it so much that I only play civ 5 now :)
Looking forward to play. But I disagree in nuclear polution. If you can build a modern Fluoride reactor that use Thorium there will not be a melt down.

AI and the shitty graphics and colours, and the lack of balance or benefits of coastal cities, etc. still one of the most failed civ titles ever.

you guys had me at "Giant Death Robot" :) thank you
It really cracks me up how blizzards and floods may cause your buildings and improvements to burn down.

I'm always hype for a Civ expansion, but this... Oh this is gonna be GOOD. It can't get here fast enough!
Corporate libertarianism and digital democracy...... WHY SID MEIER'S, WE ARE TOO UNWORTHY OF GAMES LIKE THIS, THEY ARE TOO GOOD
Synthetic Technocracy was also leaked on a dev stream, though we don't know what its policy cards or unique bonuses are.
RED Mad corporate libertarianism is just a whole civ on fire
They seem to get rid of most of your Other Policy slots and make them all Wildcards slots...
@@pedrogomezid So is digital democracy tbh. Actualy, all the new government types sound bad.
So, we're going full steam into dystopia or bust then? Whelp.
I really loved civ 5 and played it a lot but i just cant enjoy civ 6 as much as i did civ 5.
You really had some nice ideas for civ 6 BUT there is a big lack of technologies in the mid game
The biggest problem isn’t that, it’s the AI.
*Do nukes affect climate?*
This question influences my purchasing decision.
I have blocked several "friends" like you
My dad: climate change isn't real

Tyler N eh I don’t think it really offend anyone I’m a republican myself I like the mechanics of the system plus I get to play as China and destroy the world with co2 émission now I hope they add details like darker skies for heavily polluted areas. Pop lifespan so pops die but are refilled with breeding so the more of a pop survives the better so it can simulate what happened in the industrial era with decreasing lifespan due to pollution
“The city was a city of red brick or it should have.

Looks nice! How about real era stop function? I want to stop at ancient era
There are mods for that
~
I have. It's fine.
there should be a natural disaster called "corruption" when you're playing philippines.
How is corruption a fucking NATURAL disaster?
Corruption could be a cool mechanic.
Corruption can decrease money and diplomatic favor, and increases when you buy something with gold and naturally over time. You can unlock a project “Corruption purge” when you develop civil service, when finished it will decrease your corruption level
It's been more than year and still no one noticed that there is no Philipines civ in this game?
My favorite game. Indeed.
In love since Civilization III...
Marko same!
Oh my goodness, the seastead! And the black death scenario! Ever since you announced the dark ages mechanic, I wanted to see something like that in game. A global calamity that every civ needed to deal with! That's going to give modders so many tools to make that kind of thing a reality!
3:20 Gandhi might take ideas from that.
Now he is happy to nuke himself :D
They should put a sand box mode for lazy people like me.
So basicaly, you build your empire and then... Hurricane. Love it!
Or better, your neighbour conquers your old empire and then hurricane :D finally some justice!
That happened to me as Kublai Khan
I am so impressed. The addition of this content is going to add so many new dimensions and fresh challenges to the game.
All this end game looks so interesting! I'll still conquer the world with swordsmen.
I'm a simple man, I like simple things.
The canal district looks like something I've been asking for since Civ IV
Gathering Storm adds so much more content than Rise and Fall

So I could spend over a thousand hours learning a language. OR play Civ6's 2nd expansion. Choices... I guess I could play the game in Spanish?
well the leaders speak their native language so you can learn from them.
You certainly can. On my English class today, 90% of the words I'd already learn in videogames like Civilization VI.
2:45 OMG!!! I didnt know about this change!!
So you can cripple an enemy by starving them or embargoing them from Oil, holy shiiiiiiiit!
TY BLESSED SID
Trade routes through harbors are buffed, and aqueducts now prevent the food loss from droughts.
@@johnedwardcastillo8442 Yes but I was talking more about the production system in the late game. Production is very hard to come by except by the hill tiles. There has to be system which converts food to production.
I think Communism government has production bonus per population.
I feel like you watched Potato McWhiskey's video about problems in civ 6
As a matter of fact I did. And hes 101% on point.
Did you fix the AI?
Amazing! I'd love to see maintenance needed for every infrastructure and power producer. Maybe if you didnt maintain your dam, it'd cause major flooding. Or of you didnt maintain oil/coal plants, it'd cause a fire that spread through your land progressively if not stopped, adding large amounts of co2 to the atmosphere.
holy shit, this is a lot! I didn't expect so many new systems and content additions. This is shaping up to be a good one.
But is it coming to the switch?
God no, they already turned it into a mobile game. That surely effect design decisions and causes simplification for PC.
Malus hey stupid it’s already on switch and gameplay wise they simplified literally nothing. It’s the same game fully.
@@spicynose Yes they are the same, that's the problem. They tailor the UI and mechanics of the PC version from the start to be easily portable to mobile & console. Just look at what happened to Godus for an example of mobile priorities ruining the PC version.
November the 22 is date you want to hear.
@@Malus1531 Godus was bad on PC from the beginning, what are you talking about?
This game is getting closer to a World Simulator.
I love the Canada theme!
Looking forward to this!
I'll admit, I'm just a little bit worried about the natural disasters turning into a frustrating mechanic where the player is repairing improvements every few turns, but I guess we'll see!
Absolutely loving it! As usual, the best DLC yet :-)
Raving_Like_Rommel or maybe the grand canal can be built multiple time and are longer than normal canals, with a trade route bonus through the canals
@@sean-patrickmcclure2825 Good idea but i think it'd be hard to always find a place for a multi-tile wonder. Very much like the trade route bonus.
Suez Canal should be a world wonder.
Woah woah woah is that a WWII scenario at 5:44?
No, it's WWI
"War Machine:At the outset of WWI, the German Imperial Army had a daring plan: invade neutral Belgium and then rush the French heartland before they could mobilize to resist. Advance!"

Epic! Been waiting for such a DLC for so long!
