I love how Dante doesn't even pull the sword out of his chest even after the battle's over
Removing a blade from a stab wound is a bad idea until you’re ready to properly treat the wound. That, and Dante could not care less about another metal stick in his gut.

@@PrixtoTNT He was the director for Resident Evil 2 and DMC was originally a prototype of RE4, but the Kamiya was trying to make it cool instead of horror, so Shinji Mikami told him to make an indepent game entirely hence DMC was born, that's why the DMC1 share gameplay features like solving puzzel in a creepy castle and why Dante looks like Leon. But he only directed the 1st game that's why Dante's personality varies from 1-3 until Hideaki Itsuno directed 3 and make it the definitive Dante. Kamiya left Capcom and founded Platinum games and created Bayonetta that like the spritual successor of DMC

He has also stated in a interview that bayo is physically stronger then Dante.(this was before 5 though)But as we see being stronger then dante and being able to kill him are 2 different things.

@@thewatcher3429 Kamiya only created the first iteration so Bayonetta is stronger than DMC1 Dante, but later versions of Itsuno is debatable
You're pretty much right on the money with Dante actually not underestimating his opponents. In many situations its more like him acknowledging their strength and playing along, making his fights with Nero seem more like a mentorship role testing the extent of what Nero can do.
DMC5 shows moments of Dante dropping the cocky attitude and showing a more serious side when he knows something is that bad. Funny enough he still manages to fit a quick quip in even when he takes a serious threat literally.
It’s like Spider-Man. He makes jokes but still doesn’t underestimate his opponents. There is something great about antagonizing your enemy and knocking them off their game with some trash talk 😁
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 brb gotta see if someone has made a costume mode for DMC5 to turn Dante into Spiderman. JK of course but I've seen mods do hilarious stuff to that game just to use it for memes. Like character weapons replaced with body pillows of hololive vtubers or one character specifically having a legit Kyle Ren costume mod. You'll know him when you see him.
Dante always underestimates his opponents, it's been part of his staple for years now.
To be fair, when it comes to his brother, while he still jokes around with Vergil, he still took him seriously since he was still pissed at him for what he did.
It'd be cool to see them do a rematch, since Dante got stronger in DMC5 and Bayonetta 3 is coming soon :D

Why do you say that like it wouldn't just still be a stomp, or like the Sonic vs Mario rematch, they suddenly do things differently & make it somehow one sided for the character that should've been stomped.
@@geo3282 hate to say, i hard disagree. I think Bayonetta is putright stronger and their end result is wrong. Yes, Dante is way more durable than Bayonetta, but Bayonetta is also leagues above in terms of striking power. The creator being a good instance, qhere dante was clearly struggling to hold it off, Bayonetta fights similar foes constantly (half the bosses in the game are like that) and actually kills them at base power, not utilizing a secondary form.
Whiel in Devil Trigger, he does close the gap, but Dante loves to make everything a close striking match for his own flair and fun, which plays into Bayonetta's strength. Even going past, if Bayonetta gets her into her stronger form, she is able to literally destroy astroids, and punch gods into suns.
No, this was another case of Deathbattle Bias, which they have been caught on before. They even admit the Tifa vs Yang fight as being such a case.
Edit: in all fairness, while the analysis has gone downhill, the animations for the fights is still great and what everyone actually cares about.

Amazing props to whoever did the battle animations and effects. Loved it. The scene where their falling and fighting on broken pieces of the building, it reminded me of Dead Fantasy by the late Monty Oum.
Speaking of which, Dead Fantasy series might be worth checking out if you want to see fight scenes between Final Fantasy and the Dead or Alive series. It's over a decade old with 6 short episodes, but it's decent.

Youre absolutely right about Dante not underestimating his enemies. His confidence does not mean he is cocky, in fact he is always on guard against his enemies, he just wants to have fun while fighting. He even loses a fight sometimes, but that does not piss him off and he still keeps his cool.
While this death battle is great, personally, my favorite death battle is the Sephiroth vs. Vergil fight. I do think they exaggerated some of their feats, especially Sephiroth's, for the sake of a good fight, but it's entertaining nonetheless.
My favourite is either Dracula vs Ganondorf or Alucard vs Dio

They mainly nerfed Dante and Vergil but it’s fine. Everyone knows the research isn’t super accurate for these.

@@GokuInfintysaiyan well there's no surprise now that these Sons of Sparda are much more powerful than ever in DMC5. Considering both achieving SDT is a massive leap in feats.
Just to correct something, Love is Blue is only her main weapon in Bayonetta 2. Originally she used red guns called Scarborough Fair and she now used purple guns called Colour My World. Also yes her main weapons are named after songs.

They got 1 thing wrong about Ebony & Ivory, Dante needs to weaken the Bosses before having the bullet end them since they're still alive even after health is depleted.
They have a Death Battle for Vergil and a short battle for Trish but haven't gave Lady and Nero a shot, Nero deserves one because he's gained new abilities and tools at his disposal and since they've done rematches, it makes sense for Yang to go up against Nero and they literally have alot in common especially with their parents.
Would be really cool to see Nero in a Death Battle after checking him out in DMC 4 😀
Nah, it'd be a stomp in Nero's favor. No point in making such a mismatch.
I don't know either of these intimately, but I can share something about Angry Video Game Nerd that had a game advertised on this video.
The Nerd is one of the earliest big UA-camrs that are still active today. His entire gimmick was that he's angry about how bad early video games, or video game peripherals were.
In a lot of ways he's quite similar to Nostalgia Critic, just angrier.

Definitely one of the more well made Death Battles. Nice that you both got that one right.
Also, I have a suggestion for another "Fight Night Friday" video. There's this guy called "ClementJ64" who recently did a video explaining all of Tekken lore and just how crazy it is. Unlike most lore dump videos on Tekken, he actually makes it entertaining by emphasizing crazy moments and making funny jokes and references. It's a very fun way to introduce people to the world of Tekken lore.
I will warn though that it is over 1 hour and 40 minutes long, but the commentary he gives just makes it all worth it. You could probably do like what you guys have been doing for Devil May Cry and just watch certain parts at a time. Maybe even listen to one game at a time, and then watch the Tekken endings to those particular games to get more of the feel of Tekken overall.

Subbed to the gaming channel, I haven't watched any DMC5 playthroughs, I'm looking forward to it. DMC5 is one of my favourite modern games and DMC3 is one of my favourite PS2 era games.

Well he can't after Sega dropped the ball. But wouldn't been nice. Basically Nintendo only does Nintendo stuff. And they own Bayonetta. Capcom could do Nintendo but they do multi plat more. So if Nintendo is willing then it's possible. But history makes it clear that Nintendo don't share.

DBX is an spinoff of Death Battle where they don't do any research for the fights, they give the animator and fight director full creativity on what happens on them which can make the fights very fun.
This is one of my favorite fights that they've done, and as some people in the comments have mentioned Dante got stronger in the most recent DMC game and Bayonetta 3 could see her getting stronger too, or at least getting even more impressive feats so a rematch would be cool down the line!

Just Wondering have you watched the devil may cry anime I saw it a few years ago and after watching this death battle reaction I might just go and watch it again some time this week.

Yeah, this is definitely one of my favorite Death Battles. The characters compliment each other so well, I always personally kind of saw Bayonetta as a bit of a DMC ripoff but in all fairness "Heaven vs Hell" isn't exactly an original theme and super stylish and flirty combat isn't purely a DMC thing. Bayonetta was probably inspired by DMC's style and success, but I'd prefer to see them as friendly rivals rather than something more combative than that. I just prefer DMC both because I'm more familiar with it and because it's more up my alley (dominatrix librarian witch is a kink for sure, but it just isn't really MY kink...Trish is exponentially hotter with the "spikes and leather" rocker aesthetic IMO).
The fight in this one was one of their better-realized ones for sure though. Animation was on-point, using models that were at the LEAST very close to the in-game models of their most recent titles at the time, and the voice work really brought through a lot of the attitude and personality of the fighters. They showed off an expansive array of the stuff in their respective arsenals, both weapons and powers, and the general flow of combat felt very true to how this encounter would go. Dante would wolf-whistle at her before getting down to business, and Bayonetta would make some suggestive and condescending comments about putting him in his place after which she would shortly realize that Dante's place is wherever the hell he wants it to be lol.
Can't argue with anything in the video, it was a great matchup and was planned/executed well. Great content! :D

@@ericmartin8870 Personally, I think the story of how Bayonetta came to be is actually one of the most interesting tales in game development. It goes something like this: after DMC1 was released, team little devils (the studio responsible for the creation of the game) went to do something else, assuming they will be able to make DMC2 whenever they were done. However, as soon as they turned around, Capcom ordered the development of DMC2 to begin and did not inform any of the people who worked on DMC1. When team little devils inevitably found out, they were understandably outraged, but sadly at that point, there was nothing they could do. Afterwards, team little devils rebranded to clover studios and made a few more games for Capcom, but they were ordered to dissolve by Capcom after their games did not perform well enough financially. At this point, many of the staff members grew disillusioned with Capcom’s management and decided to resign and form their own studio. Afterwards, the director of DMC1 realized that, with Capcom out of the way, there was nothing stopping him and his team from making the DMC sequel they wanted to make all those years ago--and that game became Bayonetta1.
TL:DR: Bayonetta was the DMC1 crew’s FU to Capcom for screwing them out of the opportunity to make DMC2.
@@ifyouwantmoneythengivemeev8094 That's really interesting stuff, thanks for letting me know! Even though it sucks what happened with the original team, I think it ended up being good for the series and it brought its own series into being that's plenty popular and successful in its own right.
If Kayima and his team (after reading your comment I did a little Wiki-diving to read more on it) hadn't gotten shafted by Capcom, they wouldn't have ended up producing Bayonetta. DMC2 was definitely rocky and is kind of the black sheep of the DMC franchise, but it was Itsuno's first work in the series and he's brought us nothing but awesome since as the games keep getting better as they go.
So I guess out of tragedy came victory for most everyone involved. The original team has met with a bunch of success, the franchise has gotten even greater with Itsuno at the helm, and Capcom keeps makin money lol. Pretty cool for all that to start with a game that was originally supposed to be RE4 lol.
I also got a finger-snap-into-head-slap epiphany while reading the wiki and discovering Trish's source material. I knew Dante and Vergil were inspired by The Divine Comedy, but I never connected the dots that Trish is a play on Beatrice. That gave me a quick little mind-blown moment lol. God I love these games lol.
@@ericmartin8870 Yeah, all that's well ends well. However, what Capcom did to Kamiya and his team should probably go on the top 10 list for "most bitchy moves by game publishers, ever". Thankfully they are much better these days.

I really think Bayonetta and Dante would make an excellent duo and could teach each other new tricks or make a *hell* of a killing together. Dante would gain access to someone like Rodan, Rodan PROBABLY gets to learn new weapon designs, Bayonetta then gets new weapons, etc. everybody benefits

its funny cause the rose isn't like a gimmick its an actual game mechanic. Dante uses the rose as a trigger to detonate the light sabers and make them explode. But if there's one thing fans of both series want more then anything, its a crossover game with both characters
I don’t know how accurate Dante is to demonology but I am not kidding when I say Bayonetta is the most historically and mythologically accurate depiction of a witch I have ever seen.

Personally one of my favorite Death Battles.
This is definitely one of my favorite death battles consisting of two of my favorite video game characters ever created. Even though I love both of these characters very much, I was still biased for Dante and am glad that he won lol 😂

The "arrogance/cocky" thing is a controverse topic.
For some characters it's true, but for anime related characters like Dante, it's not the case.
He's arrogant, but he's also got something going for him. Bayonetta is awesome, but even I bet on him. Feel bad about it. But great animation anyway.
Otherwise, some characters are really cocky and get there asses kicked because of that hybris. Like Vegeta you know ;)

Fun fact: in Bayonetta 3 they fixed this 😂 she got stabbed multiple times /impaled herself. They definetely worked on it.
In Bayonetta three she dies in the game through a broken watch. Fhey basicslly gave her the biggest weakness anyone can get

I noticed you 2 were on a Devil May Cry marathon of sorts. You should check out the anime it's only 12 episodes long but it's pretty good. And this was a great reaction Dante had this in the bag from the gate. I'm a fan of both series and characters but Dante is just broken Bayonetta had no chance.

Haven't gotten to the actual Death Battle yet, but I feel the only thing Dante might straight up lose (die) to is that soul eroding power/weapon that Bayo has.
There is a starfish demon in dmc3 that does the same thing, in dt that wont work. Since he's stronger he has grown a resistance to it

Fun fact. Witches were killed off along with the sages but only bayonetta and her friend Jeanne are left. So to blend in bayonetta actually works as a nun while Jeanne is a highschool teacher.

Despite Death Battles popularity, they can be pretty biased and wildly inaccurate. According to DB's actual research team, Bayonetta wins, but the creator wanted Dante to come on top, so that's what happened in the video.
Regardless, Bayonetta does win, and anyone who says otherwise is ignoring her feats. She is stronger, faster, and more durable than Dante; the only advantage Dante has is his regeneration, but that wouldn't do much against Bayo's overwhelming advantage.
Some of the feats listed are not that impressive, but majority of them are for context, since a lot of people seem to underestimate her.
A quick rundown:
Strength
Catches missile and proceeds to play catch with her enemy
Blocks massive sword from an angel
Suplexes massive angel dragon and proceeds to tear off its head with her bare hands
Casually kicks jet flying directly at her
Headbutts a skyscraper with enough force to fly it back at her enemy
Redirects a massive satellite with her legs
Speed
Dodges lightning
Kicks fast enough to light her leg on fire (re-entry speed)
Dodges bullets instantly
Has been shown to dodge Loptr's attacks, who is fast enough to reach into space, grab a meteor, and throw it within seconds (she also summons a demon who destorys the meteor, so take that as a feat if you will)
Witch Time allows her to move so fast that everything around her is nearly frozen - in game Witch Time can be only activated by dodging at the last second, but in lore she can use it whenever she wants, as long as she wants. She can also stack multiple Witch Times, increasingly her speed and slowing everything else down.
Another example of Witchtime, this entire boss is fought within seconds, in the beginning Luka rappels up to the helicopter, and before he even makes it up, Bayonetta is already sitting in the vehicle.
This last point is debatable, and is most likely an exaggeration or written in for the sake of being poetic. Balder, an enemy she fights, has been described as "moving with the swiftness of light," and has a technique called "Light Speed." If we take this literally, then Bayonetta is indeed moving FTL since she is able to keep up with him and dodge of all his attacks. But I always find FTL feats a bit ridiculous, even for the context of these games, and don't believe neither Bayo or Dante move FTL. However, if we are, for the sake of argument, going to take both Dante's and Bayo's "FTL" feats into play, then yes, both characters should at least be equal in speed.
Durability
There seems to a massive misunderstanding on Bayonetta's durability, due to the fact that she is only "human." As seen above however, she is much, much stronger than any regular person and can absolutely take quite a beating, as seen with the headbutt. Despite having two games, Bayonetta has never been shown actually getting hurt, she gets knocked over on the rare occasion she is tagged, but there has been never signs of any actual damage. Her durability is insane. She has been shot directly in the face, with no visible damage or signs of getting hurt, has casually walked through massive tornados that are strong enough to fling cars, trucks and trees around, and has fallen from Pluto to Earth, including re-entry.
Another feat, Bayonetta has demonstrated soul resistance, there are enemies in the 2nd game which can quite literally steal ones soul, and she is simply shakes off these attacks.
Quick note, Dante does has regeneration, yes, but his durability is much weaker than Bayo. Here is an easy comparison of Dante getting pierced by a regular bullet, and as seen above, here is Bayonetta getting shot without taking any damage. For context, these bullets are strong enough to pierce through thick metal walls.
And while Bayonetta has not shown any feats of regeneration, it wouldn't surprise me if she does have some minor healing factor, since she is over 500 years old and appears only in her mid twenties. Oh yeah, Bayonetta also has much more experience fighting; due to some timeline shenanigans, she has been able and fighting for over 500 years. She has much more battle experience than Dante.
We've seen Dante take impressive amounts of damage before, but we've never seen him getting his head chopped off, or him getting pancaked. We've only seen Dante take cuts and piercing blows, he's never had to regenerate a severed limb. I find it hard to believe that Dante could recover from his head getting minced into pieces; he is not unkillable as some people say.
Various feats:
Defeated the captial G, God in the first game, although it was only at half power, so this is not nearly as impressive. However, in the second game, the "God of Chaos" manages to steal/take the FULL POWER OF GOD, and Bayonetta still comes out on top.
Other notes:
Quicksilver could allow Dante to keep up with Bayo's speed, but it wouldn't nearly be that great of a factor, since Bayo does fight the aforementioned Balder, who uses similar time techniques; he even "freezes" Bayonetta, but she simply breaks out of the time lock. As said before as well, Bayo can stack her Witch Times, and have it on for as long as she wants.
Royal Guard allows Dante to block any attack, but Bayonetta has a similar technique with the use of an accessory: The Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa, which, as you guessed it, allows her to block any attack.
Yamato is probably the only weapon that could harm Bayonetta, since it could bypass any defenses she has. However, it based on the power of the wielder; if the user is weakened, it is unable to cut through even normal metal. And a simple sword is nothing Bayonetta has not encountered before, and especially with her stats and skill, dodging shouldn't be a problem.
This also isn't even taking into consideration her many weapons/accessories with their various effects, nor her summons, which would be the equivalent to a boss fight in DMC. So not only would Dante have to fight Bayonetta, but a massive demon along side her (if she chooses to summon one).
So yea, Bayo wins.
Whoever wrote this, clearly didn't take dante's feats into an account. They'll probably be equal unless the "9d souls" from dmc is true.

This Death Battle is a lot of fun and fantastically animated but there are some glaring flaws with it. For example Witch Time and Quicksilver would not interact like it's shown here, not to mention Dante hasn't so much as suggested he still has access to Quicksilver since DMC3. Plus Bayo can use Witch Time as much as she wants while Quicksilver was limited use. There's more as well,but it's still a fun video and I'm glad ytou guys watched it!
Nice battle, but we all know that Dante should have lost within 30 seconds due to all his blood going... ahem...
