  • Playing the Big Asteroid Update for Spaced Out! The "big addition" (hahah) in this update is a larger "vanilla-like" starting asteroid combined with the new Spaced Out! star map and rocketry. We can play with Nuclear power and gassy moos!

    given the liquid tank is close to 2.5 times as much storage space as the gas tank i wonder if its worth the effort to liquefy it first to increase the storage capacity

    Pretty sure you can put a coal temp shift plate behind the center tile of a volcano and the heat from eruption will turn it into a natural tile and reblock it

    At this point, you might as well just line up an entire floor full of carbon skimmers on the bottom of the map.

    I think this video illustrates the biggest problem in ONI and it is that eventually the game just grinds to a halt because doing anything takes too long. I'd say that you're a fairly experienced ONI player and even you have to just leave the game idling for several hours to get projects done. There is something fundamentally wrong about how the dupes prioritize work, how they deliver materials and how long moving and building things takes.

    • @annana6098
      @annana6098 3 роки тому

      Sometimes I just sit and follow a dupe around to see where their time sinks are, they're all over the place. I've had some success setting priorities, but that's a time sink itself.

      Max I saw was 500 kgs, I never break all open at once, stick a pump in and vent it to an oil biome with wild slicksters on the entire bottom of the map, but make sure to heat it up (doesn't take much, even a cool steam vent waterpool is enough) Slickster will eat that stuff so fast, maybe even make an open stable in the biome to tame some slickster and really up their numbers.

      @@YouCountSheep That is assuming you notice it, these pockets of co2 can appear on the other side of the abyssalite borders between biomes.

    Man, this has taken a long time! over 700 cycles and you still are barely into the actual space aspect of the DLC (no dis, just an observation. i know you are the expert). I'm curious whether that is how the vanilla starting asteroid/DLC combo plays out normally or not compared to the full normal DLC

    I calculated the space efficiency of the rocket gas canisters and commented on another player’s video. Here it is copied and pasted, since it’s relevant to you Brothgar!
    Also the new recording technique makes total sense at this point in the game.
    The regular Gas Reservoir takes up 15 tiles (5 * 3), plus the floor needed (5 * 1), for a total footprint of 20 tiles, and holds 150kg. That's 7.5kg per tile used.
    An equivalent space wise for a room would be a 6 tile (3 * 2) open gas tank, with walls that would make it 20 tiles (5 * 4), for a total of 120kg at 20kg/tile via High Pressure Gas Vent, for 6kg per tile used.
    I'm not going to write out a door compressor, but you can get infinite gas storage through that.
    -
    A Large Gas Cargo Canister takes up 25 tiles (5 * 5), is stackable (x * 25), plus the Rocket Platform of 14 tiles (7 * 2), and holds x * 1100kg. Plus the Gas Rocket Ports to Load and Unload the Gas at 6 tiles (2 * 3) each.
    I used a graphing program, and got [1100x / (25x + 26)] with 2 Ports, where x=the number of Canisters. With rounding to the closest integer, at x=1 it’s 22 kg/tile, x=2 it’s 29kg/tile, x=3 it’s 33kg/tile, and so on to the horizontal asymptote of y=44.
    -
    In conclusion, it’s about 3 times as efficient to have a single large rocket canister in comparison to a gas reservoir, and it only gets better the taller you build it.

    10:30 for gas/liquid eater, its better use door than tile for other side (4d), so it can suck from gas/liquid from top-bottom/left-right. and increase amount by make double door (8d), or all door instead (12d) for crazy sucsion and amount(not test 12d yet ^^)

    Hey i got the qeustion about the rocket gas holders. Do they flood. If you put them under water. Because making a
    Gas liquid tank in one is then my option. Make a big liquid reservoir whit the gas holders in it. So less space you need for storing. And colling al at once.

    I discovered that tank shenanigans a few days ago, these tanks are so big and are so handy for fully utilizing geysers. And the liquid tank should be almost as useful, I was planning to use a rocket platform in vacuum with 2 tanks 2 loaders and 2 unloaders for liquid hydrogen and oxygen right next to the rocket that they have to fuel. Probably have to insulate a bit so the exhaust doesn't mess it up, but tanks this big with alot of liquid oxygen and hydrogen inside should be an exceptional storage solution without having to have it in a liquid form in a tank where it exchanges heat. Another trick I learned is using radiant pipes in vaccum for liquid hydrogen and run a supercoolant radiant loop (doesnt't have to be full) next to it with some shift plates to precool the pipes, only has to be done once, the hydrogen or oxygen only changes temperature because the pipes are not at that temperature yet and insulated takes alot longer to precool. As much as I love the idea of harvesting energy from rockets the fuel lines kinda have to run in a vaccuum and could even be cheap aluminum, as opposed to insulation pipes. PS a real spaced out playthrough on a DLC map and non classic is much harder, much smaller asteroids with spread out resources. You can truly make satellite bases like you have been doing, setting up on other planets is extremely difficult, especially the lava one, where there is only abyssalite and molten magma right underneath, you have to bring everything and shoot a ton of resources beforehand to make a rocket pad and a fueling solution so you can launch from there again.

    You can easily disable any kind of volcano with a well placed temp shift plate made out of refined carbon - it has very low melting threshold, as well as low threshold for making a solid tile out of material when melted.

    There is a more efficient gas smasher. All doors. Outside door close, Inner doors close, all open. This allows it to pressurize faster since it can take in gas from every direction, and therefore operate faster

  • @OverworkedITGuy

    I think the problem with your aluminum volcano is that you have some pretty large gaps in the cooling loop. probably due to the nuclear waste you are using in the pipes getting spit out of the aqua tuner at some point. might want to swap to a different "coolant" or fill the loop back up at the very least.

  • @moshedolejsi9033
    @moshedolejsi9033 3 роки тому

    Easiest way to tame an aluminum volcano is to make it so both the aquatuner and volcano are in the steam chamber > Ship aluminum in a big circle through the steam chamber to get it to ~130 then kick it out to run it through some metal tiles that you are cooling w/ the aquatuner. One turbine can then cover the heat load.
