it is art. the show was originally conceptualized as a variety show featuring a large collective body of avant garde (and just plain goofy or nuts) animators, giving them a platform to reach a larger audience - taking their work out of the art houses and into mainstream television. it worked....there isn't an artist i know today (myself and wife included) that wasn't HEAVILY inspired by something we once saw and remembered from 'liquid television'. such an amazing show. mtv is not the same....
the liquid tv revival in 2014 doesn't have quite the same... creepiness as this one from the 90s. I remember seeing this as a little boy. My childhood felt dreamlike.
this was the internet for us kids when there was no internet. if we wanted the weird stuff, we either had to go fishing really really deep by asking anyone who knew where to find it, or just watch liquid television and let it inspire us.
This is where Bevis & Buthead comes from, spawning King of the Hill ! Always love it!the most original abstract of our time ! "Vincent Vangough," if you will, of the 90's
them nuns 1:54. seriously. i remember this scary shit i was only 11 when i used to watch this at like 8pm at night. Id wouldnt even make 11pm these day lol. most likely wouldnt allow this shit on tv :p
absolutely....i miss MTV being the proverbial middle finger to other mainstream outlets. goddamm, half of my childhood revolves around MTV, and i never remembered it being so bland.......maybe it was because i was just a kid, i dunno. either way, i fucking miss this show.
