Canon Powershot A495 Review. This Canon Powershot A495, A490 is a very nice compact 10mp digital camera. It comes in 3 colors, maroon, blue and grey. Canon powershot A490 comes in grey only. This is a simple to use and simple to understand camera for under $100. The pictures come out very good. You have a few settings that you can change like white balance, and different modes for taking pictures in different lighting conditions. The video is lackluster since it only comes in a VGA format. There is however an SD Card slot, right where the batteries go. You can use your own AA batteries to operate the Canon Powershot a495, a490. The overall functionality of the camera is simple. The 2.5 lcd screen is very nice and you can toggle between different modes with the press of the button. The same goes for photo to video mode. You have the usual adjustments for flash, auto mode or your own setting for taking pictures. What you get for the price is a great value. You can't go wrong with this Canon Powershot a495 or a495. I have one too, but when I put AA batteries on it the camera won't turn on correctly and says "Change the batteries", Do u guys know what could it be? :(

try using eneloop or energizer batteries. i have the same camera! maybe your aa batteries were not compatible with the cam :>

I don’t know much about this but I heard that it’s better to use a single 3.2V rechargeable aa battery and another spare one that isn’t actually functional to just take up the space

had the same problem, try energizer or duracell.. as far as i understand you need alkaline batteries, not zinc ones
