Dr. Carmel Zitronblat, the AKBAN Jerusalem dojo headmaster, and big G. show Ninjutsu short stick randori basic techniques and tactics. www.akban.org/...
Is Hanbo appropriate for protection against multiple dog attack? I know somebody who was in that situation when walking her dog, (two Bull Arabs attacked without warning or even a sound) and she had a child with her too, she now takes a long hardwood rod with her, but what methods are best applied to that situation?
Good question Daniel. Multiple dog attacks are extremely dangerous. A stick is not 100% insurance. But a short stick is a good weapon that might be able to ward of couple of dogs
@@AkbanOrg Thanks for your advice. I gather that the motivations and psychology of the attacker/s is very different and this should guide one's own actions? Also the geometry of movement is compressed downward. It is hard to know how to dissuade such an attacker with the minimum force necessary so as to minimise harm because it is not something easily practiced. I am surprised how little knowledge is publicly available on the subject given that it is an age-old problem, even the Tomb of Tutankhamun shows two dogs with collars attacking people (in battle).
@@jonfisher9214 No that is insane, logically flawed, as there is no place where people may go where there is zero risk of dog attack. We will just kill the dogs if we are legally justified, problem solved.
@@DanielSMatthews you don't have dog free parks in your country? Not sure how common sense makes me insane but please don't start killing dogs just because you think it's legal to do so. Always some nutter whenever I comment on UA-cam lol!
The intensity of the sparring is applaudable but the video doesn't show an understanding of Kuki sabaki or striking principles. For example, when holding the hanbo in two hands then letting go with the rear to strike instead of the way strikes are taught by the Kuki family. The angling of the evasions and moving the torso instead of the feet to evade is actually dangerous(acceptable because you are only showing single sweeping strikes but not dealing with thrusts or multiple attacks) and unrealistic. For the actual sparring, it would have been nice to see an attempt to emphasize the skills and strategies from the ryu itself, instead some of it looked a bit wild and a lot of flailing arm strikes. That is fine if you just want to have a go and demonstrate what defending against the average attacker would look like but it doesn't really move the skillset forward. Anyway, good to see people doing more than just rote kata training, but hope you refine the skills from the ryu as you go forward.
This is not good..... shameful....takamatsu sensei said that when you block it's like a shield like a guard not this crazy swinging and turning your head away awkwardly to avoid the attack.. stand use form and keep your guard with the stick.....what I see hear is sorry but comical.....
this is the realist thing i have ever seen. Really beautiful work!
I was sure I answered this one, hmm UA-cam... anyway, thanks Joshua!
@@AkbanOrg in a future can you show defence against knive but with resistence

The correct method would be to not take a child and your family pet into an area where you know there is a risk of dog attacks.

It looks like Dog Brothers stick fighting. Less violent, though. But what connection does it have with Bujinkan technique?
This is Bujinkan technique. Catch our wiki for reference www.akban.org/wiki/Main_Page
Thanks that was helpfull
Thanks!
Great level of skill and control, reminiscent of Giron Escrima
That's a high praise. Thanks!
Excelent
Thanks!
Where do you buy the hand and arm guards and the helmets?
Nothing fancy, all standard martial arts protective gear. Various vendors.
It's likely you might get into grappling after a good strike or evasion rather than continue to duel at range, no?
It’s possible
Thanks for these videos! Can Sensei tell me where to look for these protective gauntlets. What do you call them?
Tozando.com
@@AkbanOrg thanks a lot. We actually get some stuff from them. We will look at these as well.
This is good but they should have more protective gear or lighter weight weapons for better training
Agreed Dan Dan
Hey guys, you understand it's NOT stick fighting, this is type of kendo ))
Maybe
