This is definitely the case. The music in-game switches in two cases. Nero either smacks Vergil around to the point he transforms or Nero uses his Devil Trigger.
Vergil: This has nothing to do with you. Stand down. Nero: This has nothing to do with me? *IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH ME!* Vergil: *Nero....* This is probably my favourite dialogue out of the whole game, because when Vergil says 'Nero' you can hear a shudder or pain in his voice sort of like how he is disappointed in himself in that instant. Vergil always wanted to be loved or protected, but had to sacrifice everything to survive and chase power, especially when he realised he didn’t have a father and mother, and at the time a brother. By doing so he became the very thing he hated. It's sort of like Vergil realised, everything he did. He left his son in the same circumstance that he hated. Loneliness. Ofcourse he was probably ignorant to the existence of Nero. But I think he clearly regrets it. I also like how at the end, when Vergil loses to Nero he says 'I can still fight' Nero says the same in the beginning when Dante tells V to get Nero out cus it was a bad plan and calls him ‘Deadweight’. Showing that in a way, Vergil is proud of him.
Vergil even had to *ask* Dante just to make sure that Nero was actually his son. You could tell that Vergil’s head was still wrapped at the idea of him a having son that he didn’t know of and unknowingly abandoning said son to pursue power.
All perfect reason he pulled his punches when he fought Nero too, on top of being exhausted of course. It's like a Dad playing with his Son after a tired day from work lmao
Another detail with this scene/fight is that if you get hit by the grab/impale move Vergil can do as Dante, Vergil has a look of disdain/anger on his face. When he hits Nero with it, you'll see a flash of remorse and hesitance on his face. The M20 fight is not something Vergil wanted to do deep down, despite him trying to keep up his appearance with the whole "If I beat Nero, then I beat you Dante" line moments earlier. A little update: I finally understand how to play the vocal during the fight! I was training against Vergil in Son of sparda difficult (i'm in the DMD run) and, when he created his doppelganger, I stunned him in my DT form and do the grab with the doppelganger alive. The animation was different and the vocal lyrics kicks in! SO GOOD. TL:DR how to hear the vocal during the fight: 1) Vergil and Nero must be in Devil Trigger Mode 2) Vergil doppelganger *must be alive* 3) You must stun Vergil and grab him with the Buster. 4) Enjoy.
Do you just need to use the standard grab, does the breaker arm work too? edit: You can grab vergil and the dopperganger with the breaker arm first then the standard DT breaker. Don't know if that does bonus damage or nah.
I can't believe how amazingly this mission sets up a future game. I really hope they explore Vergil and Neros relationship instead of making Vergil evil again because "he needs power".
I think DMC5 is finally the definitive turning point for Vergil's character. Vergil giving Nero 'V's' book and telling him to hold onto it until their rematch makes me pretty sure he has no intention of abandoning his son now that he knows he actually has one. It makes sense too since that exact loneliness and lack of a parental figure is what led to his life being so terrible in the first place. Overall he just seems way more introspective in 5 and the epilogue where he's working together with Dante makes me hopeful for him.
@@Jotunn96 imagine if DMC6 ends with Nero and Vergil sparring just to see who's truly improved between the two after the... very long time of not seeing each other.
Personally, I think that dmc6 should have Vergil going alongside Dante as they go through the missions, each competing throughout the story on who kills the demons better (kinda like the ending of dmc5), and the game ends with them in a tie on killing the demons and they just decide to fight again. Edit: Nero should also be an option to play the mission with because father son rivalry
damn, this moment. where you choose to press the dt button and the real fight begins. a breathtaking synergy of gameplay and storytelling. legit game design genius
I've listened to this so many times that I can hear the lyrics in my head. DMC's music will forever be printed in my mind as one of the best OST's in video game history.
The song's transition is a reflection of how Nero smacking his father into senses from his self-pity driven pursue of power. Yes, grandma died. Yes, you were powerless. What could've you done? You were 8-10 years old. Isn't it time to man up, move on and start taking care of your living family instead of running away like a scared little kid? One thing Nero did overpowering Vergil is that he dares to face his problems. And he proved Vergil wrong for tossing away his human side, for considering they are weak. By defeating his father, despite him having only 1/4 of demon lineage vs his father's 1/2 demon lineage. Shattering his father's notion of demon stronger than human misconception once and for all.
@@Thomaswalton9801 I have a theory that Demons need human blood as a source of they powers, that's why Mundus invaded the human world, to enslave humanity as their energy farm. Demons may be strong but they cannot replenish their own powers, they cannot self-sufficient, sorta like parasites from another world. That's why they consume other's powers when they kill one another, sort of like how Dante & Vergil gain devil arms when they killed the demons. The reason that Dante & Vergil are so special is because they're half-humans, which means their powers can be self-replenish, they are technically like the demon-equivalent of nuclear reactors so even though their demon powers are limited, their source of mana/power is technically unlimited. Therefore in that, Nero who has 3/4 of human blood may last longer in fight than them even though in raw demonic power he is no match for the twins. You can see the cutscene at the end of the fight where Dante & Vergil can easily knockback Nero with a backfist. So Nero probably didn't outright defeated his father, he probably outlasted his father in stamina because Vergil just had a fight with Dante.
@@KyranSparda Actully having more human blood means more power Dante himself said that nero is more powerfull than him Nero had more latent potential than both But vergil and dante have more experience and are fully developed Nero has just started awakening his power
I love the dubstep-y main part of Silver Bullet, but the violin genuinely makes me cry when viewed through Nero's eyes. "This piece of shit just stole my arm, containing a weapon of mass destruction I was trusted to keep safe. I have to take my revenge and get it back. "But said piece of shit is also my father, and he has had a literally lifelong grudge/rivalry against my mentor and uncle, who 1) thinks I'm not strong enough to stop Vergil on my own, and 2) doesn't want me killing the very little family I have left, so he's going to kill him himself. "With this new information, I realize that my only biological family is about to destroy itself over a sibling rivalry. I am the only one that has even a remote chance of keeping the twins from killing each other." So to facilitate all of this: This deadweight devilman, through sheer force of fucking will, regrows his arm, and unlocks his true, almost angelic-looking Devil Trigger, to confront his family and put an end to the decades of bad blood on equal footing. This is a near perfect Hero's Journey, and I love it with all my goddamn heart.
Seriously, the call backs are so chill inducing, especially when Vergil impales Nero as he did with Dante from the 3rd installment, but Nero instead gives him a taste of his own bitter medicine. *Ah, hell no! - right through Vergil's gut -*
blank blank I ain’t lying I really did enjoy it and the newer approach but I do agree to the fact it was a bit short but I also got the feel they just wanted it to be a “hey Were back” kinda game.in truth though it’s a great game and there is many more to come before it’s decided but damn I would love to see it get goty
I think both those lines are to show us that Nero thinks he is as strong or stronger than Dante. "If Dante can solve this problem I'm not needed". So obviously if Nero thinks that he would get offended at Dante calling him deadweight.
I love this song so much. It starts out all somber and tragic: father vs. son, and the father is willing to kill his own son just to settle a score (though it also highlights the tragedy in Nero and Vergil's relationship; Vergil abandoned Nero and his mother before Nero was born, and he knew it deep down, given that melancholy "Nero..." after Nero says "It has everything to do with me!"). Then the beats drops and the song reminds you: "HEY! You see that guy over there? Yeah, THAT guy? He stole your arm, abandoned you when you were born, and slaughtered thousands in his pursuit of power. KICK. HIS. ASS." This whole fight is Nero literally beating some sense into Vergil and showing his father just what his pursuit of power got him: an ass-kicking.
I love this theme so much, it’s an amazing boss theme. Seriously hypes me up when fighting Vergil And thanks for this edit! I’m surprised it’s so good considering this theme is adaptive music to the extreme
Dante: embodiment of keeping his fathers legacy pure Vergil: embodiment of his father only for the sake of power to preserve it. Nero: the embodiment of accepting what he has to do for the sake of his family and those around.
"Feeling accepting yet?" "Of your strength? Or your existence?" "BOTH you fuckin' asshole!" Love that line. Also I screamed in joy when I finished the fight by suplexing Vergil mid-charge using the Devil Buster
@@Chimera_VA next you’re gonna tell me King Cerberus can block Judgement End Edit: the joke is the Cerberus sphere attack does in fact deflect attacks…including Judgment End
The song goes from incredibly sad and somber at the horrible circumstances of how we've gotten to this point, with an entire family at each throats attempting to fight and even kill each other. Then it completely changes as we remember that this moment isn't sad, this is the point where the violence can finally end as Nero stops it all and it is actually triumphant.

**Sword clash, Vergil impales Nero.**

SO GOOD.
TL:DR how to hear the vocal during the fight:
1) Vergil and Nero must be in Devil Trigger Mode
2) Vergil doppelganger *must be alive*
3) You must stun Vergil and grab him with the Buster.
4) Enjoy.
You da man
I had no idea about any of this yet I did it first time, lol. The special animation with the doppelganger surprised me.
Do you just need to use the standard grab, does the breaker arm work too?
edit: You can grab vergil and the dopperganger with the breaker arm first then the standard DT breaker. Don't know if that does bonus damage or nah.
@@mat8791 breaker arm does more damage
You just need to Buster Vergil while he's in SDT. The DoppleGanger isn't a requirement.
Overall he just seems way more introspective in 5 and the epilogue where he's working together with Dante makes me hopeful for him.
but muh power
@@Jotunn96 imagine if DMC6 ends with Nero and Vergil sparring just to see who's truly improved between the two after the... very long time of not seeing each other.
Personally, I think that dmc6 should have Vergil going alongside Dante as they go through the missions, each competing throughout the story on who kills the demons better (kinda like the ending of dmc5), and the game ends with them in a tie on killing the demons and they just decide to fight again.
Edit: Nero should also be an option to play the mission with because father son rivalry

The fuck you mean? This fight emotional as all hell; the emotion is just hype and rage as opposed to sadness.
Actually nope, because as soon as the game told me to devil trigger I just did it
DMC3: haunting operatics… *Vergil gets a new devil arm* …drums and power chords
DMC5: sad violin… *”fuck you”* …EDM starts playing
I've listened to this so many times that I can hear the lyrics in my head.
DMC's music will forever be printed in my mind as one of the best OST's in video game history.
It owns your mind, not rent it.
💪🏻 BASED SSS ❗
i would like to know how strong nero's 1/4 lineage really is since vergil and dante are both stronger than sparda in dmc5
@@KyranSparda
Actully having more human blood means more power
Dante himself said that nero is more powerfull than him
Nero had more latent potential than both
But vergil and dante have more experience and are fully developed
Nero has just started awakening his power
Cap, but I believe it
Pov: you steal your son's arm, but he steals your boss theme
I am the only one that has even a remote chance of keeping the twins from killing each other."
So to facilitate all of this:
This deadweight devilman, through sheer force of fucking will, regrows his arm, and unlocks his true, almost angelic-looking Devil Trigger, to confront his family and put an end to the decades of bad blood on equal footing.
This is a near perfect Hero's Journey, and I love it with all my goddamn heart.
dubstep? 🤣
Nero has a better looking angelic form than Credo does.
Well said 😊
"That bastard just called me dead weight!" vibes
Remember everyone, Don't call your Nephew "Dead Weight." even if they are, Dante learns this after just one bitch-slap.
Can I just say 3 years after this game was released and that opening violin still gives me chills

best game of 2019 hands down
Seriously, the call backs are so chill inducing, especially when Vergil impales Nero as he did with Dante from the 3rd installment,
but Nero instead gives him a taste of his own bitter medicine.

Nero: I shouldn't even be here, Dante's got this Also Nero: DID YOU JUST CALL ME DEAD WEIGHT
I think both those lines are to show us that Nero thinks he is as strong or stronger than Dante. "If Dante can solve this problem I'm not needed". So obviously if Nero thinks that he would get offended at Dante calling him deadweight.
Nero: You feeling accepting yet?
Vergil: Of you existence or your strength?
Nero: Both you f***king asshole!

@@ChibiNinjaVT **EPIC SUPLEX*
Vergil: stabs Nero
*dubstep plays*
Vergil: wait, what happens to my boss music?
Nero: it's my boss music now!
KICK. HIS. ASS."
This whole fight is Nero literally beating some sense into Vergil and showing his father just what his pursuit of power got him: an ass-kicking.

I love this theme so much, it’s an amazing boss theme. Seriously hypes me up when fighting Vergil

Nero's most badass moment in the series imho

Vergil: embodiment of his father only for the sake of power to preserve it.
Nero: the embodiment of accepting what he has to do for the sake of his family and those around.

Sparda family fights:
The song goes from incredibly sad and somber at the horrible circumstances of how we've gotten to this point, with an entire family at each throats attempting to fight and even kill each other. Then it completely changes as we remember that this moment isn't sad, this is the point where the violence can finally end as Nero stops it all and it is actually triumphant.
