Those acoustic panels are great. They can be found cheaply if you shop around for them. Been using for years on areas that can be seen on camera. The other areas not on camera - save your money and use cheap moving blankets. GREAT episode!
Thank you for starting the video by talking about your recording space. So many podcasters forget this, or ignore it, because they've been told by some "guru" that "it's all about the most expensive mic and you'll sound great", then wondering why the mini aircraft hanger they're recording in (at least it sounds like that!) is giving such a bad end product.
Love my various pieces of Rode equipment (for podcast audio) as does my colleague (documentary video). Easy and fun to use in the quest for that perfect sound.
Love my Procaster... been a staple of my everyday life for years now. Definitely been considering a Rodecaster to replace my aging Audient iD14. Not that I do much podcasting, but all of my audio processing is done on the fly via Audio Hijack on my Mac for my live work (I spend hours a day on audio/video conference calls) and through OBS on my PC for any live streams or videos. Would be nice to offload that to something like a Rodecaster.
Absolutely @JonnyBravo0311 - not only does it save your CPU from doing that processing, it's a bit easier to manage if you're using it and changing it a lot.
@@rodemic one of the limitations I've found with my iD14 is its inability to switch from my PC to my Mac and back via a USB switcher. I have to constantly swap USB cables. Given that I have two machines I use regularly (the Mac and the PC) for audio (Zoom / WebEx / Teams etc on my Mac and OBS / DaVinci Resolve / Audacity on my PC) this is a bit cumbersome. Can the Rodecaster be used via a USB switcher, or does it have two outputs that I could send to both my PC and Mac without having to manually swap cables every time I move from one machine to the other? Edit: it would appear this is very easy to accomplish since the Rodecaster has 2 USB ports. I could connect USB 1 to PC and USB 2 to Mac (or vice-versa). I wonder how much more of a Rode advert my desk will become LOL (Procaster, VideoMicro on my Lumix G9, Wireless Go, Lav and Lav Pro) and now most likely the Rodecaster Duo.
Using our newest firmware update for the RØDECaster Pro II or RØDECaster Duo, yes, you will be able to use your XDM-100 with the USB2 port on your mixer! Learn more here: rode.com/en/about/news-info/new-rodecaster-firmware-unlocks-usb-mic-connectivity
Hi, I'm a start-up and desperately in need of any equipment that can be spared so that i can help my local disadvantaged community gain a new skillset. pre-owned or ex demo equipment would be great! can you help?
I guess still no functionallity to record seperate audio sourses in obs? I mean seperate game audio to mic and let's say discord chat? Thanks for response in advance
This is all good, but I need to know how to record 3 voices by 3 mics and they dont disturb esch other, I have to spend 8 hours to editing for 1 hour recorded, beacuse I have to separate every second sentense from each person said …
Dynamic microphones are ideal for these use cases as they are less sensitive so as a result, it will lower the likelihood of audio from one microphone to bleed into the other. If you are indeed using a dynamic microphone, you may need to look into the spacing and direction of your microphones as well as acoustic treatment of your room!
My advice, don't focus a lot on mics and location. Get a good mic and set up in a location where there aren't a lot of people. After that, use one of the AI voice cleaners and enhancers like Auphonic or Adobe Podcast Enhance. These are very accessible and cheap options that will save a lot of money and hassle while recording. I produce a lot of podcasts and interviews and I use AI heavily and it has changed my workflow and enhanced our quality dramatically.
Oh, this is all hardware & settings-related stuff. Sure, that's good for dressing and finish, but I thought you were going to talk about improving the ACTUAL voice for recording, like s l o w i n g d o w n, reading ALOUD through the copy once before recording, finding your optimal relaxed octave, remembering to breathe between phrases and not "up-talking" at the ends of declarative sentences or falling into other lazy speech patterns. You know, the voice. Other than that, good on ya, mate.
Good video but with one or two exceptions. Unless your guess are required to hear audio from an ecternal source, eg a phone call, them wearing headphones is a bad idea. What will a guest wearing cans say "Oh does my voice really sound like that?!!!" It will put them off. Yes, you or the producer should monitor the recording but frankling if your guest goes off mic, pops or sounds just s*it, they probably wont know the difference if it hits them between the ears. Its YOUR job to politley coreect them so they don't sound rubbish. The kit should not intrude on the conversation. It's an ear that's all, so de-clutter it with kit reduction like headphones. 2. Those round stocking things do nothing to stop pops and just ruin sight lines. Foam windshields are far better. You as the presenter should learn not to do it. You as the producer, should set the mic up to minimise it.
And this whole video makes sense if you're an audio engineer. Hertz what!!!? As an actor and podcaster, I have no idea about sound unfortunately, and feel it needs a degree to understand. Even in this great how to video, you lose a lot of viewers because of the technical intricacies of audio knowledge required. Now, with the improving advent of AI, wouldn't it be great if you could come up with a system that is plug and play, the AI adjusts settings to suit. Fingers crossed!
Hey there @MCD1031 - sorry that this video didn't have enough info for your needs! We've passed your feedback onto the team. If you're looking to learn more about using our products, our user guides are always the best places to go: rode.com/en/user-guides
@@rodemic I always love watching, even if the videos are basic. Just wish there was more in depth videos on settings, functions and connections with cameras and phones. Maybe even live demos. Also I wouldn’t mind taking classes or coaching if you offered it. Anyway Love your products, have the Duo, Wireless Go 2 and a bunch of others. Might get the rode podmic too.

Is it just me or does this guy sound Californian, Irish and Australian. Nice combo mate!
Probably means he’s from South Dublin…
Well hey there @Rode ! This is EXACTLY the task I have been working on/struggling with for a couple of days.
Glad we could help Bob!
Great video, would of been nice if you talked about compression in detail as you did with the EQ settings. Thank you for the advice
We have more detailed videos around the processing settings, inc. Compression with the RØDECaster here: ua-cam.com/video/bRPvvCnjQlI/v-deo.html
I love this type of videos. Very informative and short. And I love røde mics😊

Thanks for the kind words, @wstks-fmworldwide5390! Good luck on your quest 🙏
Thanks Stephen for the really helpful tips.😊🎙
It amazing video, is it possible to playback what I recorded on rode caster due so I can check my recording file or I have to check it on my pc
You will need to check the files on your PC - it's not possible to view them on the Duo directly.

😂
GOOD JOB RODE
Rodecaster Pro ii What is on this device 32bit will be Available?
Hey there, the RØDECaster Pro II isn't able to record in 32-bit float at this time, but we'll pass that feedback onto the team!
Can we use Rode XDM 100 with procasterpro?

Now I just need a British or Australian accent. How do you do this on a rode caster pro 1
Haha I bet AI can help!

Correct, @BizantyjskiBorsuk - that's not possible at this time.
Please add this functionality in your 3rd version of this device then I will buy it day one
i am a pro voiceover, and I use only rode mics. thank you.

Don't you think it makes a voice sound robotic?
There is mistake in what you say. You said we increase frequency at 1 k to increase clarity. This is wrong. I think you mean to increase it at 10k.

Good suggestion John, maybe we need another video on vocal techniques to get the best out of your voice!

I bought a Rode NT USB and I completely regret it. Worst decision I ever did.
