I've remade this guide for Dawntrail, as a full level 1-100 guide, although it still includes a level 50 summary as usual! Find it below! ua-cam.com/video/m9yxAOshwOs/v-deo.html Enjoy!
Great video! Until now I haven't really considered playing bard, but it seems like a fun job! I appreciate the fact that you went into the little details of how it should be played optimally. On a personal note, you have a very nice, soothing voice that I'm sure more watchers also appreciate!
Thank you so much Nilrori! It can get a little overwhelming with all the things you need to keep track of, so if you do choose to try it, don't get discouraged if you forget something or mess up the order! In fact, often the order will get a bit messy in a real fight! :D And thank you for the personal note, it is reassuring to hear this! ^^
With Patch 6.4, Bard got some quality of life changes: -> Mage's Ballad and Army's Paeon now pulse their damage boosting effects in a 50 (FIFTY) Yalm radius. -> Battle Voice and Peloton now have an area of effect of 30 yalms. Number corrections in the video: I misread Raging Strikes and for some reason assumed it was worth 10% for the entirety of the video. This does not change anything for how you use it, however, the accurate Potency increases are: 3:20 - Bloodletter stockpiling is worth +16.5 Potency. 11:40 - The gain in the example is 15%, which adds up to 45 Potency instead. The conclusion is the same.
While this was a little confusing for me as a new player it was also greatly helpful and I will be using this video for reference while I level. Thank you.
I'm glad you found it helpful! Yeah there have been a bit of changes in the game, especially songs no longer doing damage outright and things like that! But I'm glad it still was helpful! 😁
I agree Caetsu, ranged jobs should play near their other party members. I've seen a lot of ranged jobs players very much play in Narnia (so far) and it is very hard to help them in instances. I love this guide too, thank you for making this :D
Thank you so much Alif! And yeah it is funny but I also understand the logic why you'd want to keep your distance if you aren't sure what the boss will do! It just so happens to be more dangerous than helpful! 😊
I had no idea Warden's Paean worked like Esuna with the blue line! And also the fact that Repertoire procs could trigger every 3 seconds was interesting too, just like how DoTs tick every 3 seconds. Thanks for this guide, I think now I know how to properly use all of the 2min cooldowns together. :D
Perfect guide and exactly what i needed. All the other "bard guides" I've found are level 90, and if you're level 90 and still need a guide then i feel you must be doing something wrong😅 Now i just need to convert this to controller
Actually the game is very complex so at level 90 you can still have plenty left to learn! 😁 Regardless of the job! I'm glad you found my guide helpful though! 😄
I'm a v new sprout, and your guides are AMAZING, very helpful for explaining things quickly and thoroughly!! I had a question about using abilities. When you use bloodletter, there is an animation, like a channeling or casting animation, do you need to let this play to get full dmg? or is it 100% cosmetic? Sometimes I find myself using heavy shot half way through, and I can't tell if i'm supposed to do that or not.
Thank you so much! The animations for actions are entirely cosmetic. Any animation that *has* to play will be part of the enforced animation lock I talk about this animation lock in my short on Global Cooldowns, here is a link if you are interested in knowing more: ua-cam.com/users/shortsWDtPflAdQto?feature=share Also, welcome to Eorzea!
Very clear and beautifully spoken. It is sad that some of the best young English speakers are people who speak English as a second or third language. But not sad for you so, very well done!👍
Bard is very capable of holding its own, but like dancer it is a very support heavy job so compared to other jobs it may feel weak, especially in solo content. It is also quite difficult so I understand if it seems like it is a bit of an overwhelming task combined with not enough reward! It is fun to play, though hectic!
Yes if you don't like random rotations then bard is probably not a good fit either! It is a bit less pronounced but in certain aspects it affects far more crucial things, to the point that as you level up, you have to branch the opener a bit depending on randomness 😅
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Ive been using all your guides as i go through shadowbringers building on my rotations is so fun. Its AMAZING how many peiple just press the buttons without using stuff right. I had sum1 tell me i shouldnt pull with TBN cuz the boss is breaking my shield lmao. Thankyou for your hardwork i promise its helping, this is great for players cracking into savage and really wanna optimize. Its great for new players cuz they learn right. Well done. Sry its inna reply
Thank you so much, oNe_ eYeddd! I really do appreciate it! Seeing so many players that want to improve also motivates me to make these guides so thank you! :D And don't worry about it being a reply, I am sure Steven Armstrong can take it! ^^
@CaetsuChaijiCh I really enjoy Bard, and I feel like im not playing it correctly. This video proved it. Lol. Can't wait to get back out there and put this in action
can we talk about how bard's skill potency is so low that a level 60 dancer can be out-dpsing a level 70 bard? Bard really needs higher potency on their lower level skills so that the class isn't garbage all the way until level 75.
I haven't personally had any issues like this, but given that dancers starts with less at level 60 and is an easier job to play, according to most, it could be the case that it is a lot easier to do well as a dancer 😅
Hello friend, awesome guide as always, there seem to be an ability missing, wide volley, do you mind updating the guide? Sorry to bother you 😮 cant find any other guides worth watching.
I am working on updating all of my job guides but there are a lot of jobs, so I will get to it eventually 😅 Wide volley should essentially replace quick nock whenever you have the proc. It also is the one you spend barrage on, in area of effect situations! 😊
In gridania(forest city) , one of the starting cities, find the big aetheryte (the aetheryte Plaza when you teleport to the city itself), and go east. If you open the map it should even show a little archer symbol indicating the archers guild. If you have chosen a starting class that starts in uldah (desert, classes being gladiator, pugilist and thaumaturge) or limsa lominsa (coastal city, classes being arcanist and marauder), then you will have to progress your main scenario quest (indicated by the quest with the golden flame on it) until you eventually reach gridania naturally around level 15 before you can access it. The classes that start in gridania are for completeness archer, conjurer and lancer 😊 I hope this helps! 😁
Once you have done the level 10 class quest for whatever class you start as, you can switch to any class you want, unlocked by doing their starter quest. However archers start in a different city than rogues (ninjas) are found in. If you follow the main quest, by the time the quest requires around level 15 you will have visited all the starter cities so your starting class is irrelevant. If you desire to be rogue as soon as possible however, you would need to start as an arcanist or a marauder, as they start in the same city as rogues are found in 😊 I hope this helps! And welcome to Eorzea!
Okay but what use does direct hit rate have? Never in my time playing have i stopped and said "huh i want to stop missing, i need more direct hit rate"
Direct hit isn't hit chance. When you direct hit, the damage numbers themselves look slightly larger, and they do 25% more damage. You can't actually miss attacks under normal circumstances with an evenly matched opponent! 😊
I hate that archer has to become a bard, its just stupid to me. I just wanna be a dps archer i hate that i have to play a damn lute in battle or some shit
I remember feeling the same way about Rogue to be honest I was expecting more of a swashbuckler, but got pretty disappointed when it became Ninja all of a sudden
Make sure to do your class quests, and continue to do it until you get the bard questline. Make sure to equip your soul crystal. After you get the job, you will start with mages ballad, and more importantly, learn the vast majority of your new tools by doing your job quests! 😊
That sounds very strange. Do you have army's paeon, the second song? Are you sure you are at the level 50 bard quest and not the level 50 main quest? 🤔 I'm a bit confused!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh yes! I have all the other ones up to lvl 50 except for mages balled it’s so weird 😂 Idk if i did something wrong or what. I’m gonna go see right now if i missed any quest

Bard is simple if u follow a new anagram i made keep DPS which stands for Dots Procs Songs keep these 3 up and bard is easy to understand

I cant double weave, but im sure its ok doing it a bit slower right?
You may have to get a bit creative with the order, but yes if you just single weave you can still do it! 😊
Is it true i can change to Ninja when i pick archer for starter? Sorry im totally new i downloaded the game that night😂
