I am considering buying this saw, but from this I am concerned about the fence. I notice this is gripped only at one end. I do not like this as it can cause slight deviation from true. With both ends clamped this is impossible. It does look a lovely saw though and very educational review.

Thanks for the comment Patrick, I’ve had no problem with the saw cutting strait to the fence however one the blade is used to cut a disk it wont cut straight again so I have a blade for through cutting and one for curves I use Truecut blades and they work well for me. Hope this helps

@@andrewhall6880 yes that's good to know about the fence, I will bear it in mind, as this saw, although expensive, looks high quality.

Hi John I would probably go to 75mm 3” not tried a 100mm 4” yet but I think it would handle it ok I cut a 80mm 3 1/4” blues bowl neck 900mm 36” long and it performed great

Hi I’m guessing you considered the AC1950B from Axminster that’s been out of stock for a while. If you did what was it that made you go for this one? I have read many reviews on the Axminster one and the thing that puts me off is the ever so slight apparent flex/twist in the machine once blade is tensioned properly. I do not know if you’ve read this about them but would be good to get your thoughts. Also is there any flex at all in this machine, the best way is to put a square next to the blade and then tension to see if the square moves against the blade. I hear the wider blades need more tension so may be worse with that. I’m toying between the two (this one) and the Axminster, the thing I would swap from the Axminster is the side loading of the blade, seems a bit stupid to remove the fence rail every time hence needing to realign to square the fence up again.

Morning Chris thanks for your comment. No I didn’t actually look at any other bandsaw I chose the Record Sabre as I have had record saws and and machinery before and have always found then great and the added bonus is the customer support with the 5 years guarantee. I had the BS350 but wanted to replace it with a smaller bandsaw so opted for the new Sabre which I am very pleased with. I cant comment about the axminster as I haven’t used the model you speak of however I have used other axminster bandsaws in the past whilst teaching and demonstration for axminster and always found them satisfactory as well. I think the products available now a days are so well engineered its really down to personal choice and budget, for me I would normally choose Record after having worked with their lathes for the last 20 years. Hope this helps to make your mind up regards Andrew

@@andrewhall6880 Thanks for the reply Andrew, would be good to know if you have found any flex in the machine or any other issues in the near future. Thanks again 👍🏻
