Built in GM’s Flint, Michigan factory during the second week of August 1969. Dressed in Tealmist Gray (code 16) with a black bodyside molding (code A-946), full black vinyl roof (code 12B) and black interior (code 698), the paint and trim are in great overall condition. The glass panels are clear and crack-free, the car’s lights are haze-free and clear. The car’s bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is very tidy, the battery appears new, the bumpers are in satisfactory order, the cargo area looks good and include four spare wheel covers.
Under the hood is a 455 CID big-block V-8 engine that breathes via dual exhausts. Backing this motor is a Super Turbine 400 three-speed automatic transmission and a 2.78:1 rear end. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, driver’s side remote mirror and rear defroster.
This big cruiser rolls on Broadway Classic whitewall radials, size P235/75R15 at all four corners and each donut is mounted on factory, vented, five-spoke alloy wheels. The tires are in very good order while the wheels are in satisfactory order.
Inside, the car’s black interior is in overall satisfactory condition. The Strato buckets and rear bench seats look good, as does the matching carpet and headliner. The two-spoke steering wheel is present and looks good as do the instrument panel and inner door panels. The center console and shifter continue the decent theme. Rounding out the interior is a factory AM/FM radio and a rear window defroster.
The 1970, Riviera was restyled. Exposed quad headlamps were almost flush-mounted while the new front bumper wrapped around and over the new vertical bar grille, set between the headlamp pods. A newly optional side trim feature accented the large coupe's flowing lines. Skirted rear wheels became standard, with exposed wheels an option. At the rear, a new rear bumper/taillight motif was seen. The engine was upgraded to 455 CID, the largest engine Buick offered to date. Despite the fact that 1970 sales dropped to 37,366, the second-generation Riviera proved more successful than the first, with 227,669 units sold over five seasons.
Competition to this Buick in 1970 includes AMC’s Ambassador SST Hardtop, Cadillac’s Eldorado, Chevrolet’s Monte Carlo, Chrysler’s 300-H, Dodge’s Monaco, Ford’s Thunderbird, Lincoln’s Continental Mark III, Mercury’s Marauder X-100, Oldsmobile’s Toronado and Pontiac’s Grand Prix.

Too me this is the best year for the Riviera. I had one in beige with the same shorty rear fender skirts. I had the floor shifter with console. These cars are amazing !!! This one is very nice. I would change the tail pipes & correct the headlight trims. The front bumper it looks like is a little bent but it's not a big deal. Keep it running !!!

I had one too in the day, mine was. Chocolate colored, but had the larger skirts, not many had these small skirts and this was the only year Riveria that had them.. ever

Mine was white with dark brown interior & top. Yup pipes must go, change the headlight trim, fix the bumper, it's a mess and hood level, and take the paint off the 2 chrome pieces on either side of the trunk lid, get the missing chrome pieces on the skirt edges and take the paint off the chrome leading from the skirts back to the bumper and those sweep spears - the paint is a mess - must strip and repaint. I hope whoever bought this one had a good eye. I do really like the color.

curious what this went for, I bought my 70 Riviera in March of 74, the oil embargo was still going on, and paid $2400. for 4 year old Riviera with 50K on it, and it was loaded. The previous owner turned it in at our local Buick dealer on a new 74 Electra. This was the only time and year GM put skirts on their Riviera, and they never did it again. I kicked myself for not spending a bit more cause at the time for about $500.00 more, I could have bought a 71 Boattail Riviera at the dealership, but I was 19 years old and that 2400 was my strick spending limit. The 455 had lots of power and always liked the car. I sold it in 1979 with 94K miles for $750 to a friend of my cousins
