I used to watch this show, and I still remember the contestant who had a unique strategy for getting the other contestant to choose "friend." He basically said, "Look, I'm choosing foe, and there's nothing you can do to change my mind. But if you choose friend, then I'll give you half of my winnings after the game. Or you can choose foe, and we'll both get nothing, and that's fine with me. I'm locked in on foe, so you can choose friend and trust me to split with you later, or choose foe and be guaranteed to get nothing." So the other contestant chose friend, and the guy who said that he would choose foe actually chose friend too, and they split the pot. That was the only time I ever saw someone say that they would choose foe, but then actually chose friend -- and amazingly the strategy worked!
I actually kinda like this format. I wish there were more questions and the host is pure archetypal, but this was definitely the start of something decent
I am glad they fixed some glaring problems. The pilot's set was too dark. They dragged those trust box sessions out too long, and honestly this was a show were decreasing money amounts due to time were a detriment. Also, removing the wrong answers first pretty much meant top amount for the question is not obtainable. I still like that it worked with the Prisoner's Dilemma game theory problem.
My wife used to like this show more than Russian Roulette. This setup was more quirky than what it was in the series. "You both chose to be friends, but you don't get any money, just the hope that you'll stay in the game if one of the other teams are jerks to each other." Yeah, no, I'm glad they fixed that part.
I didn't either but surprise surprise there is. I have been watching game shows for a better part of 30 years. I had some dislikes but not a whole lot. Friend or Foe wasn't 1 of them. Fear Factor on the other hand is.
Been a minute since I've seen any of even the regular show, had to look up an episode to re-familiarize myself with it. Wow is the final format stream-lined and faster-paced compared to this. Also surprised they were even experimenting with a "stay in the game" element - I would think it very difficult to end up on a consistent time length for the show with that still in there. It also bogs the game down with positing the "friend/foe" element too often.
I feel like a hybrid of the quesions of the original show and the friend or foe portion of this pilot would make a great show. More trust box while also putting more at stake by saying you'd believe the teams after you will break trust.
So Friend or Foe and the Prisoners Dilemma can be worse. Worse host, worse gameplay. Not a fan of Kennedy’s politics now, but she can host and not sound robotic. The gameplay is too slow (only 7 questions asked for the entire show). It is also more convoluted with the prisoners dilemma than it was on the actual show. The two losing teams can vote friend and friend yet still earn no money.
I don't know this guy, but he may be the most robotic host that I've ever seen. Maybe he's just trying to be dramatic, but something isn't working. I'm bored.

But I can't imagine why the teammates can discuss whether they want to be friends or foes before locking in their choices. The color scheme of the set is much too dark too.

I quite enjoyed that. It seemed to work better than the UK version called "Gilden Balls".
I can see why they simplified it.
But in this original pilot for Friend or Foe, there was a different host named Justin Gunn instead of Kennedy

Compared to the actual version at least the final version has a faster pace than the pilot. Plus Kennedy has the smarter wit

I liked better what ended up happening: Lowest scores went to the trust box, and if both went friend, they split the money (but still got eliminated).
I did like that you had to come to an agreement quickly on the answer to a question, other than that, I like the version with Kennedy better.

I was only 14 years old when it came to GSN for the very first time along with Whammy Russian Roulette and Lingo.
The changes made were certainly for the better. Much better pacing. Not to mention, no useless seventh player.
