Great video Gary really enjoyed it… looking forward to our first Cunard experience ( unfortunately not in the grills this time). How did you get those shots in the cable car!
Hi David, thank you for watching and your feedback. It’s not a drone (which I’d love) but an Insta 360 One X2 Camera. There is already a newer model out though.
Thank you so much Gary….loved this video….your attention to detail and camera angles are absolutely wonderful. Almost had a heart attack watching you come down that hill….glad you made it safely.
@@CruisewithGary …..I’ll take your word for it Gary and wait for you at the bottom with a nice glass of wine and 2 Valium haha….. do you use a drone to get those incredible camera shots? They really are brilliant and so original!
What an excellent video and regarding those cabins\suites at the aft end of the ship, on a sunny day when can you expect to have the sun shining upon your deck? Aft = noun, adverb or adjective and do I really care? In those 'adverse' seas what do you think made your television move? In 2014 on the Queen Elizabeth, whilst crossing the North Atlantic we hit the doosey of a hurricane and the degree of roll was negligible but boy did the ship shudder whenever she dug her bow into a large wave. Thank you again for the excellent video and your Insta camera certainly fooled me, I felt certain you were using a drone :)
Thank you, John, for watching and taking the time to comment. It was certainly sunny on the balcony when we were in port! I didn't spend too long out there when we were underway, unless we were arriving or departing a port. I think it may be dependent on time of year and where you are in the world as to when the sun shines? The TV bracket was being moved by the movement of the ship. Perhaps the bracket needed tightening up? I have stayed in a forward stateroom on a rough transatlantic and remember the shudder when the bow crashed down into the ocean. I also remember feeling like my organs were trying to leave my body as I lay in bed!!
Great video Gary. Just thought I would catch up on some videos in advance of a cruise on QV in 10 days. What a coincidence - we were actually in the next cabin in January and regularly spotted your tripod with the camera facing out. Brought back a lot of memories, we had done the Canaries and Madeira before but this was the first time we did the “sleigh run” - what a great experience and thoroughly recommended. Like you we also prefer the rear of the ship but got some very disappointing news yesterday. We have been “upgraded” next week to a Q4 which is midships and, as far as we are concerned, a downgrade. Our agent has tried to get this decision reversed but Cunard have refused - referring us to their conditions. We normally always state no upgrades but on this occasion we booked this cruise whilst on board in October and clearly weren’t asked this question which our agent always does. A LESSON FOR ANYONE ELSE WHO, LIKE BOTH OF US, PREFERS THE BACK OF THE SHIP.
Hi Barry, thank you for watching and I hope I didn't make too much noise! I enjoyed the toboggan (I see what you did there, being so near to Christmas!). Sorry to hear about your upgrade. There is a comment from a lady on Cunard Critic page on Facebook who was PG and has been upgraded to an aft QG suite, who isn't sure what to do with a Butler. She hasn't specified which ship or sailing, but it could be the person who has received your suite. May be worth you sending her a PM to ask and see if she wants to swap to your Q4. It's a shame Cunard won't upgrade the people who have already been upgraded and place you back in your original suite. I hope it all works out for you and you get to enjoy your cruise.
@@CruisewithGary you were the perfect neighbour, we didn’t hear or even see you despite the fact we were on our balcony for evert port departure. Still liaising with Cunard regarding the upgrade but not holding out much hope. Don’t do social media so unable to make contact with the lady but thanks for the suggestion.
The 360 camera may make it sound louder as it was out over the side by a few metres. I certainly don’t remember it being an issue on the balcony and the suite was fairly soundproof with the door shut if I recall correctly. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙂
Apart from paying 100% solo passenger supplement, the cruise itself was fantastic. Well looked after by the staff and to be honest, the tables are very close together, so it was easy to speak to the couple next to me at meal times. I recommend any solo who can afford the price tag and would like to experience it to go for it. Pre-covid, there were plenty of singles and we sat at a large table with other singles and those who wished to share. Due to covid, I’m more keen to dine alone (certainly early part of 2022) as sharing tables were notorious for passing Covid on. Not sure whether that is still happening in 2023.
Hi Debra, I think it has the best views. I was able to watch a full 180 degree view as we departed every port which you don't see when you are the side of the ship (you only see one side). The wake is quite mesmerising. It's cheaper than a Q4 and the only real difference was there was one less TV and no walk in wardrobe room. I thought there was more wardrobe space in the Q6 too. I hope that explains a little for you? Thank you for taking the time to watch my video!
Great video, Gary. We had Desiree as our waitress in October 2021 and Sandro as our MD. We recently sailed on QV in Queens Grill and were a little disappointed with the food compared to QE. We found the canapes to be very run of the mill, not as imaginative as on QE, and the food in QG restaurant not as good at all, which surprised us. I think, all in all, QE is our favourite ship. Your food photos just reinforced our impressions.
Hi Wendy, thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment. Both my QG sailings were on QE, I haven’t been fortunate to experience it on QV which is my favourite ship. I’m surprised there is such a difference, but I guess it is down to the chefs on board. I remember the first sailing I did and didn’t think much of the canapes so used to leave them. I liked them much better in January. I hope you manage to get back to QE in the QG again soon to make up for the QV experience.
References to "the aft" suddenly appear to have been gaining in popularity. All cruise vloggers seem to be guilty at one time or another. In my dictionary aft is not a noun. And at 6:45 how did you manage to smuggle that drone aboard?
I'd suggest that "aft" is a contraction of afterdeck. Therefore can be considered a noun. Otherwise it's an adjective. The aft of a ship is perfectly accurate and understood in common parlance by all except possibly residents of the US who have their own parlance.
Excellent photography.......amazing shots. I'm starved after viewing all that delicious food!
Thank you Tom, very kind!
Great video, Gary! Thanks for sharing. Sailing on QE in October in 5194.
Well done Gary ! I enjoyed watching your video thank you for posting.

Thank you for your comment. I used an Insta 360 one X2 camera on a very long selfie stick made for the camera. Enjoy your Cunard experience.
Wow the best travel vid lve seen...excellent camera work.

Flatterer! You’ll have to wait until my next cruise in March until I get the 360 camera out again. 101 days and counting. Thank you for subscribing 🥳
Love the video Gary. You've really captured the elegance and often the simple sophistication of the food on board 👍

excellent Gary! we need more Queen Victoria videos though!
Thank you Roscoe. I’ll see what I can do regarding Queen Victoria!
Thanks Gary for the nice video, we join the QM2 on Monday 18th just a short break to Hamburg this time in QG, it’s my wife’s birthday.
Thank you for the comment. Have a wonderful voyage & Happy Birthday to your wife.

None at all
