its a great record! he gets better each album. his singing, precision and depth! he has made so many albums but I like each one more than the last. thanks for sharing Jim's perspective and humor with us!
I Met Jim Lauderdale at a show with Emmylou Harris in the 90's, I asked who he was listening to & did he have any recommendations, He said Check out Lucinda Williams & I wrote it down & picked up a CD, That was good advice!
Thank you both for this interview. ‘Lucinda Williams - Austin City Limits 1998 - Full Performance’ with Lucinda Williams (vocals, guitar), Kenny Vaughan (guitar, backing vocals), John Jackson (guitar), Richard "Hombre" Price (bass), Randy Leago (Hammond B3, Accordion), Fran Breen (drums), and Jim Lauderdale (acoustic guitar, backing vocals) is worth finding and listening. It is one of my favorite recording and performance work. Lucinda Williams is a favorite song writer. ☮💚
Lucinda Williams' music floats in and out of my world on a fairly regular basis. Love "Car Wheels" ... she's such a powerhouse. Thank you for the interview Be good to you 🙏🏻🤍
So many writers dry up over time but not Lucinda. She’s certainly special. I have all her albums, for an audio buff like myself I find sound quality is right up there. 🙏
saw lucinda and jim many times. lucindas band was always awesome. really like doug p guitar playing, good feel. Lucinda’s lyrics are inspiring. i had my daughter on my shoulders ( when she was little) during a lucinda show at fingerlakes grassroots fest. (a great summer memory.. ) so many songwriters influenced by lucinda…and thats good, because her taste is so great. ❤
My introduction to Lu was the '93 Victoria Williams tribute record, Sweet Relief. I then saw her at Bumbershoot in Seattle in '95, three years prior to Car Wheels and a couple after Sweet Old World. She had John Jackson on guitar after he left Bob Dylan's band. She was playing some songs off of Car Wheels in '95. I definitely remember hearing Joy. She's such a damn treasure. I recently had the pleasure of seeing her in a barn in Iowa called Codfish Hollow. You literally had to drive Car Wheels on a Gravel Road to get to this barn in the middle of nowhere. Despite her not being able to play guitar anymore due to the stroke, she sung as strong as ever. Truely one of America's greatest artists.
I was delighted to meet Jim a few weeks ago at the Romp festival in Owensboro KY. Didn’t want to take up much of his time, just expressed how much I used to enjoy Music City Roots

Coincidentally, just saw him up in NY at the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival. After his set with Donna the Buffalo, I got a chance to say hello. I also mentioned how I had recently saw an old video of Lu’s performance on Austin City Limits in which he sang backup. What a band!
I played Raji’s! Lots of times..Lucinda was suspiciously absent from any of the bills “the Issue” was on. Dusty is friend and even though his studio was called Maddog he is the coolest cat to ever rock a 3 string bass

That album is one of the best albums of that decade. Maybe any decade.
Saw Jim and Lu on the Car Wheels tour at the Ritz in Raleigh, NC. Kenny Vaughn on guitar, such a fabulous evening!!
I am of the opinion that AWESOME ain't a big enough word. That lady has pipes for days ! Awesome !😏🤣👍👍👍
Lucinda Williams' music floats in and out of my world on a fairly regular basis. Love "Car Wheels" ... she's such a powerhouse.

Lucinda always has a badass guitarist in her band. Heavy hitters one and all.
I always look forward to your interviews, Otis... thank you for doing what you do!
I could listen to Jim sing and/or talk for days.

Jim is an absolute statesman among songwriters; his humility belies his greatness.
Thanks Otis, Wheels....is a good record. Appreciated.
Followed Lu since her early days "passionate kisses " days. One of my favorite songwriters of all time.

Love Lue & have followed Jims career since his beginnings, AWESOME
Awesome interview, thanks for sharing! ❤❤❤❤❤
Fabulous.
The Palomino Club...those were the days! I cant believe it gone...
I remember Raji's very well. Lucinda there woulda been fantastic.
Jim just kept writing and recording. That is the key. Please yourself and keep making music.
I found Lucinda on a Starbucks compilation CD, I think it was called Mile Marker 97, it had a lot of great stuff on it.
I played Raji’s! Lots of times..Lucinda was suspiciously absent from any of the bills “the Issue” was on. Dusty is friend and even though his studio was called Maddog he is the coolest cat to ever rock a 3 string bass
🎼🤟♥️♥️♥️🤟🎼
Love Jim Lauderdale. Lucinda ranks way up there with Bob Dylan, in my estimation.
? dylan Hmmmmm
Donald Lindley played with Joe Ely also.. He was the best 🥁

East Side Indianapolis Up In This Piece!
Jim kinda looks like Bob from Twin Peaks (I mean that as a compliment)
I can see it...but I don't see it as a compliment.😆
