honestly it took me over a week to complete cos of the weather , then another channel did a simmilar kind of video so i held back putting it out ,m and youll get there guys youll get there
I think that it may be better to install the valve horizontally and the put a 90 degree bend on the outlet from the valve, that way the pipe from the tank would be lower and the outlet would be higher if that make sense, and if the outlet is higher you may be able to get a bucket underneath if you need to.
looks handy. Im not having any onboard water on the trailer at this time but something to keep in mind for future builds for sure. id suggest plastidip instead of the bag im guessing the bad will rip when you go on gravel as well as hold water IN and not let it to try out.
Hi mate good video, handy thing to have. Good to see you at the show the other week.👍 My waste just drains straight outside which is much easier 😂 If you had the ball valve mounted sideways you could get more out of the tank as the inlet would be lower and without the need 90 degree elbow.
Nice video, you can actually get a 2 wire normally closed one that will automatically close when it loses power. That’s what we have. All you need is positive and negative and a normal switch.
yer but it means you have to keep power to it to keep it opoen , and after looking in to them the main problem with them is people forget to turn the power off and the thing burns out over time ,
@@UrbanVanlife nope not with this ball valve, for the solenoid I had before you needed power to keep it open, but for this new ball valve it only uses 5W to open and once it’s open it doesn’t use anymore power and once it loses power it just closes on its own, so it’s very power efficient. I wish I installed it earlier in the build lol. I had to clean the solenoid valve k had in before about 4 times because it kept getting blocked with food, but with this ball valve no more blockage 😁
great upgrade. and just an idea, if you wanted to make it even easier you could fit two delay-off relay boards for each positive feed so that when you click the momentary switch it’ll trigger the relay that essentially holds the switch for you for say 5 seconds to fully operate the valve and then it’ll stop. just to save you holding it down and not knowing when it’s fully open/closed. this is what i’d do but I don’t even have a waste tank haha
illl check the emails tomorow buddy , we have been doing mega long days to get a customers van finished off for saturday coming so have been doing 14hr days for the past week to get it finished off , i only got time to do the thumbnails today for this video i wanted it out sunday ,
I was looking at those, then I realised there's a lot of places in Australia where we don't have internet, so went with the same one Neil has then I know I can empty everyday at anytime, otherwise the wifi one is a great idea.
Holy shit Neil, you are on it buddy, My waste tank pipes kept blocking up and began to stink the van up, my solution was to remove said waste tank and allow grey water to flow direct to ground. If I’m ever on a campsite or a place that will make people frown I’ll simply put a bucket under the outlet. Never needed to do that yet though 😂
there is a one way flow valve you can get mate from screw fix that will stop the smells coming back up the pipe , we have them on ours and there only cheep bud , and do the job perfect as well
@@UrbanVanlife nice one, I’ll confess I’m no expert with plumbing, I am however a very good finishing joiner with over 20 years experience in the construction of luxury yachts, and offshore living accommodation modules (the rigs) so if you want amazing cabinets I’m your man, you want a toilet then I’m definitely not your man. 😂😆😂 can you tell me exactly what to order from Screwfix as I’m useless with plumbing, I mean bsp sizes etc aren’t actually what they say? it’s a minefield for me, I’ve spent a fortune a small fortune on plumbing parts that never work out. Cheers mate.
Great job. Unsure if anyone has mention this But might be good idea to put in a second release manual tap just to dump the wast if something happens to the valve. You can release the wast to then maintain or replace the valve Great vid keek them coming 👍🏻👍🏻
Also handy if you've been told to follow VOSA to a weighbridge or scales and you think you may be overweight. I know a couple of people who've put dump valves on both their grey and potable tanks for that reason!
Wait... we have to do costume change disclaimers now?! Damn it I missed the memo! 🤣😂 oh wait... is this another thing that gets made up for Neil's world? If so this world sounds fun, I want in!
Thanks for the vid, very helpful. Now you've had it fitted a while how are you getting on with it? Does it drain slower than the original manual tap? and do you have to keep your finger on the switch while emptying or will it stay open until you press close? 👍
still working perfect mate . and drains very fast , when you hold it dont it opens all the way and will stay open untill you push the switch up untill its fully closed . they when you let go the switch returns to the center and stops all the live feeds going to the motor
no bud its in front of where the wheel would be , we havea 65lts gas tank where the wheel would be mate , but if we didnt have that it would be the perfect place mate
Great vid. We’ve a waste solenoid valve similar to yours (that’s wired ready, but still on the to do list😂👍) Is your one weatherproof? As ours isnt and I’m thinking of covering it with insulation/packing to protect it from the elements underneath the van. Cheers
That model is marked IP65 (but it is made of pure Chinesium, so you should probably take that with a pinch of salt), so in theory... "Water projected for three minutes by a nozzle (6.3 mm (0.25 in)) at a pressure of 30kPa and a rate of 12.4l/min against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects." The only problem I see is that the valve is sited behind the rear wheel, so in wet weather it's going to get a constant forceful spray. A simple baffle/guard on the wheel side would probably be sufficient, but bagging it up would also work.
Could have fixed the valve immediately on the exit of the tank, you would need to fashion a bracket, but it looks like the valve would have been higher than the bottom of the tank, and then run waste pipe to side of van, otherwise great job, Also, installing a cheap reversing camera under the van would allow you to remain in your seat
nothing to fix it to on the tank side plus you dont need to leave your seat , you just hold the button in count to 5 and its open and then the same in reverse buddy
@@UrbanVanlife Waterproof the electrics, and it'll last longer. Water ingress seems to be an issue seeing as they're not suited for outdoor use.. So I've read anyway.
Humble question, if you push down for “off” surely this should be the closed position? Not the open position? Or push up for “On” this would be value open?
its each to there own , in my head down is drop water cos the water comes down out the van , but what if you put the switch sidewise no there is the real question
i have them but i love buttons , i want all the buttons all of them i tell you , and i wouldnt invest in knee preotectors my friend but may be a ball gag
I added one of these ussodid valves to my van. It worked great until it stopped working. Checked power to valve and finally had to remove. What a mess! Gray water from sink is not clean water!!! I thoroughly scrape my dishes but food waste is still getting into your tank and after sitting for a few days! IT Smells Bad. With no way to empty tank except motorized ball valve that don't work, I ended up with gray water all over the place and myself!!
"This job has taken me far too long"

Probably will be getting some of these for various things around the van 👍

I mounted/threaded the valves onto the tank . It's stable and no need for brackets. Then simply run the piping from valve to the end.
