Yeah, sounds like a terrible idea to me. At least with Canada, Davies is notorious for holding the ball too long and turning it over. Distribution is not his strength.
Because he doesn't play this position enough. He is a fullback and a winger. Also, when he plays for Canada he takes on too much. Meaning he tries to do to much instead of using others to help him out (recently). During qualifying (2020, 2021) we didn't see this as much b/c he kept to the wings and used his pace, dribbling, power, crosses, and cutting in with the ball to scare the crap out of the opposition. Canada needs to ensure we have a proper '10' and forwards who he can work with to provide offense at Copa America. I would suggest Oso and Junior Hoilett are still the best this year. Buchannan will be the winger on the right and David the striker. However, they should change their lineup for Argentina...maybe have 9 defenders? 1 Striker Hahaha

I'm hoping Marsch specifically has them train on how to provide options for Davies when he drives forward, even if it's only to return the ball to Davies to move further forward. I think there's real magic to be found in Davies driving forward, finding Hoilett, who in turn finds David making his legendary runs into space. But yeah, Osorio fits in there really well also - he's been looking great when combining with Insigne at TFC, and I want to see that with David this summer. For Argentina, I think we need to 6s in a 4-2-3-1 - hope to cause turnovers in our end and hit hard and fast on counter.
From what I've seen, Davies is terrible in the center of the pitch. He's simply doesn't have the skills of a 10 but rather holds onto the ball and then turns it over.

@@jackbilo2819 what that makes no sense you clearly never seen him play he legit is a very good dribbler and has great control it’s not just pace. Same with with mbappe he’s fast but it’s his dribbling that makes him better

@@truthmatters758 I think Davies is a decent dribbler, but he's not elite tier. Davies strengths currently are incredible speed, and nice cross passes into the box. I agree with others though, he runs into trouble when he finds himself in possession of the ball more in the middle and is used as a mid who has to set up the play. He holds on to the ball, and often loses it. He could improve to become this player, but that takes time.
Hes not technical enough to play in the midfield role, would be much more suited to play as a winger as you get the most out of his game

Assuming Canada will play on the counter most of the time he definitely should be on the wing and not the midfield

The difference is zinchenko can make difficult passes and Davies cannot. Davies game is all about physicality very little skill.
